The Kingdom of San is the furthest out, living in the rocky mountains of Eshatia. It’s home to shapeshifters of all kinds. The conditions are harsher due to them being higher up and so the people can tend to be a bit harsher in their views. They are almost never seen in Sanyangteo, only a couple will arrive once a month to trade and get food for the rest of the pack. Thus many of them aren’t well known by the rest. Though, the newer generation is getting online and trying to make friends outside of their pack. 

San is ruled by an Alpha King and Alpha Queen. Unlike the other kingdoms where if a member killed their king and queen would just fall to the next in line, killing the Alpha King and Alpha Queen is the way to take over the kingdom. If no one challenges them or wins in a challenge then the title of Alpha is passed down to their children. It can make for strained relationships. If you lose a challenge, you are cast out of the kingdom, but your children are allowed to stay. 

𝓢𝓱𝓪𝓹𝓮𝓼𝓱𝓲𝓯𝓽𝓮𝓻𝓼

Shapeshifters come in all different sizes. There are dragon shifters, werewolves, kitsune (fox shifters, or even cheetah shifters. When two shapeshifters fall in love they aren’t bound to their own type. However, their children will take on the shifting ability of whichever parent has the stronger genes. A dragon shifter with a wolf shifter would produce a dragon shifter child. This is only different if the parent with the stronger shifter side is half of what the other parent is as well. Meaning, a dragon shifter who has a dragon and wolf parent mating with a wolf shifter would produce a wolf shifter child - 75% of the DNA going into the child is wolf shifter. 

Shapeshifters were believed to be run by wolf shifters in the beginning. Back when you were only allowed to mate with your shifter type. That has long since changed and due to that the Alpha’s are not restricted to being one shifter type. 

As their name suggests, they have the ability to shapeshift into their designated animal. They also have an increased healing ability. However, shapeshifters are against the smell of vampires and can’t handle silver. Silver will burn them if it comes in contact with them. Something that the humans used to exploit. However, vampires also don’t like silver and so it isn’t typically around in Sanyangteo anymore (only available to the 1%).

Vampires don’t like the taste of shapeshifter blood so they may be the only ones able to be around them for any length of time, however they dislike the smell of vampires and thus the two aren’t known to intermingle. To visit shapeshifters you have to be invited, it is hard to find their homes in the mountains and you would need a guide to get there without getting lost. They aren’t quite as strict as the fae with checking people who come in, but they also don’t typically allow others to visit. 

Shapeshifters can be born as one from their parents or they are able to turn humans and other supernatural creatures (except vampires). It doesn’t always take with another supernatural like it would for a human. It’s an agonizing process to be turned and so it’s not typically something that someone would willingly choose to do.

The fairies live in Namuui Jeongsin, a forest area that allows for them to hide and play within the trees. They aren’t as far out as San, but they typically are not found in town as much as the people of Daeyang may be. They still try to barter with those in the central town for farming goods as they have access to meat but not the land to grow their own supplies. Namuui Jeongsin doesn’t have the best reception or power due to living within the dense woods, but they still make it work with what they have. Many of the newer generation have moved closer to the edge of the forest in order to be able to connect to the outside world. 

𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝓕𝓪𝓮

The fae are extremely attractive to humans. They make it hard for humans to resist their allure, which is a bonus for them when trying to trade. However, they are also extremely attractive to vampires and their blood is considered a delicacy among them. This makes it hard for them to be around vampires and they don’t allow them onto their land, much like the residents of Daeyang. 

They appear as humans, able to show off their wings if they want or hide them behind a glamor. The wings allow them to fly, but only for short distances and they aren’t able to go too high. Fae are still affected by altitude like humans. They are extremely swift on foot though, so it doesn’t stop them from getting around. 

Fairies are very secretive about their own race. You aren’t able to be turned into a fairy, you must be born one. They don’t allow humans to move into their homes or even come and visit without acceptance from the royal family. Visiting involves a background check and humans can’t have been involved with the vampires in their town if they want to visit. This means not joining them at the blood bars or letting one live with you. 

Along with being able to hide and show their wings at will, the glamor that fairies can generate can affect what someone sees in front of them. They can create elaborate sets inside of one's mind, but they aren’t able to hold this as long. The scope of what they are trying to show determines how long they are able to hold the glamor for.

Daeyang - the home of the mermaids. Daeyang is the only kingdom that has a nice entrance to the ocean near Eshatia. The San Kingdom has a cliff edge into the water, but it is unusable to get down. Meaning that Daeyang residents have made a deal with the humans to allow them to use some of their land for ports. Only the humans are allowed onto their land though, vampires are exempt. Daeyang and Namuui Jeongin are the closest of the kingdoms, sometimes building packs together as they believe that they have some distant connection with each other. 

