✎ Series
off campus (niki’s version) — a, f, h/c
A collection of oneshots and two-shots based on Nicole, an album by NIKI.
✎ Allie Hayes
i’m so obsessed with your ex — s
No, you’re not obsessed with Allie Hayes—and you’re definitely not feeling inferior. It’s just… you can’t help but compare yourself to her, especially because Dean was so enamored with her. Who wouldn’t, really? | 1.09k words
nobody but us, bodies together — 18+
“Rough practice?” You ask, reaching out to Dean as he practically slams the bedroom door open, slamming it back closed behind him. You reach a hand out, tugging the hem of his shirt slightly to let him fall onto the bed between you and Allie. “You wouldn’t want to know,” he growls, his eyes darkening with that familiar fiery gaze. | 1.7k words
‘cause when the stars align, you might bring the beast out — 18+
Dean’s eyes finally drift over to you, and he smirks. That wordless expression conveys all he wants you to hear—that could have been you on his lap if only you weren’t such a brat, pissing him off, stressing Allie out. | 1.3k words
and i put you on my pace, so i know you like to beg — 18+
The nights that followed that whole punishment ordeal were normal—well, as normal as they could be. You had not found it in yourself to apologize for the absolute brat you had been, which you realized pretty late was also… an act of defiance in itself, which probably explains the lack of sex. But honestly, who could blame you? You were pent-up and chronically horny and constantly wet, but every time you tried to let your partners know, they always found a way to deflect and redirect the conversation until you found yourselves under the covers—not to fuck, but to sleep. | 1.5k words
✎ Dean di Laurentis
it’s time to lose your mind and let the crazy out — s
It’s one thing to rile you up—after all, you get riled up rather easily—but to piss Dean off is another. Dean—your voice of reason with the patience of a saint when it comes to you—is different when he is triggered, especially when it involves you. | 1.4k words
tell me where you’re hiding your voodoo doll ‘cause i can’t control myself — f, cr
He barely knows you, so why does he feel so strongly for you? It’s not love (yet), but maybe it’s something dangerously close—no, he barely knows you. It should not be possible to like you like that. | 3k words

It’s a shame you had to be a bad girl, hm?” He wonders out loud. “Did you think you could get away with flirting with the waiter right in front of me? Think you can pull that stunt and end the night unscathed? Think you can be a brat and I will let you sleep it off?” | 1.05k

✎ Garrett Graham
suddenly i see — f, cr, slight hc
“I don’t think you do, baby.” He crawls closer, holding your face delicately in his large hands. “I’m not trying to humiliate you by revisiting your most embarrassing moments. I want you to understand where I’m coming from and why I say that you need to wear your glasses. Every time you tell me you’re fine, you end up squinting, rubbing your eyes, missing details unless you are standing close. I don’t want you to keep hurting when there’s something that can help.” | 2.6k words
know wherever you will be, so too shall i be — f, hc
Home really is where the heart is, he realizes as he finally looks at you—not from the tiny screen on his phone, not from the photos you send him throughout the days, not from the video calls you sneak in during your free time—as you stand right in front of him. | 4.3k words
like a fantasy in front of me, i know that something special’s going down — 18+
“May I?” He asks quietly, his voice deep and rough from lust, and you nod wordlessly. He groans into your mouth as his lips finally meet yours, his hands wandering around your skin over the fabric of your dress. “I’ve been wanting to do this since I saw you in this damn dress—been wanting to kiss you senseless, to fuck you in this very dress until your mind goes blank. That what you want, baby? To be fucked stupid?” | 2.2k words
spent a lifetime looking for somebody to give me love like you — f, hc
A lot of people know Garrett Graham as the burly, relentless captain of Briar U’s hockey team. They see the drive and the passion to chase after the puck, the goals he scores, the games he wins. But very few people know the man who softly, lovingly, patiently wakes at the ass crack of dawn to run you a bath, quietly change the sheets while humming his favorite song, and wash your clothes by hand for you without so much as a complaint. You think you’re by far the luckiest woman in the world to know this version of Garrett. | 1.1k words

say my name and everything just stops — a, hc
“Okay, baby.” His eyes never stray from your face—he can deal with everything else later. “Where do you want me?” He asks, and you know that it is his way of asking whether you are okay with him sitting with you. | 2.2k words
‘cause it’s real once everyone knows — a, hc
It was weird—your heart was shattered into a million pieces, and you couldn’t even turn to anyone because nobody knew. A part of you thought that since nobody else knew, then that might have meant that whatever it was between you was not real. | 4.5k words
you know i’ll be there when you call me, whether you like it or not — f
