Hunt Holiday Party 2020
Sisterly Bonding| Odette & Violet
Odette was so excited to finally have the time to catch up with her younger sister. So excited in fact that she may have⊠overdone the preparations. But catching up required tea and all of Violetâs favorite snacks. Plus a vase with all her favorite flowers. Not to mention a basket of snacks for her to take home. Okay, she had missed her sister a lot! But this was a perfectly normal level of preparation and she was sticking to it. As she sets out the last of the snacks, she can be found humming a song under her breath, truly a sign she wasnât even trying to contain her excitement. She had so much she needed to ask her sister, especially the latest news about the doctor she was dating! She never expected sweet little Violet to fall for a man like him⊠but she trusted her sisterâs judgement. That wasnât going to save him from future interrogations and threats, however! She had a duty to uphold as the middle sister, and she was going to do it.Â
As she is lost in thoughts and preparation, it would be entirely possible for her younger sister to catch her off guard if she chooses now to enter. For now, Odette truly is living in her own head, barely even noticing that she had filled just about every inch of the table between the pot of tea, the snacks, and the nice tableware.Â
Violet smiled on her way to Odetteâs place, always happy to catch up with one of her older sisters. While Violetâs cooking paled in comparison to Odetteâs, she did try to bring some snacks for the two of them to enjoy - some cookies she decided to make - and some lilies that she grew on her windowsill. Sure, Odette probably was preparing a lot, but it didnât feel right for Violet to come empty-handed.
Finally, Violet reached the front door and knocked, a bright smile on her face.
âOdette...?â Violet called out, âI-Itâs me, Violet...â

Warm Thoughts in Cold Weather || [[Ford/Violet]]
The ghost of a smile crossed Fordâs lips, watching her eyes light up again. It wasnât quite as intense as the underground, it was good to see that same spark return to her. And now that they werenât underground, hopefully it wouldnât go out quite as quickly. âWhy donât we do a simple walk-through first? We have to come back this way later. Made a note of anything you might want to see later. And once youâve decided what you want to see first, we can go there. How does that sound?â
Walking down the boardwalk, Ford kept close to Violet, practically shoulder to shoulder. He spared a good many glances down towards Violet, but also kept an eye out, checking to see if there was anything that might seem interesting to her. As he scanned between booths and businesses, his nearly skimmed over an oddly shaped booth, that seemed to be down a somewhat shadier path.Â
âHm?â He paused, trying to get a better look. âWhat do you think that is, over there?â
As they walked down the path, Violet looked around with wonder in her eye, taking everything in. Of course...though her attention was mainly on the sights of the boardwalk, she was a bit distracted by how close Ford was. It was a very nice kind of distracted, though. And Violet only hoped that her blush was masked by the chill of the winter sea breeze. Goodness...he was so close...
When he paused, however, Violet stopped, looking curiously over at the strange booth. She tilted her head, curious herself.Â
âI-I donât know...â Violet spoke, âL-Letâs see...â She began walking towards the strange booth with Ford at her side, getting a good look at it. And what greeted them was a sort of...fortune telling machine. Strange...Violet would have never expected something like this on Leuda. There were fortune telling booths on Arcadia, but a fortune telling machine on Leuda? It seemed strange.

As Candace peeked between the leaves, from the dim light of the street lamps, she could make out a young woman, sharing both a similar height and timid demeanor with the seamstress herself. When she spoke, the stranger flinched and shrunk away from herâand she couldnât blame her. Being out here in this, alone, was bound to put people on edge.
âIâm sorry,â she spoke softly. âI didnât mean to startle you⊠But if it helps you feel better⊠Um, I didnât check either. I just had an umbrella on handâŠâ
She shifted in her waterlogged shoes and brought her umbrella closer to the tree. It wasnât a big thing, as it didnât really need to be, but it probably had enough room to cover twoâŠÂ
âIâm walking home.â Candace offered a little smile. â⊠Will you walk with me?â
âR-Really?â Violet looked surprised, blinking a moment and smiling very appreciatively, âI-I would r-really appreciate it...â She could at least get closer to home under the umbrella, rather than being stuck so far away. Or if she happened to pass by where Violet lived, then Violet could even get home this way! Violet timidly walked towards the woman until she was underneath the umbrella. While they would need to stand close together, it was enough to cover them both. âT-Thank you very much...â Violet spoke, smiling again, âU-Um...I-Iâm Violet. W-Whatâs your name...?â

