her eldest is receiving a hug upon entering her room . he hasn’t been able to come by for a few weeks , & she has missed him . hands flatten gently against his back & she pulls away , delicate digits wrapping ever so gently around his hand . “ I hope you’ve been well. “

“i have,” his reply comes just as soft-- low-- and he lowers himself into the seat besides the bed. times like these, with her, were always limited, saved for hours of the night when the city finally lags. he makes sure to enjoy them. “i talked with dad today. he didn’t seem too happy to see me.”
