I have an intake appointment with Denton Friends of the Family for their outreach services but that does not guarantee any legal representation

I’m in the process of a very ugly divorce due to domestic violence. My soon-to-be ex is refusing to pay for childcare, trying to petition for primary custodianship, and is also denying that he ever laid hands on me. I am applying for child support, and my DV case is currently waiting on a hearing date, but until either of those are established I’ve been struggling to handle my divorce on my own, and there are no temporary custody orders and every time we exchange our son, I risk not getting him back, but withholding our son doesn’t work in my favor either.

I need help because I can’t do this on my own anymore.

California Becomes First State To Make Sexual Consent Lessons Mandatory In High Schools Beginning Next Year

California has become the first U.S. state to make lessons on sexual consent a requirement at its high schools. The state was also the first nationwide to require colleges and universities to adopt the affirmative consent policy during campus sexual assault investigations.

“The new law mandates all school districts that have made health a graduation requirement to lecture students about sexual violence prevention and affirmative consent starting next year. It also urges state education officials to include those topics to their high school health curriculum, Lisa Leff of The Washington Post wrote. The measure did not receive any opposition in the Legislature, and even nearly received a unanimous bipartisan backing.”

Why build a tiny house instead of buying existing small house or trailer?

The biggest reason for me is creative empowerment.

There are so many things we aren’t in control over. But one of them, if you have some money put aside, is your shelter. There’s something incredibly validating about building my own shelter.

If you think about it, how many things do you create on a daily basis, vs consume? How much of your individualized potential is being expressed in your daily life, vs molded by others?

So many of us wake up in beds designed for the masses, wearing one size fits all PJs, grabbing our push-button coffee out the door on the way to our increasingly commoditized jobs in the car with the “best reviews”.

Best not become unemployed or you’ll lose access to your pharmaceutically manufactured pills. That would make the CEOs very angry.

I sleepwalked through 3 years of consumption before I finally realized I’m not even participating in my own life!

In my house, everything is exactly how I want. And if it’s not, I’ll have intimate knowledge how to change it.

Solar power, heated floors, loft speakers, enclosed shower, four-burner range… Hell a garden in my living room if I so desire. I can have it all in 150 sq ft. for about $30,000. And go anywhere with all that too. And no one can evict me or foreclose on it.

So apparently, the land DAPL bought in the surrounding area was covered in a poison meant to kill prairie dogs way back sometime before April presumably to control the animals in advance of construction. Except, DAPL was lazy about the stuff, if you were a rancher you’d know that the guidelines for it are that you have to go through and retrieve all the dead prairie dogs after use. The construction company lacking any reasonable competency in land management simply sprayed the area and left the prairie dogs to rot. As a result a number of bald eagles and bison were found dead, in April, which was probably what contributed to the EPA and department of the interior requesting the plan be revisited. So…we’re in an awkward place, where clearly the company is being investigated for improper use of prairie dog poison, what did not happen as is being suggested in the tweets is intentional spreading of rat poison on the camps, especially since the areas of Wilder Ranch, and Cannonball Ranch are near the protests, but aren’t where the protests are being held. The reason it couldn’t be intentional is that it happened before the protests began, and again, not where they’re at. What they did do however is abuse the use of these chemicals, which can cause damage to the groundwater and mess up the areas nearby depending on how they’re spread. So it should be the responsibility of DAPL to make clear that they broke the law in their use of these poisons, and that due to their negligence the area surrounding the construction site has been contaminated.
