As I get older, my handwriting resembles yours more. I’ve always loved your handwriting. I refer to you in present tense and I know that it’s not healthy. You’re not here anymore. 

Whenever I look at my hands, I see your hands. We share the same eyes, but you saw life in rose colored glasses and it’s hard for me to not see things in grey. But that’s what made you and I so different, and you so special. 

I drink coffee because every day I made your mug of coffee with the right amount of sugar and milk. You were so moody first thing in the morning. You looked sophisticated and put together. I’m addicted to coffee now.

Once you packed your belongings and left. You drove the 2,700 miles to California, promising you would never return. You wouldn’t return to your roots. That was the anthem of your life; escape, rerouting, forgetting, searching, mapping it all out.

A recently widowed man took this photograph of his daughter playing with her new Christmas presents only to discover that the developed picture clearly shows a spectral figure crawling across the floor. His daughter seems to have noticed the ghost, as she is looking towards it, smiling. He firmly believes that this is the ghost of his dead wife trying to play with their daughter on her first Christmas without her mother.

By removing the scales from this Sunset Moth I have revealed the underlying membrane of its wing where the beautiful iridescent coloring can still be seen.
