Drag me from this battlefield

Through scattered hollow shells that lay like sapling seeds

Move me out of your way

Ignore the splashes in the trenches

Looking back will only uncover more of you’s that’ll look like me

Take me somewhere where the sun peaks

Where the breaks in the leaves speak

Their speech a beckoning call, a gospel preach

Saying to you “lay them here”

And please do oblige

Cliche, I know but there are just so many things I’d like to say to you

To who you may ask

I don’t know

My letter headers begin with “to” and end in ellipses

Hoping for someone else to connect the dots

I’ll leave my words littered and lingering

Little rocks on the trail of new found land

It’s both cryptic and descriptive but you’ll have to meet me at the beach to understand

And who you are bottle up your words and send them

But end them with take care

I’ve done the rituals, my rites

I’ve cut and cleaved through culture just to find all that I know

And all that I am owed

My rights

Draped, dripping, drenched in a primordial black

When spoken is commonly mistaken for something pagan

So I write

My curses in palpable fonts

My cursive slanted sinister

Crooked runes for those afraid of the End times

Slabs of passage acting as malevolent shrines for the untrained eye

And I

Hope that it scares you
