Merfolk are known to be quite the hoarders. They often steal, keep and search for precious little trinkets they find interesting and beautiful.

Most of the time, these treasures are used eventually as courting gifts. They’re little tokens of admiration, a representation of the mer’s fondness for the other.

However. There’s one gift they’re not too easy on giving out.

When a merperson is deeply taken by their partner, and wishes to cherish them for as long as life allows them, they pluck a scale off their tail; the biggest, glossiest of them, and offers it to their partner as a sign of loyalty, and love.

The process is incredibly painful, but to them, if accepted, the reward is worth the grief.

Hi!! I hope you, your boyfriend, and puppy are doing great! I love your blog so much and how you try and keep an open but honestly mind about everything. I was wondering if you knew any good ereri blogs to follow? It's kinda hard to find some when so many can be closed minded to don't cite or ask permission for art :(

Sadly I’m not as active in the ereri fandom anymore so there are probably a lot of people I don’t know about. But I can direct you to my co-mods over at @ererievents (a good place to check for current fanfic writers and artists, btw!): @lampurple, @ereriere, @jaegersaint, @naruniverse & @coolsiberiahwinter.

I’ll try to recommend only those who I think are still relatively active (post at least once a day).
