And Gideon forces Lyctorhood on Harrow. Why does she do this? Well, there are a few reasons. But one of them is that Gideon wants there to be someone in the world who remembers her and cares about her forever. In other words - by throwing herself on that spike, she kills Harrow in order to gain immortality.
