âThat bad, huh?â Well, he couldnât blame him. He sometimes had a real hard time remembering things the few times heâd drunk enough to get a nasty hangover out of it, too. But this guy really had to have had one helluva night for him to be rattled enough to not know those very important phone numbers AND be stuck in a wholly unfamiliar city. That, or he might have to wonder just what kind of trouble this guy got himself into in the process. Either way, it was all the more incentive Eijiro had to want to help him. But stillâ
âErrâŚâ âwhat could someone like HIM do? He could offer to show the other to the nearest hero agency. Maybe they could help. But then thereâs no telling how they would take to the otherâs story, especially considering the current state of things.
âSay, you got yer wallet on ya, right? You didnât lose it?â If anything, it could work for identification purposes if he was asked about it. But it was also good to make sure the other had money for whatever heâd need.
Naoya went wide-eyed for a split second, frantically patting his pockets, until his right hand settled over a small, flat lump under his jacket on his chest.
âStill have it,â he said with some relief. âHad me worried for a second. I wouldnât usually lose it, even after a rough night. Thereâs not much in it to steal, either.â And it was true; he was the one that paid the bills in his household, which meant very little leftover funds, and with some of the places he âworkedâ he carried as little cash as possible. âNot unless someone really wants an old school ID or a used gift card...â Or his key card for buildings owned by the Organization, but that was of no use to most people. Especially in a foreign city.

âHumans in this world the normal ones dont even know mages exist. The Queen rules them while mages are governored by the magic council. So yeah not very friendly.â
He supposed the non magic users were that way since he only encountered the ones who could throw spells or even other magic sorcery of any type.
âI said I would now did I. So appreaciate that rare opportunity before I change my mind.â Patience was never his fortay,

Naoya opened the door to the cafe and stepped aside, half-bowing and giving a small flourish of his free hand. âYou first, since itâs your treat.â
He wouldnât waste time ordering; he needed a major caffeine boost, and soon. That... and his chaperone seemed to want to be in and out as quickly as possible. Being fast with his order was the least Naoya could do.
âIâll have a tall black coffee with eight shots of espresso.â

The One With the Blackout
â The entire city is blacked out! â â Oh, yeah, that is the part to focus on, you idiot! â â That had to hurt! â â Alright. Itâs been fourteen and a half minutes and you still have not said one word â â I just never had a relationship with that kind of passion, you know, where you have to have somebody right there, in the middle of a theme park â â But you know, Iâll tell you something. Passion is way overrated â â See, I seeâŚ. big passion in your future â â I will. See, Iâm waiting for the right moment â â Whatâs messing you up? The wine? The candles? The moonlight? â â This is so typical. Iâm always the last one to know everything â â OK, I have a question. Well, actually, itâs not so much a question as.. more of a general wondering⌠ment â â I want you to meet my friends â â My God, youâre choking! â â Oh my God, you guys, what am I doing? What am I doing? This is so un-me! â â Y'know, I know itâs totally superficial and we have absolutely nothing in common, and we donât even speak the same language but God⌠â â Thatâs funny, because you know, you are a huge crapweasel! â
((I had to take a break from this blog for a while for personal/health reasons.

âI donât mind at all!â Well, okay, he did feel a little uneasy handing off his phone to someone he didnât even know. But hey, so long as the other was taken care of, it should be fine, right? Maybe he should be more concerned and wary, but regardless, heâd pull his phone out and set it ready to dial.
âHere.â Hopefully this person could get sorted. It seemed he didnât even recognize the city. Which was definitely not a good sign, but heâd stave off the worry for after the other made their call, if anything.
âThanks.â He took the phone, opening the phone app and dialing a Tokyo-area number. The phone app hung for a moment, before an unmistakable tone played and the accompanying robotic voice repeated that the number was disconnected or no longer in service.
âUgh, he probably knows its me calling,â Naoya mumbled almost inaudibly, dismissing the first failed attempt to reach someone he knew. He input another number; the same disconnected number tone played. Again, another number, and, again, the number was unreachable.
He handed the phone back to the kind, redheaded stranger. âMustâve had a crazier night than I thought. Canât seem to remember the right numbers,â he lied, âGuess thatâs why we keep âem all in our phones these days, huh?â