𝓜𝓮𝓻𝓶𝓪𝓲𝓭𝓼

Mermaids are believed to have originated when the goddess Atargatis dove into the ocean to be with her lover, but the gods weren’t willing to let her beauty go to waste and had given her a fish tail. Due to this belief, the King and Queen are believed to be descendants of Atargatis. 

They appear as humans, but are able to shapeshift into serpentine-like creatures with scales and a fin. A mermaid's tail is long and bright, a large, translucent fin with pointy flukes. Faint, diamond-like shapes cover the scales on the sides and backs of their lower bodies. 

Mermaids are able to breathe underwater as well as share their breathing for a short time with someone else (also known as gill-sharing). They have a sort of echolocation that can be used underwater, however they will not be able to use this on land. Mermaids are also swayed by the moon, they have stronger power during a full moon and the opposite can be said when it is a new moon. Their moods can also be connected to the phases of the moon. 

Much of their food outside of seafood has to come from Sanyangteo or Namuui Jeongin, so they usually try to keep some sort of friendliness between the two, however they will always be safest in their Kingdom and are the most mobile of the kingdoms. Meaning they can find a new home easiest. Something that San regularly tries to exploit by attacking their area.

Sanyangteo is the central point within Eshatia, they hold access to the best ground for farming and raising livestock. The place holds humans and vampires alike. It’s unknown if the vampires brought the humans in or if the humans were there first with the vampires following. But what we do know is that they now live in harmony with each other, somehow. 

Anyone from the other kingdoms is allowed into Sanyangteo, even if the humans aren’t allowed within their own territories. It’s were the four kingdoms meet and much of the food and supplies are produced within Sanyangteo or brought in through the ports in Daeyang. 

Unlike the other three, Sanyangteo has two high powers. The humans who are ruled by their king and queen and the vampires ruled by their council. The council consists of 5 vampires who have been around for the longest or are revered as the strongest of their kind. 

These two have a very close connection, so the King and Queen usually work with the Council for decisions to be made within Sanyangteo. But when it comes down to rules and who to follow, each section will follow their specific leaders over the other. 

Sanyangteo is the easiest kingdom to move into if you are trying to leave your own kingdom, but don’t expect it to be sunshine and rainbows with everyone. There will always be some dislike held among people for outsiders. 

𝓥𝓪𝓶𝓹𝓲𝓻𝓮𝓼

Apart from following the councils rules - and the King and Queen’s if they must - vampires are much like normal humans. They have small fangs that elongate when feeding. Vampires are born human or another supernatural  that were turned by their Sire vampire. The origins of vampires are unknown fully and have only been speculated about. No one truly knows where they began. 

Vampires crave blood and human blood is typically all they can eat. Biting a human won't change them though, blood has to be shared from both parties to cause a change. A human wont die from a bite either, only if the vampire drains all their blood, which is how the humans and vampires have been able to coexist for so long. They are able to eat human food, but it doesn't do anything for them other than just make them look normal.

There are blood clubs which allow for willing humans to come and help out the vampires that are in need. These clubs are only open at night as vampires can’t go out into the sun without burning. The older they get the more resistant they are, but even the oldest will still have an issue after a certain amount of time.

Humans are typically considered lesser by many vampires still, even if they need them to sustain their life. However, humans have learned to adapt through the years. There is a smaller percentage of humans who have passed down the knowledge of witchcraft in their families. This is less than 25% of the population, however it’s still enough to keep the vampires in check. 

These witches will work with the king and queen and their offspring to protect their country or take care of the people within their kingdom. Humans have limited access within the other kingdoms which will be explained in the other kingdoms descriptions. For now know that they work most closely with Daeyang due to their need for the ports.

Eshatia is set in a modern world, the region of Eshatia just happens to be run by four different kingdoms. This means that muses have all of the creature comforts awarded by this century (ie: cars, phones, social media, the internet, modern lighting and appliances). This also means that while there is a king and queen of most of the kingdoms, there is still power held by the people so they have to be careful of not upsetting the balance.

Namuui Jeongsin which is the forest homes of the fae. And finally Sanyangteo which prides itself on being the only neutral place, home to vampires and humans alike and perfect for farming. Sanyangteo is used most often for any meetings between the kingdoms, only making it easier being in the middle of the others.

But not all is as it seems and the kingdoms are regularly fighting amongst themselves. All except Sanyangteo, who only protects it’s people and borders, but doesn’t get involved in petty squabbles. Will you stay with your kind or will you make a new home for yourself with another?
