as much as i love ashrah from a gameplay/aesthetic standpoint, her story is very… sour

both her original and new era lore is almost an exact mirror:

- defying quan chi

-getting chased out of the netherrealm by her sisters, finding her kriss along the way

-finding out killing with the kriss can cleanse her spirit, and thus dedicates her life to absolving her sins with it

the only instance there is of her showing any empathy is with sareena in the new era, which she’s reserved about (we only find this out in her mk1 ending)

ashrah’s story otherwise is deadass just her being interested in absolving herself. she’s not worried if there’s other demons that feel the same way she does or if they’re as evil as they’re all perceived to be. she just kills them for her own benefit.

also in the original era when the kriss revealed itself to be datusha and was a cursed sword to kill vampires. ashrah still was apathetic and went to massacre vampires.

she’s always seen someone not-human (ermac, reptile in lizard form, baraka) and assumed automatically it’s a demon, therefore attacks it with zero hesitation. that’s why i view ashrah as sort of a racist guided by religious psychosis.

Since I watched Mk 9s story mode, Heres some rambling observations. (Compleatly out of order and without context)

Either Smoke has no chill or he gives all his chill to Kuai Liang and becomes a feral gremling man when seperated from his Buddy.

Raiden is at his best when hes sassy.

Liu Kang May have wounded Johnny, but Kung Lao straight up eradicated him.

Kabals got priorities.

Kuai Liang got himself a little fan club also he really likes to just freeze his enemies instead of killing them.

Not Kung Lao stepping up to fight but then silently stepping Back after glanzing at Raiden like he didn't want to dissapoint him.

Also Kung Lao got lot More chill than Liu Kang.

"silent as The night, deadly as The Dawn" cant tell If thats a Lin kuei thing or just Smoke and Tundra thing.

Bi-han gets made fun of for making Scorpion mad, but cyrax was The one to pick a fight with him.

Raiden really did go and offer dead Earthrealm Warriors souls to Quan chi, KNOWING FULL WELL KUNG LAO WAS AMONG THEM.

Jax deserves More love for being such a protective friend.

Nightwolf just has The ability to compleatly obliderate Sindel ...and also himself huh.

Kuai Liang is against AI

Kitana and Jades friendship is sweet, wish there was More.

Scorpion really did just leave when he saw Kuai Liang being restrained(?) by The cyber Lin kuei.