You love John Logan—the man who goes out of his way to make sure you are comfortable and safe, who will drive through terrible weather to pick you up from a night out, who drops everything to come fix something as simple as your door hinges creaking when you open them. You love John Logan, and he loves you. You know that because he always goes the extra mile to make sure you do. | 0.9k words
in a swirling day, you’ve given me a piece of happiness — tw, a, hc
Before everything escalates, you quickly grab your things and go straight for the front door with a quiet, rushed, “I’ll see you later,” to no one in particular. You do not stay long enough to witness the inevitable—or what you think is the inevitable. The heat of Logan’s anger, the raised voices, the tense emotions of the rest of the guys, and the growing certainty that you’ve somehow ruined everything have become too much for you to comprehend. | 1.3k words
in a perfect world i’d kill to love you the loudest, but all i do is live to hurt you soundless — a
He had spent the last few weeks too lost in his own head, too busy drowning in his own thoughts that he had been pulling away from everything that mattered most. But sitting across from you made him realize how you had never left his side even when he wanted nothing but to wallow in his own misery. But it’s not fair for you—he could not keep letting you down and watch as you picked the pieces of yourself back up, so you could keep him afloat. It’s not fair. | 2.6k words | part of off campus (niki’s version)
the girl i won’t be is the one that’s yours — a
You hoped your words would get through to him, but he turned his back to you anyway. You could only watch as he walked away from you, from the life you had built together, and the future that could have been. You watched Logan leave, but you saw your father walk through the door. | 3.1k words | part of off campus (niki’s version)

“Of course she’s alive, dingus.” Allie rolls her eyes from beside him, snatching the phone from his hand, eliciting an offended, ‘Hey!’ from Dean, which she effectively ignores. “She had a wisdom tooth extraction, not an open heart surgery.” | 1.09k words
without saying anything, you are the only one who knows me — f
“Here, why don’t you eat some breakfast, darling?” He presents you the plate of the sandwich Logan had tried so hard to fight for. “Here is a sandwich for you, milady, no pickles, no onions, no mayo, no mustard, the crusts are cut off, and most importantly, the egg yolk is perfectly cooked.” | 0.4k words

The nights that followed that whole punishment ordeal were normal—well, as normal as they could be. Fuck that, it would have been normal if it weren’t for the sex—or the lack thereof.
You could not touch yourself either because every time you even thought of doing so, it was as if Dean and Allie could read your mind. They shot you certain looks every single time—it didn’t matter if you were right beside each other or across the room, the moment you started squirming in your place, they gave you a look to shut down the idea of pleasuring yourself.
However, after the fourth day of your unwanted celibacy, you finally exploded.
With both Dean and Allie out of the house and you alone in your boyfriend’s room, you thought you had enough time to yourself without getting caught, so you eagerly stripped and laid on Dean’s bed, your legs spreading instinctively.
The first touch of your fingers against your clit made you moan and arch your back—it had been so long you honestly forgot the feeling of being touched. After almost a week of being untouched, you found yourself on the verge of an orgasm pretty quickly. Despite the sensation being so addictive, you willed yourself to slow down—after all, you had at least an hour and a half to yourself. You could take your time, so you did.
You rubbed your clit just right, while your free hand tweaked and pinched your nipple. Your fingertips trailed from your clit down to your hole, prodding around before inserting a digit. You pumped your finger a few times—it did not feel as good as when Dean or Allie did it for you, that was for sure, but you managed to locate your g-spot pretty quickly. The simultaneous sensations brought your touch starved body closer and closer to your peak.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck,” you hissed, bringing your other hand down to rub at your clit while two of your fingers were thrusting in and out of your hole at a more rapid pace. “Fuck!”
The door opened just as your release gushed out of your cunt, spraying into the air and wetting the bed, but you were too lost riding the intense waves of your high to realize that you were no longer alone.
Only when someone cleared their throat did you jump, pulling the covers over your naked form just to see both Allie and Dean standing by the closed door. The former had her arms crossed over her chest, while the latter’s face was hard, his jaw clenched so tightly it looked painful.
“I thought…” you said weakly, gripping the edge of the sheets as you trembled beneath it, both due to your orgasm and the unwavering gaze they had you pinned under. “I thought you would be back in an hour…”
“Why’d you want us gone so bad, baby?” Allie crooned, walking over to the edge of the bed—close enough to touch you, but she did not. “So you have more time to break our rules? To be a bad girl without repercussions?” She yanked the sheets off and let her eyes roam over your still trembling frame and the bed beneath you. “You are all wet and messy now.” She tutted.
