Coffee dreams

I’d love to create illustrations for packaging one day - so I created a project of my own, just for funs. La Montaña is a fictional brand selling single origin coffees, in this case from Mexico, Costa Rica and Colombia. 

Might add more countries later on, but now I think I’ll move onto my other favourite, chocolate packaging!

About inspiration

Very often when I start working on a personal illustration, I hit a wall straight away. When you have the option to draw absolutely anything you want, how on earth can you ever manage to pick anything?!   

Creativehowl runs a great ongoing project on their website, where different artists talk about the inspiration behind their artwork. I find it super interesting to hear where other people find theirs from, and it really does seem like inspiration can come from absolutely anywhere. I wrote a little piece about my Arizona Coyote too, you can read that and all the other stories here. And hopefully the stories might help anyone who is struggling with finding inspiration to come up with new ideas and fresh ways of looking at things!

Morning Coffee

Wow it’s been a long time! Trying to keep my tumblr a bit more updated from now on..

The spring is here but even though it’s a bit warmer now, Glasgow mainly remains wet and cloudy and windy. I dream that one day I will have a sweet little balcony, full of plants, where I will be able to enjoy my morning coffee in the sunshine!

Flamenco & Blues

Been a while since I made these prints, but just wanted to explain the reason for picking flamenco and blues! Very different styles of music from different parts of the world, but there are similarities in their roots; music of the outcasts, Spanish Gypsies and African Americans in deep south, both emotional, deep, powerful and sad music. More on the subject here.

Lisboa

I visited Lisbon last year for the first time, and while I enjoyed the whole city, I fell totally in love with the area of Alfama. It is the oldest part of town, an ancient Arab district. With its maze of narrow streets and alleyways, steep steps and colourfully tiled houses it is full of charm and the perfect place to go and get lost - and so inspiring to draw!
