why everyone needs a critical understanding how media works. the implication here is that both the fascists and anti-fascists were attempting to get to one another and so the police used tear gas. in reality, antifascsists were standing in one place, not advancing, but holding a line in front of police. la meute, a few blocks away, was marching forward with police protection, and rather than âkeeping both sides apartâ the police pushed forward into the antifascist line by using clubs, mace/pepper spray, and knocking people down with their shields. what is implied to be a defensive action by the headline was actually an offensive action against antifascists in order to allow fascists to continue marching. aggression against antifascists so that the police could protect fascists while allowing them to accomplish their goals.
this isnât even the worst example from saturday and itâs nothing compared to how skewed media writing can get on other issues. just useful to keep in mind when youâre reading news is how theyâre twisting frames to support power structures.
Modern capitalism-imperialism can be broadly characterized by the development of neocolonialism...
I made some edits to this old piece, to clarify what neocolonialism really means in imperialist countries, its historical role, and Maoismâs place in its defeat.

donât give them freedom, âcause theyâre not gonna give you yours.

Things that no one tells you about being a transwoman that you need to know:
if you are on hormones, you will have to pee 24/7
you are so god damn beautiful
tucking is hard the first time, but it gets easier
you donât have to tuck if you donât want to
there is no ârightâ or âwrongâ way to be trans or to transition
YOu ARE GORGEOUS
you have to learn to love yourself, it will save your life
donât let the rough times with dysphoria dictate how you feel about yourself on a daily basis
you need to acknowledge and cherish the things you like about yourself
know that you are fucking beautiful
drink like eighteen gallons of water a day
pay no mind to people who are ignorant
HONESTLy, SO PRETTY
bras are very sweaty
never feel like a burden for being you
tell yourself that your beautiful everyday
try to find positives in your life, they will help you when everything seems like itâs crumbling
wow, you. are. HOTTTTT.
patience is so important
there are going to be good days and bad days
your nipples are really going to hurt
no
like they will really hurt
if you are seeing a doctor for hormones etc, always be open and honest with any questions or concerns
you are as ***flawless as beyoncĂŠ and donât let anyone tell your differently
you donât have to be feminine to be a woman
donât compare yourself to others
you are valid, you are worth it, and you worthy, you are important.
you are not alone, ever.
YOU ARE GORGEOUS.

Struggling with obsessive dysphoric thoughts the past few days.
I reshaped my brows in spite of that last post.
Hair removal is so annoying.
I love having silky smooth skin, but hate dealing with constantly shaving. My legs actually stay smooth for a while and I donât have a ton of body hair, but I hate my beard shadow so much.
I havenât decided whether I want to commit to laser treatment or just deal with it.
Patrick Cloutier, a âVan Dooâ perimeter sentry, and Anishinaabe Warrior Brad Larocque, staring each other down during the Oka Crisis, a land dispute between a group of Mohawk people and the town of Oka, in Canada, on September 1, 1990 in a photo by Shamei Komulainen.
via reddit
For context, the Canadian government tried to invade unceeded Mohawk lands to build a golf course. In 1990.
For further context, the Mohawk warriors stood up to them in a month-long blockade that ended in a shoot-out which left one canadian special operations member dead and the Anishinaabe still in control of their territory. No-one was charged for the death of the invading millitary member, and the Mohawks are still in cotnrol of their territory (at least, the partsf it that the governement tried to take away here) today. They won.
For even further and more contemporary context from an August 2017 op-ed by Steve Bonspiel, the editor/publisher of Kahnawake Mohawk Territoryâs award-winning weekly newspaper The Eastern Door:Â
Last Saturday [August 12th, 2017] Kanesatake Mohawks and their allies marched from Oka Park to the disputed site just outside the village of Oka where, once again, their land is being sold by a non-Native developer.
This is the same land we fought for in the so-called Oka Crisis in 1990; itâs the same land our ancestors have lived on for tens of thousands of years; the same land the Peacemaker came to first compel us to bury our weapons against each other within the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) Confederacy.
Itâs a 300-year-old fight that is going nowhere.
We donât want another Oka Crisis, but the truth is, the Oka Crisis never ended.
Reblog if youâve ever felt impostor syndrome with your gender and/or sexuality
I know it took me a while after realizing I was gay to not have some weekly panic of âWhat if Iâm not a Real Lesbianâ˘???â Sometimes Iâd think no one would believe me if I came out to them, or even that I wasnât âallowedâ to be gay.Â
I want LGBT folks to know that itâs 100% normal to struggle with those feelings. You can talk to other LGBT folks about those feelings and still have acceptance. Â And also I want you to know that the impostor syndrome doesnât last forever; eventually you will feel comfortable with yourself.Â
Fred Hampton was a true revolutionary. Ahead of his time and gone too soon.
Dropping some knowledge for you. I bet you didnât know that and they wonât teach you something like this at schools. Thatâs a shameful part of the history they want to forget, but you need to know this, to be aware of what happened to our people back then. These people experienced terror and torture just because white people didnât want them free and flourishing.
Canada has also played a role in the ongoing exploitation of Haiti. The Canadian state provided support for and participated in the coup against Aristide in 2004.