Your eyes strayed from Allie and followed Dean as he casually walked toward his closet. He did not even glance at the bed—he just walked by like his sweatpants were not tighter.
You gasped when Allie gripped your chin tightly, forcing your gaze toward her. Your hand shot down to grip her wrist and she let you—a bit of reprieve from what was about to come.
“Look at me,” she snapped. “Do you want to make it up to us?” Amusement flickered across her face when you jerked your head in a nod. “Then fucking listen.”
“Yes, I will listen,” you breathed out, your face still squished in her tight grip.
“Yes, what?”
“Yes, mommy.”
“Good girl.” Her voice softened at the same time her grip did. She then crawled down until she was face-to-face with your thighs. She laid on her stomach, gently parted your thighs, and placed your legs on her shoulders. “Now stay there and let me eat.” She did not wait for a response and dove into your pussy.
“Holy shit!” You cried out as her tongue flicked your sensitive clit. You were about to grab Allie’s hair when a large hand wrapped around your wrist, and you groaned, your fist clenching and unclenching. “Dean!”
The sight of your boyfriend—shirtless and smirking—made you even wetter (if that was even possible).
“That’s not my fucking name,” he said darkly, his grip tightening. “What’s my name, slut?”
You grinned, your chest heaving. “Dean di Laurentis?”
Dean’s eyes darkened, his other hand wrapping around your throat—tight enough to make your breath hitch. “You’re still being a fucking brat, huh?”
The tight grip around your throat paired with Allie fucking your cunt with her tongue and then her fingers, you felt your orgasm creeping closer. “Fuck, I’m so close!” You gasped, squirming away from your partners’ touches, but Dean’s grip on your neck and Allie’s arm wrapped around your thighs stopped you from getting away.
“I said, stay there and let me fucking eat,” Allie growled from between your thighs, slapping your cunt harshly, and you yelped, tears springing to your eyes.
“Oh God, can I please cum?” You cried out, your free hand holding the sheets tightly. “Please, please, please?”
“I don’t know, can you?” Dean drawled, moving his hand from your wrist to lace your fingers together. He pinned your hand on the plush cushion beneath you. “Beg nicely, baby.”
“Please, sir, can I please cum?” A few tears escaped your eyes, and Allie slowed down slightly, looking up at Dean for instructions.
“Don’t you dare stop, Allie-cat,” he growled, his eyes never leaving yours, “Cum for us,” he murmured, his grip softening slightly. “Now.”
“Oh my God!” You shrieked, your back arching so high Dean had to remove his hand from your throat. You creamed all over your girlfriend, who moaned into your cunt. Tears finally spilled over nonstop as Allie continued eating you out. “It’s too much!” You cried, trying to push her head back with your free hand, but Dean took both your wrists in his large one.
“You wanted to cum, didn’t you?” He chuckled, his lips trailing featherlight kisses all over the expanse of your jaw and neck. “You are going to cum over…” He placed a kiss over your pulse point. “And over…” He kissed up to your jawline. “And over…” A kiss to your cheek. “And over…” A kiss to your nose. “Again.” He finally kissed your lips tenderly, a stark contrast to his rough hands.
“It’s too much,” You stammered, your chest heaving as you breathed heavily. “I need…”
“Tell me what you need,” Dean murmured.
“I can’t,” you sobbed. “Please!”
Allie surged up, feeling you tremble violently around her. “What’s your color, baby?” She asked, placing your shaking legs down on the bed.
“So green.”
“Good fucking girl.” Dean smirked down at you. “We are not over, you little slut. Your pretty little pussy’s going to be so sore when we’re finished with you.” He crawled off the bed, stripping his sweatpants and his boxers off.
He slotted himself between your thighs, while Allie sat on the bed by your head, her hands stroking your hair. He wrapped a hand around his thick cock, his wrist moving to stroke the hardened length, while his free hand found your clit, rubbing just in time with his strokes.
You twitched, and both your partners laughed.
“So sensitive, baby,” Allie cooed, still stroking your hair. “Are you close again? You are, aren’t you?” She grinned, her free hand moving from your shoulder down to your pebbled nipple. Her hand stroking your hair found your jaw when you responded with nothing but a choked out moan. “I asked you a question, baby.”
“Yes! Yes, I’m close, fuck!” You cried out.
