Have you ever thought Hopper contacted Joyce but she initiates the first contact with him in the church scene? This ‘Cuuute’ and the sexual tension is already rising between them. They even bumped into each other. They were already so in love but afraid to take the first step.

Have you ever noticed this is Joyce who does it? She watches Hopper as he changes and comes up to him. She talks to him about the date !!!!! He would never have dared to ask again. And that fool is talking about food.
