blackbeard + his ‘jeff the accountant’ disguise
lucius: something lgbt is happening here
hello Mr. Waititi how did u make ur eyes do that
look, i do honestly love that david jenkins had stede not really understand he was in love with ed until the scene with mary because he’d never been in love before and had no frame of reference, but it does make some of the earlier scenes fucking hilarious.
like, he’s standing in the light of a full moon, whispering to ed that he wears fine things well. ed moves towards him for a second before backing off. they go their seperate ways but turn around to stare at each other for a minute. you can cut the romantic tension with a knife. and meanwhile stede’s thought process is “having a real normal one with my good friend ed :)”
You wear fine things well.

+ thinking about how Ed reacts when anyone but Stede touches him… and how Stede probably tenderly put these little bows in Ed’s beard ;____;

Stede & Ed Moments For the Soul (2/?)
Another little detail about OFMD that makes me go feral: The song the Swede sings in 1x06, immediately after Ed put the dagger away, is called Voi che sapete. It’s a Mozart aria about a young man who experiences love for the very first time and is dazzled by it. Cut to Stede who says “Oh, this is my cue.”
And then, THEN he says: “The siren song has awoken a beast”, meaning the kraken, and if that isn’t fucking brilliant foreshadowing about Ed’s love for Stede being what ultimately leads him to unleash the kraken again.

OUR FLAG MEANS DEATH S01E10: Wherever You Go, There You Are
–Caitlyn Siehl, Start Here
There's something absolutely critical about this scene. It's so clear that this renewed identity as the Kraken is a ferocious little mask for him to wear as a means of deflection- of insurance that he won't be hurt like this again. Never again will someone have the ability to come near his heart- to see him as Edward Teach.
In the barracks, he was so excited for a life without blood, guts, and murder. He was looking forward to just being Ed. Ed and Stede- a new life forged together. This is one of the last shots that we see of Blackbeard, and it reminds us that his heart is still in there. He hasn't lost it, no matter how he tries to throw it away. It's been hurt, stabbed, fractured, and he's trying desperately to keep it wrapped in bandage.
david jenkins looking at the skeleton stabbing the heart on blackbeard's flag and going "that happened because blackbeard had a really bad breakup with his boyfriend" is the best thing to happen to screenwriting in decades