“Is that so?” Dean giggled and swiped at your clit faster, and within a few swipes, you felt your orgasm build up, almost immediately on the verge of exploding. “Cum for us, baby,” he cooed.
You did not need to be told twice.
You swore you blacked out as you actually orgasmed for the first time in days. Allie had to turn your head and capture your lips in a kiss, swallowing the loud moan that came out of your mouth. You vaguely heard Dean groan from above you, faintly feeling the warm ropes of his release on your skin.
It felt like forever before they had finished with you, and true to Dean’s words, your pussy was throbbing and sore. You were only half-conscious as they pulled orgasm after orgasm out of you, and it took you quite a while to regain consciousness completely afterwards, but by the time you came down, you were already dressed in comfortable clothes, lying between Dean and Allie as they chatted normally while their hands soothed your flushed skin.
Hiya babes! Saw your post about being in a bit of a slump and taking requests for drabbles.
First of all, I’m sorry you’re in a slump, that really sucks..❤️🩹
But! You’ll get there! Now in the meantime:
Could I perchance request a first-time fic with either GG, Logan or Dean? Reader is inexperienced, but not clueless (read: reads lots of smutty romances), and it’s just really sweet and fluffy, maybe even a bit of banter and some aftercare? Maybe reader is kind of overwhelmed after they’re done, but she’s not sure why exactly?
Anyhow, hope you’d consider writing this.
All the lovee!💕
anon you are so sweet thank you so much for the kindest words 🥹🫶🏼 i hope you still like it even though it’s super duper short aaaa but i love love this concept so i might write another drabble w the aftercare hihi

“You don’t have to do this, baby,” Dean murmured, stroking your thigh as he sat between your legs. He looked down at your form laid on your back on the bed.
“I know, Dean,” you breathed out, your tense body sagging slightly. “I want to, I really do. I’m just… scared.”
“Of what, honey?” He hummed, leaning down to press soothing kisses on your skin. “Talk to me, baby. You know you can tell me anything, right?”
You nodded, biting your lip as you tried to look for the right words to say without making it all sound weird, but to no avail—it was weird no matter how you looked at it.
“I’m not scared of you,” you finally said after a few moments of silence.
“Uh-huh?” He sat up straighter to be able to look at you properly, his attentive eyes scanning your face.
“I’m scared because…” You grimaced. “Because you’re so big and I never thought they could be that big,” you said everything in one breath, watching his reaction nervously.
He only looked confused, his brows furrowing as he tried to make sense of your jumbled words. “I’m sorry?” He tilted his head. “I’m sorry, baby, I didn’t catch that.”
“Dean!” You whined, slapping his chest lightly. “Please don’t make me say it again.”
“Baby.” He grasped your wrist gently, bringing your palm to his lips. “I wouldn’t know how to help you if you don’t let me,” he murmured against your skin, his other hand still stroking your thigh soothingly. “I promised not to judge, didn’t I? Whatever you’re feeling is completely normal anyway. There’s nothing to be ashamed of, honey.”
You sighed, finally caving in. “I’m scared because of your size,” you said quietly. “I have never seen a penis in person before—well, outside the anatomy classes I’ve had before. The point is, you’re… huge, and I don’t know how you’d fit inside me.”
Dean could not help the twitching of his mouth, and you groaned. “Dean, you promised not to judge!” You hid your face behind your hands, but he gently pried them away.
“Please don’t hide from me, gorgeous,” he spoke softly, “I’m sorry for smiling like that, but I promise that I’m not judging. You are just too adorable, you know that?” He smiled down at you in reassurance. “We can take it slow. We don’t have to rush, we have time. We don’t even have to do it at all.” He pressed tender kisses all over your face. “Just tell me what you want, baby doll, I’m all yours.”

The Maxwells’ summer house was alive—that was the only word you could come up with to describe it. There were people everywhere you looked, red solo cups discarded on every corner of the room, and mysterious liquid all over the floor—you did not even want to know.
It was the legendary Maxwell-Di Laurentis birthday bash, and truth be told, you were having the time of your life. You were dressed as Harley Quinn with Allie as your Poison Ivy, while Hannah was dressed as a bunny to Garrett’s magician. It was the best night you have had in a while, and you told yourself you were not going to spoil your fun by not drinking, so there you were, on your fifth drink of the night—and it had not even been two hours into the party.
You were on the dance floor with Allie and Hannah when you peeled away from your friends. “I'm gonna get more drinks!” You practically yelled over the music and the sounds of people. “Do you want some?!”
