[HP AU] Start of a New Year || Open
Matai stared at his reflection in the mirror like he hadnāt seen it in centuries.
Everything about his face was correct. Purple hair - a little messy since he always forgot to cut it regularly, green eyes that were the envy of his family, and pale skin untouched by the outer elements. Everything was in order, nothing out of place. But for some reason, his own reflection gave him a sense of nostalgia and discomfort, like he wasnāt used to looking like this. He sighed, running a hand through his head and grunting as he draped the Slytherin robes over his shoulders.
Maybe he had eaten something bad on the train.
He adjusted his tie again and yawned, hoping that the first years wouldnāt be too troublesome. Matai had ended up becoming prefect a couple years ago for some reason, and he still didnāt know why he was chosen to be a glorified babysitter. Sure, he enjoyed the benefits, but dealing with the first week of school was a pain. The first years had problems, mostly separation anxiety and ending up lost, and Matai didnāt have time to take care of them. He had studying to do.
Which meant when he was practically charging out of the Slytherin dormitory to find somewhere to practice spells from his Defense Against the Dark Arts class, he wasnāt expecting to run straight into someone. He stopped, realizing that he had knocked someone over, right outside the Slytherin entrance. He paused, wondering if it was worth it to just keep going.
Keep his title of prefect, or get a leg up on job opportunities?
āShitā¦ā Matai whispered under his breath as he turned around to see how the kid was doing,Ā āAre you alright? Look where youāre going next time.ā
Another year, another time spent trying to memorized this damned school again. Other slytherin students were usually pretty good about keeping her pointed in the right direction, but it didnāt change the fact that sometimes Sharron just really hated going there.
Hogwarts was not the place for blind students, but thanks to her father being a professor here, she didnāt have much of a choice in the matter. Sharron was trying to find her way back to the dormitories when all the sudden someone just completely body-checked her.Ā
She hit the ground and groaned, rubbing her tail bone. She recognized the voice as the prefect,Ā āOh you know. Iām fine. Just bruised my hip is all. And you know... I would look where Iām going if it wasnāt for one crucial issue.āĀ
Sharron waved her hand in front of her face to demonstrate her lack of sight and held out her hand,Ā āCould you help me to my feet?ā
