I was in inpatient treatment for an eating disorder for 4 months, then another 6, 3 months later, we were underaged, so we weren't allowed to leave without parent permission. Lots of begging crying over the phone.
Nobody there wanted to be there,
Every single one of them would have died or given them self permanent disabilities if they had that right.
Bradychardia, seizures, self harm, forced medication.
Many times people would get bad enough that they needed food forced on them, so they were given n-g-tubes. Nasal g tubes. Up your nose, down your throat, all the way down. I had one about 4 times, you were expected to eat while it was in and running, so you were more than constantly full, with constant nausea. i saw a lot of people throw up the other end of the tube because of that, or pull it out their nose themselves.
I'm not saying that's ok. I'm not saying they can force that on somebody.
But there are people who NEED it.
They did it wrong there, but it needed to be done. Done right. A REAL g-tube would have been better in a lot of cases. A surgical one, or it needed to be run at night, less, or for longer. Or all 3 most of the time.
Inpatient gave me emetephobia, but I also watched people pass out, seize at the table, and the occasional ambulance outside, saw through their leg with a butter knife to self harm in front of over 25 people triggered by it, suicide attempts.
I don't fuck around with this. They needed the help and they didn't want it. They still needed it
