Compass was definitely more than precious to them. If he had to take a guess, it was likely their most treasured item with how they regarded it in that moment. Jude had that exact same expression, that exact same look when he was going over his necklace that she gave him. Something in the physical world he cared so much about and it wasnt a book of all things for once.
This kid or… were they a kid? It was immediately giving Jude the ‘I need to help them and make sure they are okay’ vibes. He just had a real soft spot for helping people in need… That do-gooder attitude of his. “Y-You dont have to bow..! I’m sorry too.” he was also partly at fault, but now that the apologies had been given on both ends, they could move forward from that point.
But the more Jude watched this kid, the more he could notice things… They carried a lot of mana, at least it felt like mana… There was no way they were a spirit however. They couldnt be since they were far too human for that. Though he still wondered where that fear came from, and why the younger had to feel like that for even a moment… Jude never wished that feeling on anyone.
“Laphicet?” an unusual name. “It’s nice to meet you.” hopefully things would go more smoothly from here on out. However, it was sad to hear that they got seperated from their friends. If luck would have it, some of them were older and they looked after him well! “Your friends..? When was the last time you saw them? Do you remember? I can help you until then? I wouldnt want to leave you all on your own out here.” mana or not, they were just too young, and they needed help!
The compass was very important. An essential item that had brought him close to those he’d found. In fact, it was part of who he’d become. What had led him to become who he was after.. Stealing it from Velvet, but he did give it back! Although, part of him wished he had kept it since she’d accidentally thrown it off the boat.
Laphicet cocked his head at the other’s insistence but said nothing. Did people bowed when they said sorry? Or was that a thing of books? Written in times long past perhaps, or of a recent writer who wished to change the world with clever words. If making an Orchard didn’t work, perhaps a writer would suit Laphicet far more?
He nodded in confirmation, though didn’t seem to notice the odd clothing Jude wore. People wore weird clothing all the time.. His fashion sense was likely different from everyone else. Not that those he traveled with had the best sense of fashion. Laphicet knew little of the concept anyway.
“L - last time I saw them.. Um..” He held the compass close, the cool gold material pressed under his bottom lip as a means of grounding. Olive’s glanced around, frowning slightly as he tried to think. “We got separated in town when the Abbey showed up.. I - I don’t know if they’re waiting at the boat.”