“No thanks!” They responded in unison, and you only nodded.
You stumbled through the room and into the kitchen, rummaging through the coolers for a can of beer, but you found something better instead—John Tucker doing shots, looking absolutely gorgeous.
You watched as he downed the glass of whatever, your mission to look for something to drink completely forgotten. Your eyes never left his form as he slammed the shot glass down on the countertop, and he looked up, his eyes meeting yours.
His lips twitched up in a beautiful smile and the corners of his eyes crinkled, and your heart did a stupid flip. You quickly—and almost awkwardly—smiled back, and looked down at your phone, needing something to look at before he caught you watching him.
You typed through your blurry vision, your fingers flying across the screen automatically. You sent a series of messages to what you assumed was the group chat you had with Allie and Hannah.
You: hilyshit balls gyys.
You: John FuckijgTucker.
You: howis he so gorgeus i’ts insane byeeeeewwqwwe
You: ihave the iggest fattestcrush on him in thiswhole room btw
You went back to rummaging through the coolers, completely oblivious as Tucker fished his own phone out of his pocket. You swore you felt your soul leave your body when you turned, only to find the man himself leaning against the wall.
“What the fuck!” You gasped, placing a hand over your racing heart. “Warn a girl next time, dude.”
He only smirked in response, his hand toying with his phone. “Gorgeous, huh?” He grinned, and you instantly sobered up, your heart dropping to your stomach.
“Tuck, I’m so, so, so sorry. That was meant for my friends,” you rushed out, your face warm with humiliation.
“I figured as much.” His grin softens into a smile. “But if it helps, I have the biggest, fattest crush on you too. In this whole room, by the way.”

“Do I look okay?” You asked Madison, your sorority sister-slash-roommate, for what felt like the millionth time that afternoon.
“Babe, you literally look like the most stunning woman in all of Massachusetts,” she said as she did your hair in front of your vanity. “And if he doesn’t see that, he’s an idiot. They’re all idiots, actually.” You heard the tinge of bitterness in her tone, and you smiled at her sympathetically through the mirror.
“Mads, you know what Dean was like when you hooked up with him,” you said gently, “You know he doesn’t do girlfriends. Does he even do round twos?”
“I know, babe, I know.” She sighed, finishing off with your hair. “I’m sorry, I don’t mean to ruin your special night.” She then smiled at you giddily, stroking your carefully done hair just as carefully. “You look absolutely gorgeous, by the way. If his jaw doesn’t drop to the floor, and he doesn’t start begging on his knees for forgiveness when he sees you, he’s an imbecile. I said what I said.”
You were about to respond when your phone rang on the desk. Both you and Madison grimaced as soon as you saw your dad’s incoming call.
“Well, I’ll leave you to it,” Madison says gently, blowing you a kiss. “Enjoy your night with the prince charming, babe.”
“Thank you so much, Mads. I owe you, I love you,” you called after her, and she waved you off with a grin as she closed the door behind her.
Taking a deep breath, you picked your phone up from your vanity and answered the incoming call. “Hi, dad.”
“Hello, sweetheart!” He greeted cheerfully, the noise around him muting as he presumably moved to a quieter room. “What are you up to tonight? Your Nana is asking for you.”
“Oh.” You laughed quietly. “Where are you guys right now? Why is it so loud there?”
“We’re at Nana’s, honey, an impromptu dinner. Didn’t you read through the group chat?” He asked, and you heard his tone turn stricter—it was subtle, but years of dealing with your dad and his moods meant you knew the moment his emotions would change.
“No, I’m sorry, I was, uh, busy,” you responded quietly, carefully gauging his mood. “I was getting ready for a night out.”
“With that boy again?” His voice dropped low, and you could vividly see him with his jaw clenched and his hand on his hip like he was standing right in front of you.
“Dad—”
“(Y/N), we told you that boy cannot give you the life you want,” he spoke sharply. “You cannot build a life with a boy who does not have his life figured out at his age.”
“Dad, I don’t think—” you paused, looking for the right words to say. Ultimately, you settled for a quiet, “I don’t have my life figured out either.”
“But you always have something to offer—you always have a fallback,” he retorted, “Unlike that boy. What can he give you when that superficial dream of his fails?”
“Dad…” you said—it was all you could say. Not because you did not love Logan enough to defend him, but because you knew arguing with a man like your father was useless. He believed what he wanted to believe, and there was nothing that could get through to him once his mind was made up. “Tell Nana I’m sorry for missing tonight and that I’d gladly set a brunch for the both of us.”
