hi, i’m álise, and my special interest is mortal kombat :3

I’ve been obsessed with this game since i was 5 years old, playing deception (apparently my mom turned off the blood). i’ve read into the lore extensively AND repeatedly, and i’ve played most of the games at least once (im not touching the classic arcade ones again, they piss me off)

favorite characters: jade, ermac, cyrax, kenshi, sonya, rain

favorite mk titles: deception, armageddon, shaolin monks, mk11, mk9

favorite (non-MK) games: expedition 33, tomodachi life, injustice, mariokart, outlast trials

and i guess that’s all, for now. nice to meet you :)

Recently I saw a posted complaint about how the Lin Kuei were morally whitewashed in M1K & how some of the formerly villainous characters, like the former Lin Kuei Grandmaster & Empress Sindel, were made less reprehensible in the new timeline...

??? Of course they were??? It's Liu Kang's timeline??? His entire goal was peace and minimal suffering; he did everything in his power to make sure the people who could be better had the opportunity to do so & the ones who were beyond change in any timeline never got the opportunity to cause trouble & then he was extremely distressed when some of those irredeemable people got the opportunity anyway!

Just stumbled upon a post saying that MK12 dying early isn't good because then devs wouldn't make another and...

YES! THAT'S the dream! Let Mortal Kombat rest in peace, as it should've happened when Midway closed (or, in a better world, it would've been bought by a company that actually gives a crap about the world and characters, but alas, we couldn't live farther away from that world.)

MK12 is one of the most misogynistic, shallow pieces of garbage I've ever had the displeasure of seeing in gaming. I can only HOPE it's what kills this zombified franchise.

Girls of Mortal Kombat Deception

as much as i love ashrah from a gameplay/aesthetic standpoint, her story is very… sour

both her original and new era lore is almost an exact mirror:

- defying quan chi

-getting chased out of the netherrealm by her sisters, finding her kriss along the way

-finding out killing with the kriss can cleanse her spirit, and thus dedicates her life to absolving her sins with it

the only instance there is of her showing any empathy is with sareena in the new era, which she’s reserved about (we only find this out in her mk1 ending)

ashrah’s story otherwise is deadass just her being interested in absolving herself. she’s not worried if there’s other demons that feel the same way she does or if they’re as evil as they’re all perceived to be. she just kills them for her own benefit.

also in the original era when the kriss revealed itself to be datusha and was a cursed sword to kill vampires. ashrah still was apathetic and went to massacre vampires.

she’s always seen someone not-human (ermac, reptile in lizard form, baraka) and assumed automatically it’s a demon, therefore attacks it with zero hesitation. that’s why i view ashrah as sort of a racist guided by religious psychosis.