Best Kept Secrets [Lily & Violet]
The last thing Lily wanted was to worry her baby sister, but there were just some things she really didnât need Violet to know. She took a breath in, held it a few seconds, and then exhaled. A more genuine smile now rested on her face.
âNo, youâre fine, Violet. Itâs just been really busy these past few days. I guess Iâm just a little on edge.â
She chuckled softly.

âO-Oh...o-okay...â For some reason, Violet felt like that wasnât the entire truth. But with the way that Lily was smiling, Violet had no reason to push any further. Maybe it was just some rude customers at the inn? Violet knew that sometimes people like that came in...
âW-Well...d-do you h-have time for a visit...?â she timidly asked, âI-I know I came suddenly, b-but...â

Rain bombarded the path as another boom of thunder cracked overhead. The sound of the water pounding on her umbrella muted nearly everything else as she looked down at her shoes, which were only barely managing to keep her socks from taking on water.
Candace sighed softly. As much as she loved the rain, being in it was less enjoyable. Especially when she hadnât checked the forecast that day and had left her raincoat at homeâŠ
She was on her trudging commute home that evening, and the world was bleary and darkâsave for a little figure of color up ahead. Someone was beneath a tree, seemingly taking shelter from the rainâŠ
The seamstress approached the tree slowly, doing her best to step around the deepest puddles. â⊠Hello,â she greeted softly to the person, barely audible over the rain. The leaves shielded them from both the raindrops and her gaze. âDo you⊠not have an umbrellaâŠ?â
Of all the days to not check the weather...
Violet shivered, standing beneath a tree as rain poured down all around her. It was her one day off that week, and she had the luck to spend a portion of it taking shelter from the rain. And, of course, she had just left the library, and she couldnât just walk home in the rain and potentially ruin any of the books...
She looked up at the sky as thunder cracked, wondering just how long it would last. Would it be a long storm...or would it pass through?Â
â...Hello.â
Violet jumped, not expecting to hear a voice at all. She looked down, taking a slight step back out of her own nerves. But thankfully...it was just another woman, holding an umbrella.
âN...N-No...â Violet admitted, trying to calm herself down, âI-I forgot to check the weather...â It was pretty embarrassing to admit it.

Best Kept Secrets [Lily & Violet]
Lily made her way up the stairs, eyes down on her mail, barely paying any attention to the world around herâŠuntil she nearly walked into someone.
âOh my! Iâm so sorr-â
Her voice trailed off. She hadnât expected Violet of all people today. What awful timing! She was the one Lily wanted to know the least about all this.
Still, she forced a perhaps obviously fake smile. She was happy to see Violet. She always was. But today of all daysâŠ
âWhat a pleasant surprise, Violet. You should have told me you were coming.â
Violet jumped in surprise, turning her head to see her sister.
âO-Oh! H-Hello, Lily!â Violet smiled as she tried to calm herself down from the shock, âU-Um...I-Iâm sorry for coming so s-suddenly...I-I just wanted to see how you were...â Something told Violet that Lily wasnât feeling well. Lily was smiling...but the smile didnât look...real. Violet wasnât going to press her...but it did make her worry.

