My love for science doesnât preclude my faith. For me, science is another language we use to talk about the same miracles faith talks about.

Before the availability of the tape recorder and during the 1950s, when vinyl was scarce, people in the Soviet Union began making records of banned Western music on discarded x-rays. With the help of a special device, banned bootlegged jazz and rock ânâ roll records were âpressedâ on thick radiographs salvaged from hospital waste bins and then cut into discs of 23-25 centimeters in diameter. âThey would cut the X-ray into a crude circle with manicure scissors and use a cigarette to burn a hole,â says author Anya von Bremzen. âYouâd have Elvis on the lungs, Duke Ellington on Aunt Mashaâs brain scan â forbidden Western music captured on the interiors of Soviet citizens.â
SO AMAZING.
I came back here to share this post I saw the other day. Fish are beautiful, living creatures. They might not express emotion or personality like dogs or cats, but they are extraordinary albeit small things. It hurts my heart to see these once free fish get cooped up like this, living in their own waste in broom closets, in the pet store, and in some kidâs grossly small tank or an adultâs wine glass or tupperware container once theyâre bought. Fish need good living space, water quality, and a proper type of environment. They might be hardy and seem able to live in tiny spaces with no care, but so can humans in the poorest of slums. Before you buy a fish, make sure you can take care of it. And I hope that one day people will try to change how inhumane theyâre treated in stores.
