The original concept was completed in 2023 and I was never fully happy with it. Glad to take another crack at it and develop it into a piece I can be proud of.

Here's what's currently cooking in the kitchen.
In an attempt to keep up with engagement online I rushed a concept and ended up hating the result. I decided to revisit it two years later and give it new life. Here's a look at hashing out the original and giving it new life. Music: AFI - The Interview
A Simple Departure
I walked away from this painting a year and a half ago, fully frustrated with its progress. I've learned to not force creativity and give space when needed. Returning to it over a year after starting it and adjusting the color spectrum opened the path forward to finding the inspiration to complete it. Give yourself grace and don't be afraid to put things down when it doesn't feel right.
Available for digital download and as a print(fully customizable) via #zazzle . See link in comments. Coming to Displate soon.
Hands are not my strong point. In fact, nothing makes me want to throw hands more than drawing/painting them, but here I am, doing things that make me uncomfortable.
Slowly chipping away and incorporating new elements. About 90% down now.
A Simple Departure WIP #11
You might be thinking: "just how long is this guy gonna work on this?" The answer is, "Yes". I decided to pivot with this bird, preserving just its head and starting over from scratch.
Currently nestling this guy right into the heart of my painting.
Spent more time than I would have liked on adding in this rose, but it was definitely worth it! Swipe to see how this painting has progressed.
Adding a little somthin' to this painting that has been sitting for over a year.

It's been a minute, but we're cooking again!
Took a good amount of time off from this to focus on other things. Hopefully I can continue to find more time to keeping working on it.
Had some fun with this little guy and felt that artistic spark again, which I haven't felt for a few months now
Slow going here and still fighting art block and the energy to keep working on this.
Still chipping away at this when I get a chance.

Time Lapse
Lately I've been struggling with what every artist inevitably faces, "artist's block." In the past I've let it get to me and cause months to years of without picking up a pencil. I'm doing my best to fight through it and keep creating, even if I'm not excited about it, and even if it means focusing on simpler concepts.

This is a reimagining of a painting I did in 2010 that I've always wanted to revisit. The original can be seen here.
