dude watched his ex husband that previously tried to kill him walk in with his captor and still immediately dropped to his knees and begged for help the SECOND he saw him. didn't even hesitate.

taking this out of the tags because it verbalized exactly what i was struggling to say.

like. the immediate first place my brain went during this scene is that the last time chosen was in a situation like this, it ended with him and dark teaming up and escaping together. and if you think about it, between the time he spent being enslaved by alan & now being imprisoned by victim, the only time chosen has EVER been free for any substantial amount of time was in the time he had dark. he's never been able to achieve and maintain that on his own.

say what you will about dark, because there is a LOT to say. he was not a good person or partner. but he never kept chosen trapped. he offered the freedom to do absolutely anything with a complete disregard for whoever gets hurt in the process. absolutely 0 consideration for laws or morals.

despite everything, if ANYONE he knew valued his freedom enough to take pity on him, it would be dark.

Perfectly summarizing my thoughts on their relationship! Dark definitely used/abused cho during their time together, but Chosen never mentions it.

I also saw another post pointing out the differences between Dark's fighting style when he was fighting vic in machine, and when he was fighting Cho in the showdown. Maybe they weren't AS toxic as the fandom makes it seem.

Chosen's character and his relationship with Dark actually has so much potential. SO MUCH POTENTIAL.

While Alan decided to capitalize on Victim being, well, a victim, then getting a life, then being reduced back to his former self, it made for a good, emotional story. Angst. Canon angst. But what about Chosen? He's, in some ways, an even more tragic character. All he wanted was his freedom; but he was tortured by Alan for 4 years, then got lumped in a toxic relationship with a guy whose sole mission was to destroy him, and then got kidnapped by another guy who mistakenly thought he killed his wife. But his story has been pushed to the sidelines. His trauma? We don't see much of it at all, besides those few frames in the Flashback.

I've actually been writing this dynamic, specifically, Chosen's reliance and dependence on Dark, into my ava/m alternate universe fic too.

Makes me feel really bad for cho...

He just wants to be free!

I want to talk about one thing I’ve really liked from tsctir so far and that’s Han yoojin in battle

He’s not really all that strong but he’s been in business for a while and his experience is really where he shines. Either from clever tricks to items to simply knowing how to counter his opponent we can really see his thought process in battle and his quick reaction time to create an engaging fight. It’s definitely refreshing to see someone play with their experience like this compared to either completely avoiding combat and leaving it up to others or only relying on powerful objects or op skills to one shot things. While it’s sort of similar to what Han yoojin does like I said they’re more tricks used to propel the action rather than what carries the fight.

And honestly it’s rarer for the mc to be well adapted to fighting in general often being rather new to it (at least in my reading/watching experience) so reading from a veterans position is quite refreshing. It’s also fun to see how he uses his experience to help others in battle(like when he ends up fighting with the main cast occasionally) being able to see where they can improve and what they excel at as well as matchups between fighting styles.

Hes well adapted to fighting and he efficiently uses that to his advantage in creative and reasonable ways every time making up for lack of attacking skills (at my point in the novel) and as I said before his physical capabilities.

The KimChaHan Collection came to be because of this very idea; HYJ and CEJ both being hunters resistant to high grade poisons while KDJ is the stumbling cat they found on the side of the road, dragged along for the ride.

It's because of KDJ's reliability and skills that they often forget that he's nothing more than a glass canon wrought by the sorry state of his incarnation. Fortunately, he's able to recover with their care and stories.

Expect a follow-up drawing! But please don't look forward to any more comic pages, this is so taxing 😔
