We already know what Seungcheol is like: he gets shy and his ears are red, and that makes Jeonghan make fun of him. Although Seungcheol wants to scream inside because the girl he likes hugged him and left him smelling like her. It's a somewhat out-of-the-ordinary suggestion, but tell me what you think. Every step towards you feels like a step towards his end, and it must show on his face because Jeonghanβwhoβs seated beside you as Joshua talks your ear offβis giving him a weird look. In his defense, you look good, too good. You always do, but something about seeing you in red, glowing with happiness as you celebrate your special day with friends just had Seungcheol wanting to kiss the ground you walked on.
He canβt screw this up.
He hopes you like the gift. Youβve always been the type to wear bracelets, and Seungcheol canβt count the number of times heβs fantasized about gifting you one of them for your anniversary like a good boyfriend, and thisβ¦ This is a step closer to that! The only difference is that he isnβt your boyfriend, and it isnβt your anniversary, but baby steps, is what Seungcheol tells himself.
A bracelet for now and your engagement ring tomorrow, who knows?
(Jeonghan would call him delusional if the man heard his thoughts, really.)
βCheol, hi!β You pull away from the conversation with Joshua and wave at him with a smile, and Seungcheol can feel his treacherous heart do cartwheels at the sight of it. βHave you eaten?β
βI have. The foodβs great,β Seungcheol says. βJust wanted to give my gift in person.β
He holds the gift out to you, a box wrapped in a soft pink paper with a white bow tied around it. Itβs cute, itβs pretty, not as pretty as you, but he hopes itβll be enough to match you.
βWhat a tiny gift, Cheol,β Jeonghan teases like he didnβt help Seungcheol shop for it. βPut in some effort like the rest of us.β
βYah,β Seungchol says. βBigger isnβt always better.β
βSure,β Joshua shrugs, and Jeonghan is quick to snort. You only roll your eyes and laugh at twoβs antics, already used to the instigation and bickering that comes with their presence.
βCut it out,β You scold, and Seungcheol has to resist the urge to propose then and there. βCan I open it, Cheol?β
Seungcheol grins. Thatβs exactly what he was waiting for. βOf course.β
The three men watch as you untie the bow and open the wrapping, careful to not rip anything. The first sight of green reaches your eyes, and before you can even see the entire thing, youβre already looking at Seungcheol in disbelief.
βCheol, you did not,β You say as you set the box onto the table. βCheol, no.β
βWhat?β Seungcheol plays dumb, but he canβt fight the grin that makes its way onto his face when he sees traces of excitement mixed in with the shock in your eyes. βOpen it.β
You remove the rest of the pink wrapper to reveal the sage green box that complements the red of your dress, and without wasting any time, youβre opening it.
βOh my god,β is the only thing that leaves your mouth when you pull out the bracelet: a pretty gold chain with five diamond-studded motifs that cost Seungcheol an even prettier penny to obtain.
The next thing Seungcheol knows, youβve gotten out of your seat and jumped into his arms, giving him a tight hug that has all the wirings of his brains tangling and short-circuiting as he steadies your excited form.
He doesn't miss the way Jeonghan and Joshua pull their phones out to snap a picture. These bastards.

βYou like it?β Seungcheol asks, still happily trapped in your hug as he rubs your back up and down with affection. Heβs surprised at how coherent his words are considering the intoxicating haze heβs breathing in: a sweet floral mix blending with your natural scent.
βI do, Cheol,β You reply, arms tightening around his neck, and Seungcheol feels like heβs going to melt then and there. βI donβt think I can accept this.β
βYou can,β Seungcheol says as you pull away, and he canβt help but mourn the loss of your warmth. βHere, let me put it on for you.β
Seungcheol is careful to take the bracelet and clasp it around your wrist, a smile making its way onto his face as he watches his gift mix in with the rest of your stack. Perfect, he thinks, that bracelet is right where it belongs.
(He canβt wait to add more to it.)
βThank you, Cheol,β You smile, and Seungcheol isnβt even given a second to recover from your smile before your fingers hold his jaw and your lips press against his cheek.
Oh.
Oh fuck.
Seungcheol can only stand there stupidly, grin dopey as he traces his cheek. He watches as you walk away and talk to your other friends, showing off the little bracelet he got you with an excited grin.
βCongrats, bro,β Joshua laughs as Jeonghan continues to snap pictures of Seungcheol looking like the perfect picture of a fool in love.
