scripts and a bottle of tennessee honey

There should have been several red flags raising in her head, and maybe, if this meeting had happened a year ago, they would have been raised but the more Alexandra thought about this, the more comfortable she felt about it. Yes, she was going to Ericâs place to help him pick new projects, yes it had been something that she used to do back when they were married, but now that the feelings had changed, this could easily be the kind of thing that friends would do. She did care about him. So what their relationship had ended? Â Couldnât they attempt to find a middle ground and possibly become friends? Lots of people managed to do so, so why couldnât them do the same? They werenât different than most. Besides, she genuinely wanted to see him happy, even if they couldnât do it together and his career, just like hers, was a big part of his life, and that made him happy, so it couldnât hurt to help in the first place. Sheâs always had a good eye for these sorts of things anyway.
Alex stepped into the hotel he was staying, wondering if Eric was ever going to find a place to stay instead of being in a hotel. She had always found them to be so cold and detached. It wasnât like having a home, of course, but then again, maybe Eric didnât consider Melbourne his home in the first place. It was none of her business. She had an opinion on it of course, but it was none of her business. Alexandra gave her name to the person at the reception desk and waited to be allowed up before she made her way to the elevator. These fancy hotels⊠she wasnât going to lieâshe did miss them and their comfortable beds. Not that her bed wasnât comfortable, of course. It was. Best bed in the world⊠and it was all hers.
As she stepped out of the elevator once the doors opened, she looked for Ericâs door number and knocked. Alex smiled when he showed up by the door and lifted up the bottle o Tennessee Honey that she had brought. âI thought we might need one of those.â Letting out a chuckle, she stepped closer and pressed a kiss on his cheek. âHi, curls. How are you? Howâs the show going?â
It was almost as if it was instinct to be asking Alex to help him pick out scripts for when he was done shooting. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that Alex knew him better than anyone. She knew his strengths as an actor and she knew what he needed to be challenged and to not grow easily bored with the character. Even when they were married, he always sought her advice on certain roles and she had been the reason his career was the way that it was. If it wasnât for her intuition, Eric would have probably been stuck in some shitty CW show where he was contracted to play the same damn character for ten years or something. He was thankful for everything Alex had done for him and he knew he owed her a lot. It was one of the reasons why he promised himself that if Alex ever needed him he would drop everything for her. That and because he loved her dearly still.
Getting up from the couch when he heard a knock on his door, Eric then got up and opened the door for her. With a smile on his face, he laughed a little at her greeting and shook his head. âAlex, always a pleasure to see you,â he teased and without much thought leaned in as well when she moved to kiss him on the cheek. His heart fluttered a little, an instinctual reaction whenever Alex was around and did something intimate to him. âHow have you been?â he wondered while shutting the door behind her. âDo you want something to eat? We can always get room service,â he offered, walking into the living room where his scripts laid. âI might have had my agent send in all the scripts that was offered to me. I also point formed everything in case you donât wanna go through it all.â
