Homework for Oct. 12th 2016

Green Peace is an organization that serves the purpose of protecting life on earth. They organize events to clear up litter, gatherings to demonstrate and advise on products or systems that may serve to enhance life on earth or to enlighten members about products they are using and things they are doing that may be either helping or detracting from life on Earth. Their social existence online has created a discourse between users that has facilitated negative and positive responses. Some people have responded that how Green Peace goes around doing its usual actions is the wrong way to do such things. Others have argued that Green Peace is really working toward the goal they desire in the best ways possible. Some members have replied, trying to describe better systems for assisting Earth, others have criticized these suggestions. Despite all of this, Green Peace continues to move in ways it sees profitable for its main goal- keeping Earth a clean and healthy place to live.

I am not certain if it is okay to reblog a post in order to discuss it, but this one came up today on my main dashboard and I found it intriguing. The logos behind this is that if you shelter children too much, they will be all the more curious to do things they aren’t allowed to do when they get the chance.

I would assume the pathos to be the reason behind posting this in the first place. Parents not wanting other parents to regret how they raise their child. A common ground of having and caring for children. The ethos is simply created from common experience when, for example, a parent tells a child they cannot watch “Spongebob Squarepants”, but the child does it anyway when out of their parents’ control, maybe at a friend’s house.

The cause for writing this, or exigence, is the worry and concern a parent feels when their child disobeys and risks doing exactly what the mother or father (or both) feared they would do.

I hope I have analyzed this well enough...

Two Days Without Different Types of Social Media

On Friday and Saturday of this weekend, I went without certain online communities and programs. Friday, I spent the day with my aunt who had just come in from out of town for her cousin’s birthday party. I refrained from the use of websites like Youtube, Tumblr, Facebook and Gaia. It was up and down. I had a lot of fun hanging out with my aunt since I don’t see her very often, but at the same time, my social anxiety issues from my Asperger’s syndrome took a toll on me. After a certain point, it became difficult to function because I had had no time with what I coin my “online security blankets”. I no longer play video games too often or too long, so I have come to depend on certain social media to help myself cope on a day to day basis. So I decided to switch things up and use the second day to try refraining from another kind of media because of my issues.

On Saturday, I refrained from listening to any music. I fared a lot better and even made it to the birthday party without trouble. I think it has made something about my own personal issues very clear to me. Ever since long ago, when I ask other Aspies what they think of music, many of them have said and still say that music is frivolous and nice, but not always necessary. Responses from Neurotypicals always come back saying that music is life. I am certain that Aspergers Syndrome causes people to think more logically, which can lead to the feeling that certain artistic pursuits are foolish. (Of course, I do not share that opinion.) However, no two of us are the same. We are often also impressed upon by our upbringing. I figure that those who have said we do not need music were not brought up with a love of music. As for myself, my parents were always buying me CDs, playing music at my birthday parties, talking about all the groups they loved, playing the radio in the car, etc. So I was taught to feel positive about music. I enjoy music, but I suppose my Aspie side still has some control.
