“Live a little, Sean,” Elise teased. Besides, it wasn’t like they were afforded ALL the time in the world - not anymore, at least. It was simultaneously motivating and stressful to know how close they got to that damned game. “Is that a challenge? Because I’m up for it – and stickers are cute! My piano teacher used to put them on my music sheets once I had mastered playing my assigned songs.”
“Suuuure - keeping telling yourself that. If Ivy liked me that much, I’d be using that to my advantage,” Elise admitted. “On the bright side, maybe we’ll get matching bruises. Kind of like tattoos except not permanent. Unless we all do get tattoos.”
She poked him back, grinning, “don’t be so boring! We can leave if you want, but I’m not sure what we’ll do after - and don’t say training.”
Sean couldn’t help but roll his eyes. Sure he wanted to be able to just move about the town as he wanted. People moving out of his way, whispering in awe as he passed by. But that wasn’t possible unless he won this game. Too much of a good thing put him in jeopardy of losing not just what he worked for but his life as well. “I live enough for now. I’ll live so much better after I’ve won this game.” He huffed out. But his annoyance only lasted a few moments before his trademark grin was back. “It was by all means a challenge. I’m not really the cute kinda person. Sounds like a nice thing. Doesn’t really mean much but it’s a cute gesture. If your a kid.”
“If the advantage is that you get your ass kicked more I don’t think you’d take it. ‘Cause that’s the advantage I get out of it.” He barked out a short laugh, with not a lot of humor behind it. “Yeah, matching bruises. Sounds like a total blast. I don’t think we’re all going to get tattoos. You really want to make a bond with people you’re going to have to kill?”
“I’m not boring. I’m just being a bit of a realist. Up to you, Elise.” He shrugged, this time bumping her with a shoulder. “I’m heading out and I’ll figure out something,-” Before she could say anything he lifted a finger to pause her, “Which won’t be training. Promise. As much as that means.”
