you know that Molly vs Susan whatever character poll thing? I voted for Susan solely because all of the epithet erased servers were talking about her winning and nothing else for weeks and I just wanted it to end.

Oh I remember that poll....

And honestly? Yeah I get it. I don't know anything about where Susan Taxpayer is from so I can't really judge everything (I remember voting Molly because 12 year old child having a job seemed more stressful to me than an adult having a job) but that thing was EVERYWHERE in all the tags.

It was fun seeing the fandom join together for that but I agree that it was getting annoying at some point

I've been thinking a bit about what the future of the series might look like and honestly? I'm not too sure actually.

Epithet Erased had its 5 year anniversary lately and Prison of Plastic is 2 years old. That's actually a pretty good rate. I mean I know myself writing anything takes forever, let alone an actual story.

But PoP is the third book chronologically. Before anything fully new will be released the museum and western arc will have novel adaptations.

I know there will be more stuff added into the books but I feel like this creates two possibilities - one of which will happen per guarantee.

Either something from the show will be in some way retconned in some way which....isn't really nice and even though we're only one book in after the show it could potentially put PoP in a different light than before

Or there won't be much new happening which....is about equally bad.

I assume the museum arc will mostly stay the same. At least I don't see much room for change? Maybe some more details on characters like Sylvie, Mera and Indus and possibly the Amulet. I just don't see much new happening here if I'm honest. Maybe I'm just a bit skeptical but going right back to the start feels a bit unsatisfying to me after Prison of Plastic.

The western arc is bound to have the most additional stuff and I'm honestly looking forward to it. The entire western arc has been pretty much neglected. Not like there was much of a choice since it had less episodes and the characters didn't appear in PoP for obvious reasons.

To put some sense into my rambling: I just can't feel as excited for two books I already know the story of. It's nice of course but I feel like it will either be a bit boring (solely for the lack of new content) or go against something already established. Knowing there will be multiple years of waiting before the story will continue feels a bit disheartening, even though I understand it's necessary.

My personal headcanon is that Howie Honeyglow's blood looks like honey. This includes him having scars in a similar color too.

Hey guys

Sorry for the long quiet. I know I've announced a few big things and didn't drop anything at all.

I...ruined myself a lot of friendships with really awesome people and I'm really doing terrible because of this. I've been quite an asshole I think...and in all honesty I'm a bit scared of showing the same behavior in posts as I haven't fully figured out what I'm doing wrong. Just that I'm doing something terribly wrong

I had people who supported me in my worst times and I feel like I've been terrible to them and while I want to fix this I think they're better off without me in their friendgroup

I'm sorry I shouldn't be talking about stuff like this on this blog. I just feel like I need to get something out and don't know where to go. I'll try to be back soon with actual content

Prison of Plastic but Lorelai hates everyone BUT Molly. Or I guess Prison of Plastic but she’s nice to Molly instead of Giovanni.

This is...actually really interesting. Lorelai is nice to Molly but nothing else changes

Molly essentially getting love bombed by her sister but she's still not helping

Lorelai not doing her chores, barely helping at the store, still spending all day in her bubble but as soon as she notices something is wrong or Molly is feeling sad she tries everything to lift her mood. Making little spells for her, barging into her room for some social time, trying to do what "sisters are supposed to do" and wanting to play with her. She's trying her best but she doesn't understand this won't fix anything. Lori is just painting over a wall full of cracks and mold and tries to forget all the problems but her being nice to her little sister won't help Molly work shifts at the store, missing school, having no free time and being neglected by their father. She tries to fill the social role but fails at everything else

She doesn't fall for Giovanni at all. Actually I doubt she'd even like him in this scenario. It's not just jealousy. Seeing Molly rather spend time with her friends already hurts Lorelai but Giovanni (or as he introduces himself "Vincent Murder") is something different. This isn't some kid from her class or something, this is an adult. While Giovanni has nothing but good intententions, it would make sense for Lori to be concerned her 12 year old sister is friends with a 19 year old who talks and dresses really weirdly....also there's currently some maybe dying man here as well (aka Rick) which isn't making this any better. I think every responsible older sibling would be somewhat disturbed to meet the "new friend" of your sister whom you never heard of they're 7 years older. Realising Giovanni fills out this "big brother" role for Molly and being someone responsible in her life only makes this worse. SHE is Molly's sibling. She's her damn sister! She can't she be enough? That's not fair! Lorelai is trying her best, really! She's being replaced as a playmate AND a family member

Lorelai being a sweet sister but nothing else changing is an interesting thought for an au. Essentially it's a different kind of abuse. Instead of neglect and cruel words Molly is showered by love from her sister, but nothing changes. Lorelai is nice and all but she still doesn't help and it hurts. It hurts to have people be kind to you and yet not being helped. Someone trying to make the frown of working all night disappear, but still not doing their shifts. It really would shift the weight of a lot of the emotional scenes and I really like that. Lorelai is attempting to put a band-aid on an open wound. It's just not enough

