1.2.-24.2.2019 Hinni Huttunen Homage for women’s work in three acts (4 hours, 30 minutes and 4 hours)

Forum Box: Mediabox According to a survey carried out by Statistics Finland in 2018, the most common profession for women in Finland in 2016 was in the industry of human health and social work activities. The average duration for a workday for a person working within this industry is 8 hours with a separate break. The video performance Homage for women’s work in three acts (4 hours, 30 minutes and 4 hours) by Hinni Huttunen is an act of homage for these women working in the human health and social work activities and to her grandmother who worked as a deaconess and a nurse. Hinni Huttunen (b. 1990) is a contemporary artist working with video and photography. In her artistic practice she feels passionate about portraiture, internet, controlled glitter and smashing bodily norms. Self-portrait with Carnations 2018 gif-animation, carnations, string, balloons, helium Image from the exhibition MARK MY WORDS at Not Quite, Fengersfors, Sweden. MARK MY WORDS was a group show by the artist group Mam! as well as a platform for dialogue about the conditions, space and political climate for artists. Mam! invited ten artists from around northern Europe to participate in the show at Not Quite in Fengersfors. Along with the exhibition, a publication with contributions by all the artists was released. 

The exhibition was curated by Funny Livdotter.

The screening, curated by the Young Artist of the Year 2018, J. A. Juvani, preent the politics of body, sex, sexuality, and gender. According to Queer Bodies (2011) by Heather Sykes, “queer bodies” include all that are excluded from the norm, such as the overweight body. In the screening, Aurora Reinhard’s interview documentary Boygirl (2002) is followed by recent works of a new generation of artists: Hinni Huttunen, Artor Jesus Inkerö, Camille Auer, and Kristoffer Ala-Ketola. The screening is associated with the forthcoming educational material on queer thematics produced by AV-arkki and Seta and curated by J. A. Juvani. R&A TALKS: Queer Bodies  Torstaina 27.9. at 17-18 Bio Rexin lämpiön lavalla

Co-hosted with  AV-Arkki – the Centre for Finnish Media Art ja The Family Federation of Finland we dive into representations of gender. On stage artists J.A. Juvani, Hinni Huttunen, Artor Jesus Inkerö, the Family Federation of Finland’s Jaana Tiiri and transactivist Sakris Kupila. The discussion will be moderated by Marjo Pipinen.

Laura Laukkanen: Kiven rooli B-galleria 25.7.–6.8.2017 Tervetuloa!

Kiven rooli

Uskon, että monet meistä ovat kuulleet humoristisen tarinan, jossa kertoja on roolitettu kiven osaan koulunäytelmässä. Arvaan, että monikaan meistä ei ole esittänyt kiveä saati ymmärtänyt kiven roolia.

Käytämme luontevasti ja huomaamattomasti kiviä apuvälineinä. Kivi sopii uskomattoman hyvin käteen. Se on kätevyytemme perusta ihmislajina. B-gallerian kokonaisuudessa käytän kiveä sosiaalisena työkaluna. Kivi on työkalu, jolla toteutan erilaisia ystävällisyyden ja kohteliaisuuden eleitä.

Kiven rooli on videoperformansseista koostuva installaatio. Teos kuuluu kohteliaisuutta ja ystävyyttä käsittelevään näyttelysarjaan, jonka ensimmäinen osa oli esillä Galleria Lapinlahdessa toukokuussa 2017.

Kiven rooli -näyttely perustuu kesäkuussa 2017 Eckerön Posti- ja Tullitalon residenssissä tuotettuun ja ideoituun materiaaliin. Näyttelyä on tukenut Taiteen edistämiskeskus.

Laura Laukkanen (s.1984) on tamperelainen kuvataiteilija. Hän on valmistunut Tampereen ammattikorkeakoulusta kuvataiteilijaksi vuonna 2013. Laukkanen työskentelee pääasiallisesti installaation keinoin.  Hän käsittelee teoksissa arkisia itsestäänselvyyksiä ja käyttää materiaaleina tavanomaisuudessaan näkymättömiksi muuttuneita esineitä, ilmiöitä ja eleitä. Laukkanen on jäsen Tehonrakentajat-kollektiivissa ja Tampereen Taidehalli -työhuoneyhteisössä.
