to be clear, I believe younger artists and minors can write good fics (not to say “fanfic must always be good” either because it is a hobby and I still believe that as long as it’s done with love and the artist’s joy, it is good) and I believe it’s good when younger artists and minors start making art at young ages.

that said, a lot of fanfics out there that you read and love are done by adults with kids, jobs and responsibilities. adults who have years, decades of practice under their belts. adults who don’t let life and responsibilities take away their joy in creating.

someone’s love and passion don’t suddenly go away the second they reach a certain age. so if anything, I feel sorry for people who say “adults shouldn’t write fanfics or make fan art” because what these people really say is that they expect themselves to stop having fun and finding comfort in things that bring them joy and comfort the second they reach a certain age. it’s sad that they put an expiration date on their own fun and source of comfort.

Like you didn't know it was aave, but at the same time, something in you said it had to be funny. Because it really isn't different from "seize him" or "get him." But unconsciously or not, you guys recognized this is how a lot of members of the Black Diaspora speak, and Black speech is inherently funny to yall. There has to be a word for this phenomenon, right?

It's funny you say that, because "I don't get forced" when you're literally trying to upkeep a sunken cost fallacy of your own Ego.

This could have been over with you realising that "Hey, maybe I do actually use language that has credible and undeniable history of being stolen from marginalized groups and used to further the systems that oppress them, I should reconsider it." You could have went out of this a better, more compassionate person.

This could have actually been over with just one person acknowledging that they don’t own English. Or, for that matter, the very human tendency to mimic. That’s not stealing, that’s a thing humans do because they like it. Has aave been used historically to ridicule black people? Yeah. Absolutely, it has. But this is (about to be) 2025. Yes, there’s still a lot to be done in the way of fixing racism but in this day and age just about anything can be used by anyone. And most of the time these days—these days—the “stealing” of an aspect of someone’s culture is often just someone showing interest in and immersing themselves in it because they like it. It isn’t fair to oppose separatism and then promote it in the same breath.

Well for starters

It's clear that you think it's a very small amount of people bullying specifically you, for reason of "just because we're school bullies", you do not believe in the fact you're doing anything wrong. And in your follow up, even say that if the 'uppity blacks' stopped having an issue with this non issue it would be over.

As if it's one person and not the entire black fandom folk, which you constantly ostracize by being being this fucking dumb all the time.

You don't even think racism exists anymore, but at least clearly know that if you said that out loud you would be ousted as an idiot faster, or well, faster than you already did rn.

There is a stark difference between being fascinated by a culture and stealing culture because it "looks/sounds" cool, perpetrating it as casual and hip and anti-establishment, so then the members of said culture will have a trouble finding jobs, housing, and will face increased societal harassment because their culture is seen as inappropriate, disruptive and lower class.

But you are of course an Idiot, so you think doing that is ok because a. White and black people can marry now, and b. Could not imagine a more complex thought if your life depended on it.
