air show

practice day 08.28.2014 for the Cleveland National Air Show which officially starts on Saturday 8.30

the big event of the day was of course the blue angels. they held two practice sessions although the one around lunchtime did not seem as long as the one in the afternoon. the afternoon set was truly an experience. the vantage point from my apartment is near perfect except for action which is right close to the runway itself ... if only a few trees were taken down ! ha ha !!

my highlights were of course the goosebump-generating noise and the absolute precision with which they fly the aircraft in close formation. favorite of the day was when one of they executed a high-speed breaking turn right about my head which yielded some interesting vapor trails.

what price ?

Corporal Jeffrey Allen Boskovitch, KIA, Haditha, August 2005; Rest in Peace. Too many have died for the wrong reasons. Jeffery was a personal loss like so many have had. Too many. To see the impact of a 'Bush-League-War' first hand is a painful reminder of the price paid to impose 'our' freedom on certain parts of the world. The loss of a 'shoulder-to-shoulder comrade' is hard. To be helpless thousand of miles away is indescribable. Jeff was an aspiring police officer on my Team at National City Bank. You don't get much more all-american than he was. Engaged to wonderful girl who he should have married a year later. How much has Shelly lost to never know what could have been. He and I would have lunch often and he would pick my brain about how he could plan to end up in the role I had. Always immaculately turned out at work ... executives would ask to be driven by him. Polite, caring, & always thinking. The best thing I can say about Jeff is he was going somewhere ... PD ... Law ... Senate ... ??? He DID have it that much together. His patriotism is obvious. There are too many accounts like this. p.s. my team at the bank worked 72+ hours w/o sleep to make sure his mother, who also worked at the bank, did not see the video & photos of her son. i feel some satisfaction that after almost 10 years there is almost nowhere you can find the video. RIP Jeff ... sorry you can't have my job ... I really wish you could have ... you were VERY high on the long range succession plan. STOP WASTING OUR FUTURE !!!!

no debt

there is no such thing as debt in friendship. relatively the scales at times might not always be in balance ... but friendship & framily is not about a point in time. it is one of the greatest continuums know to human-kind. the ebb and flow of lives, situations, contemporaneous events, the kaos of a random world is transcended by those very meaningful to us. foibles, irritations, disagreements need to be  set aside by the very nature of the definition of love. what i can give today i might need back in 10 years. kingdoms have been forged and lost this way.

there is no universal standard for measuring emotional quotient (EQ) or current brain state. it has to be adaptive; EQ, must evolve. rigid thinking won't help. negotiation and communication are key. we find affinity at times in differences. doesn't make it inherently incorrect because it is two standard deviations outside the norm.

PROHIBITION:

many brilliant minds from many disciplines have weighed in on The War Against Drugs (TWAD) over time. why is it a ‘war?’ because for the Industrial Military Complex (IMC) it has to be. wars, incursions, coup d’état’s, etc., are an unreliable source of budgetary funding. if anyone wonders whether history gets rewritten in the US ... question what is in your children's text books !!! In October 2003, Rumsfeld approved a secret Pentagon "roadmap" on public relations, calling for "boundaries" between information operations abroad and the news media at home. The Roadmap advances a policy according to which as long as the U.S. government does not intentionally target the American public, it does not matter that psychological operations, reach the American public.

trade sanctions

trade sanctions do not work as intended. embargoes or outright unilateral dismissal of diplomatic recognition is sure to work. not. cutting all ties with a significant other really doesn't advance the goals of the one severing unless the wrong is so heinous. and it has to be a consistent severing to be effective. silent treatment and turning off their debit-card is sure to bring your ‘partner’ back immediately. changing your mind every now and then about why you want to live or not live with them i don’t think would last too long. if you cared enough to invoke those kinds of measures against sovereign nations with trickle-down effects, did ‘willingly you knew’ the the worst impact is on those intended to be bettered by such policies? rhetorical. there will never be such a reckoning.  i’ll always rail against what does not make sense. troops on ‘our’ side getting killed by weapons we provided seems less than pragmatic.
