Viney is definitely more in her element with pet regressors/dreamers — she loves all critters!

Has a soft spot for griffin regressors/dreamers specifically :3

Gives many belly rubs/scratches behind the ears

Will always play with her critter’s paw beans if given the chance

Allows plenty of roughhousing & horseplay and often involved in said roughhousing

That being said Viney always has a first aid kit on hand too - just in case!

She will put her critters in air jail if they go too far though — even if they’re twice her size — she’ll find a way

Uses nicknames like critter, creature, bug, beastie, or beast to refer to all her pet regressors/dreamers

When caring for a winged regressor/dreamers Viney will tie a blanket around their neck like a cape to act as “wings”

Same with regressors/dreamers with paws, she has plenty of mittens, gloves, etc. with paws on them :3

Knows mostly cat regressors/dreamers, (Emira, Amity & Luz), but also a puppy regressor (Barcus), a wolf regressor (Hunter), 1 bard fox dreamer (Skara), & a jerboa/parrot dreamer (Jerbo)

Constantly has to remind Barcus & Hunter NOT to drink water from gardening hoses — even when she’s chasing them around with one

Viney notices each time she takes care of Emira, her she loses either a sweater, hat, or scarf

Viney makes her own chew toys, they’re harder and stronger to endure witch fangs

An expert at hiding medicine in snacks

Viney found out what agere was through classes in the healing track! (Before she got sent to the detention track)

Okay with taking care of age regressors with any regressor range

Her caregiving style doesn’t really change with age regressors compared to pet regressors, Viney is still very much herself :3

Outdoorsy caregiver, plenty of nature walks, climbing trees, flying, etc.

Will allow her little ones to feed/pet Puddles if they have been good

Viney has a sweet and savory tooth, expect lots ‘n lots of snacks

Go-to lunch for little ones is probably a peanut butter, chocolate & banana sandwich with either pretzels or goldfish

Honestly okay with any caregiver title. Mama, big sister, baba, nona, just Viney, etc.

Smells like s’mores and pine needles for some reason

Big on showing physical affection but a lot of it is subtle. A head pat here, a touch on the shoulder there, squeezing her little one’s hand to show she’s listening, etc.

Gives the best hugs, “biggggg squeeze!!”

Loves giving her little ones piggyback rides

When dealing with really little ones, she’ll laugh when they fall over or trip (most little kids’ reactions to falling will almost alway depend on their parents’ reactions unless they’re seriously injured) afterwards she’ll scoop ‘em up and check for scraps or bruises just in case

Probably good at making shadow puppets

Knows a bunch of sea shanties and will often hum/sing them as lullabies

Amazing storyteller, will get wrapped up in the story and reenacts scenes from books with her little ones (Luz especially loves this)

The age regressors/dreamers Viney takes care of most is Emira, Luz, Amity, & Gus!

Emira typically age dreams around 8-10 years old, but she’s typically the caregiver for her siblings — with Viney though she feels safe & comfy enough to fully regress

Viney likes taking Emira to Lacuna Lake to chat or collect seashells :3

so, it's clear that alador and odalia were both abusive parents in their own ways. while odalia stressed perfection and projected her life onto amity, alador took no part in standing up to his wife and never paid any attention to his children unless they were doing something "wrong."

we can see the effect this has on amity as she constantly makes it clear that her parents expect a lot from her despite her being the youngest. just dying her hair alone was one of her first steps to freeing herself from the things they put her through. even her siblings sometimes added on to their behavior, but they had their responses to their own forms of abuse from their parents as well.

despite edric and emira being twins, it was confirmed in a few posts that emira is the eldest of the three--even then, it would've been obvious considering how she seems to be the one taking care of them at times.

too obvious.

as a result of alador's "absence" and odalia's attention being on the wrong things, emira was forced at a young age to be the one who takes care of her brother and sister. in addition, edric becomes just a little bit of an attention seeker, and desperately needs some kind of reminder that he's being useful to someone, as his parents never gave him those kinds of affirmations.

