Merry Christmas from Annie and I! I will be posting minimally for the next few weeks as I will be on holiday and ponies will have a wee break.Don’t worry, they will be in great hands while I am gone, I will just miss them so much.

Love my boys :)
Sunny came to the beach too - he loves his babysitting job!
I took Lux to the beach yesterday, I think this picture explains exactly how it went! We had a great time and there were lots of new things for Lux to experience. He is really a water baby at heart, he was just a little concerned about the white part of the breaking waves to start. Very brave pony!
Pole work with Annie :) Excuse my total lack of contact with her. It was our first time going over this many poles at once so wanted to stay well out of her way so she could figure it out herself, which she did very well!
Lux is just amazing :) I constantly need to remind myself he is only four as he takes almost everything in his stride and I don’t want to overload him too soon, such a cool horse to have around.
Annie is a real water baby now, after much discussion :)
Now I have him at a decent weight we can start thinking about building up that topline!
I really need to work on getting better quality photos - at least the crappy ones still show how relaxed Lux was on Sunday, check out that bottom lip! He is putting weight on well and I am absolutely stoked with his progress in such a short time.
My grey team! Both horse were exceptionally well behaved yesterday and I am so roud of them. It was Lux’s first outing and Annie gave her best ride yet!
Ignore the goon riding her - but I think Annie looks so sweet in this picture. We are all set to have another fantastic ride tomorrow, hopefully with much better weather than this one.
In other news, Sunny is improving incredibly by the day and looks like he should make a full recovery. He will be on a very strict and careful feed plan for the rest of his life to prevent any recurrences.
Well this week has been an absolute nightmare... I really thought it was the end for Sunny. The weather has been absolutely wack for the last two weeks and it has sent the grass crazy. (We are in the southern hemisphere so we are in spring). Two days ago Sunny developed the most severe case of staggers I have ever seen. He lost almost all deliberate use of his hind legs and was constantly dragging himself around. I knew that if he fell down he was not going to be getting back up. It was not looking good.
Fast forward to today - I have him on a super toxin binder and off of grass for now. He is grumpy at me because he thinks he is on a diet, but he is walking and looking a lot more co-ordinated. My hopes are high for a decent recovery, but now he has had it once he is always going to be susceptible, so something to keep an eye on. At 30 years old he thinks his time with us is not quite over, and I am so grateful.
On top of everything I have had 2 exams for uni to sit this week. They were a bit of a mess but I think I have my priorities right at this stage.
My jacket makes me look huge but I love how Annie looks in this photo on our last ride. It was a terrible, rainy day, my truck didn’t want to start, everything got soggy in a second and I was partnered up with someone that was seriously difficult to deal with - but it makes it all worth it when she gives me a ride like she did last Sunday.
Annie and I had a beautiful ride at the beach today, it was such a great way to relax before exams start at uni!
Dorky pony :P
Sorry about the quality guys - I just thought I would show you a picture of Lux looking more like an old hack than a green thoroughbred! His attitude just blows me away every time I see him.
Go pony! Annie at our first CTR of the season two weeks ago. She was a little pocket rocket and I am so proud of her.
