Hanif Abdurraqib, in “Why this poet sees grief as its own kind of spiritual practice”
this could be us 👉🏻👈🏻
Clarice Lispector, from a letter to Fernando Sabino featured in Why This World: A Biography of Clarice Lispector
after seven years, i had the terrible realization that i will never learn something new about him. the grief of today was not as overwhelming as it has been in previous years, as time and more loss has blanketed this old wound, scabbing it over, numbing it bit by bit. but when i realized i would never hear an anecdote about his habits, an encounter he had the day before, a thought he wished to share with us through his own lips, i was thrown back seven years. how do you live when another is gone? when does this version of life, without him in it, become normal?
we must believe the love is worth the risk of whatever comes after btw

what's the opposite of feeling sand slip through your fingers because I feel this poem more and more as time passes
This translation is by Dr. Eileen Chengyin Chow (and my favorite for sure!)
Nobleness Djavan Our old friendship was born From a light that shone In the eyes of autumn I looked at you with caution and awe However, you smiled Granting me the gift to see Carved in you, nobleness, head on Love laying bare Amid so many people A candy unwrapped for me, I save it for the end, to eat it slowly Such is a great friendship Two men in love And to feel the joy of seeing The hand of pleasure beckoning to us Love growing at last Like lemongrass for my teeth
Hey remember these? Now there are prints!
