Enigma, An Experience!

The scrabble competition last year was intense. I am glad I got an opportunity to compete in a board game contest on such a large scale as Enigma’s. It provided me with unparalleled experience, competing against students from all educational levels. Regrettably, I didn't attend any of the socials myself, but there was one word on everyone else’s lips: brilliant. The praising and fawning went on for the longest of times. The public speaking competition had the kind of talent I have never seen in interschool competitions. The movie-music quiz I took part in was very entertaining. The Shahzad Roy concert beat everything though. What a brilliant evening! Almost everyone got a chance to personally meet him. There was a Djuice campaign and we were given free T-shirts. Everyone danced like crazy, the whole thing was simply incredible. A salute to the commitment and zeal of the Enigma team for such a wonderful event. – Areeba Khalid Kashmiri

The immense hype about enigma around the college circuit compelled me to take part in last year’s quiz competition. The contest was challenging and worth participating in. The socials were more amazing than mouth of word could have conveyed. Beach party, the Shahzad Roy concert, all of it was splendid. The treasure hunt was so much fun. My friend’s team won that which made it more enjoyable.

It was a pleasure like always to attend Enigma last year. I have been attending Enigma for the past three years, and each year the events get better and better. The competition gets tougher each time as well. I took part in Futsal and Table Tennis last year and it was a memorable struggle. The socials set a new standard each year, and last year was no exception.

Enigma redefines and reinvents the meaning of art. The multitude of competitions it offers makes it hard for anyone to choose what to take part in. The kind of talent at the Enigma singing competition is beyond words. I participated last year, and I can bet that every winner in this competition is bound to end up becoming a singing sensation one day.The socials were just the icing on a scrumptious cake. The pool party was delightful. There were food, drinks and even a concert! Everyone got a chance to unwind and dance to the music after a long day’s work.

The launch did not end with the fire lanterns or the fire show but it started with a spread of thirst for the ENIGMA 4. it was a trailer for the real event to begin. the mesmerizing dance performances and the fire show which nearly enthralled everyone- even me- showed the creativity and a true art.

Moving under the special effects of the colored lights and the misty smoke, the dancers of the Arts’ Society Launch captured the evening. Their performance had the audience caught under a spell, and they could barely stay in their seats. Dressed in exotic outfits which matched the enchanted theme of Arab Culture, the performers moved with a grace and precision which left the spectators mesmerized and with their mouths agape.

The camel ride towards the end was the icing on the cake. Who would have thought that I’d be giggling away like a young child riding a camel with a friend at night on campus? Needless to say, those 50 RS were well spent.

The ethereal festivity that is the Art Society Launch had me at a loss of words at first. When I reminisced of the event, I was reminded of Agrabah, the fictional place in Aladdin. Yes, the IBA has surely outdone itself and everyone around it. The colourful decorations were a treat to my sight and I couldn't stop feasting my eyes on the beautiful mixture of those bright and enticing colors (pink and purple to be exact). The more conspicuous features of the event were the 'fire show', and the 'sky lanterns', however, I couldn't get over the aesthetic appeal of the launch in order to fully indulge myself in all the other elements. All things considered, this launch was off the hook!

The sky lanterns floated into the night during the Art’s Society Launch. Suspended in the air one after the other, they were a sight to behold. It was almost like luminescent jelly fishes in the deep ocean. Soothing, calming and the perfect eye candy.

Who would have thought about it. Arts society launch would be something one could never put out of mind. It was something that was going to be discussed for weeks and will be there as a challenge for the rest of the events as a standard was set and the bar was raised. Most importantly, how can we forget the musical performances? Our very own Sharmeen Ahmed took a part and delighted the crowds with her melodious voice. Moreover musicians which included Hasham Mohsin with the guitar and the sensational Arbal Nadeem with all he needs(his beat boxing mouth that is) set the atmosphere burning. Nevertheless, you can never miss an Arts Society Launch.

Before the 12th of November, no one, even in their wildest dreams, would have ever imagined that Arabia could come to IBA! However, the Arabic Theme of the Arts Society Launch left everyone stunned! From the decorations and dresses, to the songs, dances, and the flying lanterns, everything possessed an Arabic touch and left the audience wanting for more. The Arts Society has not only created history but has also outdone itself by organizing such an exhilarating launch, which the audience has termed as “the Best up till now.” The benchmark has been definitely raised and now all eyes eagerly await one of the Biggest Olympiad of Pakistan – Enigma IV.

This year's launch proved to be an emblem of creativity, originality and innovation. The way it was executed proved to be incomparable. It set a new benchmark and raised the standards greatly. The audience remained captivated by the spectacular fire show, lighting up the sky with the exquisite sky lanterns.

Visitors to the IBA Arts Club launch were welcomed with extravagant scenes at the Student Center. With floors adorned with carpets and volunteers distributing dates, the intro was the perfect scene for an event in its own right.

But few would have remembered it walking down from the amphitheater after experiencing the most-enchanting and captivating society launch of the year so far. From the thrilling dance performance to the epic fire show at the end, every moment was a moment to remember and no domain was left unfulfilled.

Clearly more emphasis was placed over quality. It’s always good for an event to leave you wanting more rather than overstaying its welcome, which was clearly the target.

Yet, its biggest achievement was the perfect amalgam of freshmen and seniors, who worked hard alike to make this launch a success. Never before has a launch under IBA’s parameters seen collaboration on such a level.

But this was expected, given it all was a precursor to what will be the biggest talent-hunt competition of the year. If ever there was a perfect start to a journey as grand, it would be this.

Glimpses from the IBA Arts Society Launch

Veils, floating lanterns and camels. IBA Arts Society promised us an evolution and that is exactly what they delivered! As the last light of the evening dwindled to a grey hue, everyone flocked to the amphitheater, vibrant with anticipation.

The launch kicked off with a bang and some really groovy ladies, dancing to a mixture of western and Arabian music. The routine was well choreographed and executed with grace.

Next were two musical performances. One started off beat boxing which soon evolved into a full-fledged song that had the audience wild and screaming for more. The other was a soothing flute rendition that transported them to another era, another time.

The craziest event of the evening was the fire show. The crowd seemed to love the adrenaline-pumping tactics of the performers who were literally playing with fire. The dancing men aside, this show was also the first of its kind in IBA.

The highlight of the launch came towards the end-the much awaited unveiling of Enigma IV logo. As a teamster, that truly was a proud moment!

Perhaps the only thing more highlighting than that was Sharmeen’s hidden flair for singing. Makes us all wonder, just how talented can a person be?
