//I hc that the Veritas crew occasionally worry about Xenon’s tendency to do nothing but work and travel around killing things. They try to acknowledge the fact that underneath their tireless combat cyborg field-worker is just a kid who had a normal life, childhood, and humanity completely stripped from him. Protection Squad-mode is really cemented in for them when they see Xenon break down and get depressed when he thought Beryl was dead. Edwin feels most responsible for Xenon, being his primary weapons outfitter and maintenance man (especially early on before Xenon starts becoming more self-reliant tech-wise). And Edwin believes that cereal and cartoons on a Saturday morning in one’s pajamas are very important for the developing psyche.