How do you think Molly would react to becoming a werebear(not necessarily D&D’s version, could be Gurahl, or something)

I think at first she would be pretty horrified and scared. Bears are cool and stuff but imagine your body suddenly morphing into a completely different form (that's not what school said about puberty smh)

After some time she'd probably really enjoy it. Yes, it's a little weird and Molly would need time to get used to it. After all, bears are a lot stronger than a malnutritioned 12 year old girl. And pretty much everything is different. But then again this is something incredible cool and while she needs to be careful it is essentially a dream come true for this little bear cub

Wait, back in anime campaign rick used to write down "surface slang" on his arm, but that was in 2017. Do you think he has stuff like "skibidi toilet" and "rizz" written on his arm now? I'd write the full thing to really show you what I really meant, but I don't feel LIKE IT AT ALL.

Never watched anime campaign (not even the episodes jello uploaded) but this is really interesting. I like this idea

Imagine walking down the street, seeing this man pull up his sleeve while in a conversation and he's reading words from his arm. You take a quick look. All you can see is "rizz", "skibidi toilet", "gyat" and "ohio" (which is probably somewhere in Australia in this world)

Yeah. Prison of Plastic taught me chocolate has a scent. Like, you can smell it. I thought it was scentless, people can smell chocolate? That's just a normal everyday thing?

I love Epithet Erased and I have so many thoughts about it, I just needed to get it off my chest that my mind is blown by this fact. I forget that just because I don't have a sense of smell that smell doesn't just not exist.

I love this series and all it teaches you.

I was so confused how you couldn't know this until I read you don't have a sense of smell. Yes anon, chocolate does have a smell! Actually, pretty much everything has a smell. But don't worry, most people don't notice this. You can basically become smell blind if you smell the same thing too often (basically you don't really activly register smells if they are too constant and don't change up in a while) (like if your room constantly smelled like lemons you wouldn't notice the lemon smell anymore because you're so used to it)

Here's a small list of other things that have smells in case you're curious:

weather (e.g. rain, snow)

cold

smoke

bodies of water (sea and rivers and lakes all smell different)

pretty much every food as a special smell

sometimes memories can have smells (I know it sounds weird but it's basically your head making up what this moment smelled like)

animals

dirt

sometimes even being sleepy can trigger smells

books

and noteworthy mention: old things smell very different from new things!

Like I know everything *has* a scent. But it like doesn't register that things have scents, some things give off the vibe of not having a scent. And since scents aren't really brought up in day to day life I just forget until it's brought up.

It makes sense that new and old things smell different, people always talk about new car smell and new book smell.

But like cold? Water? They don't have the vibes of having a scent.

Yeah I'd assume like any other sense if there's too many smells you’d get overwhelmed or if there's something you're around long enough you grow used to it.

Like I don't need to learn about coping with guilt and learning to live with trauma and how to not be evil or whatever Prison of Plastic is trying to teach, I just want to learn if metal has a scent.

How does cold have a scent? Cold is a feeling. Mind blown.

I honestly want to expand on this because I just really like this topic if I'm honest. I could just say "oh yeah there's reactions and stuff which causes us to smell things because of [insert scientific explanation]" but that feels boring.

Actually, I'm quite the opposit. I have a very unique well of smelling. I can even smell illness. People usually can't do this but I for some reason can. I'm usually treated like a freak for this but it's pretty cool if you ask me. Like something with your throat smells rotting to me and stingy, while a common cold is hard and rough like something lingering

Explaining smells is really difficult. Not just because...well how would you explain the color green to someone who has never seen any plants or paint, but also because everyone experiences them in such different ways

I can try putting it like feelings. Smells trigger emotional reactions after all

Cold is like a hug. Someone holding you tight you once used to love dearly but who is nothing but a stranger by now. It is fresh but not in a new way. Like something you both love and hate and yet can't call neutral. It's a bit like something is missing. Barely any plans and animals, most things go into hiding from the cruel temperatures. It's clean but in an uncanny way. A bit like freedom but one that has a great price attached to it

Water is similar to cold (fun fact: this is because we can't FEEL water. We feel everything that is water like texture and temperature but we aren't able to feel what wet actually feels like) but water is more comforting. Like an old friend. Seas smell big and like adventure. You can smell the salt and animals that inhabit it, the birds traveling miles in the sky. You smell the water clashing against constructs, mixing with the sand. You can smell the plants that grow in waters. What type there are, how many, how they're fighting over the space and thriving in the summer sun. You can smell the fish living in them and how rivers constantly move, carrying everything with them

And yes, metals DO have a smell! A very special one even. Actually, blood and metal have a VERY similar smell because there's iron in blood (which is where describtions like "the metallic smell of blood" come from. This is a real thing!) Cold is like something round and smooth but then as if there are little spikes. No hard ones though, a bit like foam rubber. Leaving a feeling but not hurting you

I just kinda felt like sharing this with you. I'm really happy you got to learn something new from the book (and how it seems from me as well, I guess)
