                                          SO THE FIRST THING that’s going to HAPPEN, you understand, is that mello WILL LOSE any sense of PRIVACY he had before. matt’s going to rush him, he’s going to HUG him, he’s not going to let go. it’s probably going to be the MOST EMOTION he’s ever outwardly shown, to be honest. ESPECIALLY in front of mello. but he realizes how close he came to losing him, mello, who’s REALLY been his rock for so long, been one of the ONLY people he’s had to think of as his. he’s REALIZED what that would mean, what it would COST him, how IMPORTANT mello is. so he’s going to be dedicated to making sure that NEVER happens. 

first, that’ll be shown through never leaving him alone, through being by his SIDE through any recovery he has. it’ll be close to smothering him, honestly, but he just wants to make sure mello’s ALRIGHT, that he hasn’t LOST HIM. farther from the event, though, it’ll just show in renewed DEDICATION. if matt was straying at all before, he won’t be. he’ll be RIGHT ALONG at mello’s heels. ANYTHING mello tells him to do, he will. if mello says JUMP, matt goes HOW HIGH ? it’ll eventually end up with him dead, but even so, it’s NOT something he knows how to regret. not when, in return, he gets to feel INTRINSIC to mello’s life. 

of course, the SECOND thing he does is change mello’s ringtone on his phone to DISCO INFERNO.
