i have understood so many things about online leftist culture by the fact that when i said "your local community has people you will morally and politically disagree with but you cannot lock them out of accessing any tangible service you’re organising" one of the tags responding said "this isn’t about proshippers in here you’re not welcome" like. folks. focus with me. some of us are homeless here.
There's a disconnect happening here because the primary function of social media for most casual users is to form a circle of friends around the usual things that friendships are built on: shared interests and lifestyles and ideas of what is important and what is unacceptable. When people are mainly doing leftism on social media, this encourages thinking of leftism as centered around establishing high-minded social clubs.
For anyone who still isn't getting it from someone who helps people IRL: There's a difference between whom you're helping to feed at the mealshare and whom you're choosing to hang out with for fun after the mealshare. You don't have to invite a hungry person with opinions you don't like to play board games with you, but you do have to help keep them from starving if you're serious about leftist organizing.

The library (aka me and a quarter time person) are making the AI department sad and frustrated because we aren't coming up with a good project for a "tool to relieve some of the day-to-day burden of our work" and yeah man.
Like, 80% of my work is physical materials, 10% is research that I actually enjoy most of the time and would need to double check all the ai results, and like 10% the most basic email and data entry.
"but we want you to use it!" but it can't do anything I need help with and everything it """can""" do would add extra work
Can it move boxes? Can it deal with the 14,000 boxes of backlog in the warehouse? Can it research in the microfilm collection? Can it shelve this stuff in the library stacks? Can it take even one of the “hey can you deal with all these files in this office/closet/cabinet” I get? What about shipping materials from regional offices? Can it reformat any of these media types? No? Ok well those are the areas that I need assistance. I already have templates created for the emails and data stuff

Tldr Amnesty International, global human rights organisation, published a report called 'A growing threat: the anti-rights movement in the UK'. In it is detailed, amongst others, a whole bunch of transphobic groups and organisations, including Beira's Place, JK Rowling's trans exclusionary sexual violence support service. JK Rowling threw a shit fit and got Amnesty to take the report down by threatening libel. This was obviously not enough, because you can't appease a fascist, so now she's going to bankroll a bunch of lawsuits anyway through the JK Rowling Women's Fund.*

Recently when I've been thinking of the handsome Dragon Guy (aka Dragon Goon, Long, Ryuu, or Dagon/Ryuusuke on here), I've been picturing Tatsu from "The Way of the Househusband";
Ex-Yakuza adapting to a normal life outside of crime.
+in the Live Action adaption of "Way of the Househusband", Tatsu has a stepdaughter named Himawari. Now I'm imagining Dragon Guy rolling up to his first day in the Phoenix Program with a tiny daughter.
*push Robert is the his wife who's trans and was left pregnant and meets the dragon Guy while getting groceries and crying because of hormones and Dragon Guy immediately helped him centre stage and slowly move back in the shadow*
Robert just having a giant scary dragon ex-yakuza husband, and a baby on the way.
Dragon Guy ("Ryuusuke", literally "dragon herald"), ended indebted to Shroud for expensive quality-of-life improving augments. He didn't want his innocent non-powered spouse in the line of fire, so he left him an emotional farewell and disappeared into the criminal underworld under the codename "Dagon".
Ryuusuke hadn't realised two things;
Robert knew a lot more about the Red Ring than he let on.
There's a mini-dragon on the way.
Robert and Ryuusuke's paths only cross again after Robert's coma. The draconic villain wasn't allowed into Mecha Man's room, even with evidence of their connection.
Cue they're awkward, emotional reunion at the grocery store.
They need to have a long talk about their respective secret lives.
Beef brings them back together when he gets kidnapped by Shroud and Ryuusuke tackles him while grabbing the pup.
Extremely adorable if they met through Beef - the chunky puppy pulled a "101 Dalmatians" on his owner by entangling him with a handsome newcomer.
Ryuusuke may be a cat-person (the pendant on his chest is a lucky cat coin), but that dog is precious to him.
Shroud doesn't account for one of his own men turning the tides and striking when he takes Beef hostage. The ex-yakuza was finally fed up with Shroud threatening his family, and exploiting those he augmented like himself and Invisigal.
It quickly turns the tides of the attack.
Robert formally introduces the Z-Team to his scary af husband - they wolf-whistle with approval (and whisper "How?").
Punch Up: "Didn't you bite that guy's finger off?" Ryuusuke: "It's cool. It grows back." Robert: "We were in a bit of rough spot. You know with opposing secret identities and all." Prism: "A bit?!"
Blazer helps them afterwards organise getting Ryuusuke pardoned, or failing that - induct him into the Phoenix Program.

Papa Shroud thinks anyone less than Blonde Blazer herself is not worthy of his son. Ryuusuke is "just" some ex-yakuza punk who's only in America due to exile. It would be easy to prey on the draconic man's health and financial concerns to draw him into the Red Ring's web...
Dagon follows orders like an obedient soldier. It makes him priceless as an enforcer.
The other members of the Red Ring consider "Dagon" with a form of quiet respect and interest. The ex of Mecha Man? What happened there? Oh Mecha Man's having a kid - what the hell!? WAIT...
Ryuusuke himself was unaware of the pregnancy until he and Robert reunited. Things would have gone differently had he'd known. Shroud knew that, so he struck quickly.
When informants come back saying that Mecha Man and Dagon have been seen talking while in their civilian lives, Shroud prepares himself for betrayal.
The fight at the Sardine is violent enough that the mastermind's expectations are shaken.
(Robert wanted answers, Ryuusuke wanted him out of the crossfire, fingers got bitten off, etc.)
Was the ex-yakuza unaware of his partner's connection to Mecha Man? Or was his loyalty to his elders so ingrained that he hardly questioned defending his new clan? This may require more investigation...
The baby is also a new variable to Shroud's plans. He counted on Robert not being so careless as to target the Red Ring while expecting - he thought wrong. A scorned spouse is a dangerous force.
Especially one carrying a hardy dragon pup that gives them literal heartburn.
Grandpa Shroud moment of adoring his granddaughter, but still glaring at his son-in-law like a disapproving parent would.