Warm Thoughts in Cold Weather || [[Ford/Violet]]
âExcellent.â Ford stepped forward, holding the door open for Violet, before heading inside himself.
Lunch was actually quite pleasant. The food was good, and he and Violet were able to maintain an enjoyable conversation throughout the meal. He would have no complaints about going back there again some time. He had to check if they would do takeout. At the very least, he found a new place to visit from time to time.Â
âJust a little further now,â Ford said, as they neared the boardwalk. He pointed ahead, to where some lights could be seen. âThere are some shops and attractions there. If anything catches your interest, let me know. We still have a good number of hours left in the day. I think that if we leave an hour or so after sunset, it should be dark enough to go view the lights.â
After lunch, Violet was feeling completely like herself again. The lingering effects of being down in the underground city were gone, and though she was still disappointed that she wouldnât be able to see the city for much longer, she could only look forward to what else the day had in store, and what else they could see together.
Such as the boardwalk.
She perked up, looking ahead with keen interest. And soon after Ford spoke, they were stepping onto the boardwalk itself. Violet looked around, obvious curiosity in her eyes.
âW-Wow...â Violet spoke, looking around, âI-Iâm...not sure w-where to start...â Even in the dead of winter, the boardwalk was still pretty busy with people taking in the sights or getting ready to watch the lights later that evening.Â
[ Beach Day - Violet Brunel ]
Violet smiled on the way to Leuda, happy to spend a day at the beach this year. She brought a book to read as well as some snacks to enjoy (and to share with Ford). Since she didnât intend to swim too much during the day, she came prepared with a nice cover-up dress to wear when she wasnât in the water.Â

âPerhaps⊠Although, I donât see why that would affect it. Unless spirits donât live below ground?â To be honest, despite all his research, Ford typically struggled when it came to learning about spirits and magic. He had no idea how any of it worked- so frustratingly, he wouldnât be able to provide Violet with any answers when it came to her spiritual sensitivity.Â
ââŠWell, as long as youâre not getting a headache every time you visit Leuda, Iâm more than willing to work around whatever problems arise. For now, letâs pass on any dates that involve going underground.â
Ford paused, turning to stare at a nearby restaurant. âI know you said that you would be good to walk to the boardwalk, but how about stopping here? This place typically has good reviews, and Iâve ordered delivery once or twice, to satisfactory results.â
âY-Yes...â Violet sighed, âM-Maybe one day we can go back down there. I-Iâd like to walk around one day...i-if I can handle it.â After all, she really did love looking around. Actually being down there was nothing like the pictures or the stories of what it was like. It was just so interesting to her.Â
Maybe she could try looking into it herself...or get more used to the spirit climate of Leuda...
Violet was surprised when he stopped, and then she looked over at the restaurant, âO-Oh...o-okay! I-If you like it, then I-Iâd like to go...â She smiled at him. She was feeling back to normal, at this point. She didnât doubt that they couldnât make it to the boardwalk after lunch.

Violet had never seen so much money in her entire life. She stared at the amount she would receive with wide eyes. What exactly was she supposed to do with so much money? This...would almost set her for life! Or would it? It would set her for many years, at least.
Goodness...she wasnât sure what to do with all of this...

Best Kept Secrets [Lily & Violet]
@thenervousnurseâ
Lily wasnât the type to hold grudges, nor was she really even the type to get angry. But there was one person she reserved those feelings for without remorse: her own father.Â
The man had left her and her sisters shortly before their mother died, and certainly wasnât around after. Theyâd had to live in an orphanage and lose the family inn, something Lily was still trying to pay back. All she would get were the occasional letters for her family. She read them, both hers and her sisters, but never let anyone see. The letters were promptly burned afterwards in the fireplace.Â
She sighed softly as she found today was yet another âmail dayâ. There were the usual letters, such as bills, but then there were also the ones signed by her father.
âHere we go again,â she muttered softly.Â
Better read these before her sisters made any impromptu visits.
While Violet lived away from her sisters (and greatly preferred the independence she had on her own), she did occasionally drop by to visit either Lily or Odette on a usual basis, just as Lily or Odette would do that same to her. Today was one of those days. Violet was already walking near the inn, and so she naturally decided to walk in to see how her eldest sister was doing. After all, it had been a while since Lily had dropped in. And though Violet tried to write between visits to at least keep the sisters updated (as she didnât own a cell phone), it was always nice to see her sisters in person.
Violet walked up to the inn room that Lily stayed in, and gave a little knock on the door.Â
She smiled, waiting for Lily to answer. Oh, hopefully she was home...