as teenagers, the twins are going through puberty and odalia insists that they hide their blemishes and unique features with concealment stones. nothing is is wrong with the way emira and edric naturally look─they're growing up. there is a possibility that their parents didn't directly give them concealment stones for this reason, but this doesn't change that there is also a chance that odalia and alador convinced ed and em that they need to "look perfect."

i mean, they don't seem all that nervous about their appearances after taking the stones off for amity to use. emira even tells edric not to pick at his acne or he'd make it worse, for his health and most likely so odalia wouldn't throw a tantrum about appearances.

in "reaching out," emira is shown to have learned plenty of healing spells, even before joining the healing track. she had to have known them for a while, and as the older sibling in my current household, i can take a guess why.

due to the absence of proper parenting from both alador and odalia, emira took on the "parent" role and looked out for her siblings. healing them when they got hurt, giving them attention when it was necessary (mostly for edric considering his need for validation and being useful).

in doing this, she probably hardly made time for herself to pursue her own interests and do the things she likes. in "enchanting grom fright," as they say their fears in unison, edric says "being alone forever." he's gotten close to very few people, and as emira grows overwhelmed from "being the mom" and amity is following odalia's footsteps, he most likely feels like he and his siblings are drifting apart. it's clear that he hardly has any friends, and doesn't have a lot of people to hang out with since he's almost always seen beside his twin.

in the same breath, emira says "being stuck with you forever" to edric not because she doesn't like being around him, but because she'd been his "parental figure" their whole life.

one of my friends in a discord server said that it reminded them of katara and sokka, where sokka says that no matter how much he tries to remember their late mother, he can only picture katara, since she was always the one who cared for him.

in "reaching out," the twins respond with clear distaste when alador says that amity cannot take part in the brawl and that he didn't need her help in dealing with warden wrath. they love their little sister and are very aware of how their parents treat her differently than how they treat them.

i wouldn't put it past them that there were several off-screen and not mentioned occasions where the twins stuck up for each other, but also stood up for amity when their parents were stepping out of line. older siblings tend to be very protective of their younger brothers and/or sisters, even if it means getting in trouble for it. i'm not sure if it's nature for it to be that way, but most of the time it's true (not all of the time.)

despite all this, how broken the family is, emira, edric and amity care so much about each other. i would've loved to see them bounce back from that awful environment, and i really like seeing fan works/theories of their past. if you have anything to add feel free!

moon swings

moon swings occur when a witch reaches a certain age (+16), and it is somewhat similar to human menstrual cycles. however, any witch of any gender can go through them, regardless of what they would've been assigned at birth in the human realm.

when a witch goes has moon swings, they may act differently than they normally do, often becoming clingy and sensitive. it is also likely that they might change their diet or have irregular cravings for consumables they wouldn't usually eat.

fertility, litters and labels

witches and demons have fertility levels just as most (if not all) reproducing creatures do. the lower their fertility rate, the harder it is for them to produce offspring. rituals can be done to increase and decrease fertility levels, but they are very pricey, dangerous, and not always guaranteed to work as intended.

witches & demons produce litters of 1 - 4 witchlings or demonlings. litters can be different sizes, even if the same parents are producing them. (ex: odalia and alador's first litter was a pair of twins. their second litter consisted of just 1 witchling.)

young witches are called witchlings, witchlettes, and kittens (ex: amity, gus, willow). young demons are called demonlings, spawns, and cubs (ex: king). there are occasions where the two mix, creating halflings and spauns (ex: boscha). There are entities that are neither demon nor witch, and they usually have their own labels for young ones. in this headcanon, young grimwalkers can be called a variety of things, such as; grimtoddlers, grimcrawlers, grimmies, grimlings, and grimlettes (ex: hunter) .

because homophobia does not exist on the boiling isles, it is safe to assume that same sex, sexless, intersex (etc.) couples and 2+ relationships can produce offspring in the usual mammal way (unless they are like titans, who can reproduce asexually). those who carry and produce the offspring are commonly referred to as "carriers" or "lifebringers." the other parent (or parents) is known as the "sire," regardless of sex.
