Fascinating board company from Canada Colonialism Skateboards uses board art as a means to educate people on indigenous history and colonial abuse. I earnestly advise you to check out this interview with Michael Langan. It begins evocatively with him challenging a security guard about his right to skate in the city because it his indigenous land. That is a real nice twist on David Harvey and Lefebvre right there.

The board art from this company is evocative and close to the bone. I can’t help thinking of Marc McKee’s Accidental Gun Death for Blind, Guy Mariano. It has that same jarring affect. Yet, because it is on a skateboard it encourages you to think differently about the content. 

Of course the religious symbolism on these boards is also a big draw for me. I am glad to see that they are creating a dialogue too. Much more is available on the Colonialism Skateboards website. Take a look.
