Fear.

I'm scared. Never for one minute think that I'm not. I spend my time avoiding everything that I could possibly fail at. Everything that could hurt me. Everything. And that doesn't make me any less terrified. I'm afraid to fail. To lose. To be less than what people want me to be.

I want to be that person. The unafraid. The outgoing. Everything that I pretend to be. But in reality I'm fake. Just another mask I wear to keep others from seeing just how unlike me I am.

I'm a liar. I've lied about many things. About myself mostly. And if I could take it all back? I don't know if I could. Because then everyone would see just how much of a liar I am. I couldn't handle that. I have a hard enough time being honest to myself, let alone any one else.

So. Forgive me. I'm not perfect. Not by any means. I'm not trying to be hurtful. I'm just trying to prevent pain. Because I am a coward. And I am afraid.