Your dad sighed, and you could almost see him rubbing his forehead in the way he always did when something stressed him out, but he did not want to be too dramatic about it—well, it was too late, you thought.
“Okay, honey,” he spoke, his voice now soft and apologetic—he would never apologize, though. He would send paper bags filled with designer items to your sorority house the next day, then it was as though everything would be forgotten—that was just how he was, and you did not see the point of trying to get through to him. “You know I’m saying all this for your own wellbeing, right?”
“I know, dad.” You sighed to yourself. “I’ll see you soon.”
“I love you, sweetheart. You and the girls take care,” he chirped before hanging up.
You sat there for a few more minutes before straightening up, smiling at your reflection in the mirror. “You’re going to have a fun night with your boyfriend, and you’re going to forget about your family for one night. You’re okay, (Y/N), keep it together,” you muttered with a deep breath. You gave yourself another smile and an imaginary pat on the back before standing and exiting the room.
When you got to the living room, a few of your sisters were lounging around.
“(Y/N), you look so pretty!” Rachel chirped from the couch. “Is Logan picking you up?”
Your smile faltered a little at the question. “Uh, no, I’ll meet him at the restaurant.”
“Babe…” Rachel frowned.
“No, Rach, it’s fine, I promise. Besides, embrace modernity, right? The guy does not always have to pick the woman up and everything.” You laughed, albeit awkward.
“I know, babe, but he hasn’t really done anything for you lately,” Rachel said gently.
“Rach, can we please not talk about this?” You grimaced, and she nodded in understanding.
“I’m sorry, (Y/N).” She wrapped her arms around you tightly. “Enjoy your date, okay? You deserve this.”
—
It took about fifteen minutes for you to reach the restaurant and park your car, but it took you approximately an hour and twenty minutes to realize that your boyfriend was not coming. Maybe it was the lack of texts from him that made you realize—or maybe it was the look of pity from the waiter who had brought you water at least five times that night. You checked your phone for the last time, debating whether you should call him or not, but you ultimately decided that you would come to him.
That was how you found yourself standing in the hockey arena, cold and shivering as you watched your boyfriend run laps around the rink, swinging his stick at the puck.
The excitement from earlier began to diminish as you watched Logan relentlessly chase after the tiny thing on the ice. His head did not seem to be in it though—he completely missed almost every goal.
You smiled sympathetically to yourself while he hit the puck as hard as he could, but he still missed. In his frustration, he practically yanked his helmet off. You stood there for a few more minutes before he finally noticed you.
“Hi,” you murmured, the smile slipping from your face as you saw his exhausted eyes. “Are you okay?”
His face slackened and you saw how his grip on his gear loosened.
“Fine,” he gritted out. “I’m fine. I’m sorry I forgot about our date.”
“No, it’s alright,” you responded, “We can always reschedule. Are you sure you’re okay?
Reschedule. The word felt like ashes in your mouth as you uttered it, and Rachel’s words suddenly echoed in your head—
‘He hasn’t done anything for you lately.’
You hated how she was somehow right, but a big part of you wanted to understand where he was coming from—all the pressure from being a D1 athlete, from being the eldest son of an alcoholic. He was going through things you could not even imagine being in—you were a sorority secretary and the youngest daughter of a wealthy family—your struggles were nothing compared to what he was experiencing, so you wanted nothing more than to be there for him—to be the understanding girl your family had raised you to be.
He silently nodded, his eyes roaming your figure. If this was any other day, you would have felt heat pooling in your core, but then, you only felt your heart dropping to your stomach. You knew that look—you knew he thought you were angry or disappointed, but you were neither. You were in love still.
To break the awkward silence, you asked, “Do you want to eat dinner somewhere else?” You tried to keep your tone light and airy, but it came out quiet instead, so you settled for another joke, “You know, since it’s way past the fifteen-minute grace period, we definitely lost that reservation.”
It obviously did not land the way you wanted it to, judging by how he visibly winced. “I’m sorry.” He skated closer to the gate. “Let me go get changed, and we can eat out. My treat.” He smiled at you, albeit awkwardly, but you smiled back anyway, happy that he was at least trying.
“Take your time.”
The weight in your chest seemed to have been lifted a little as you waited for Logan to finish changing. The silent drive to Taco Shack was also a little less tense, and by the time you sat in your usual spot, the sinking feeling in your stomach had completely dissipated.
Your boyfriend remained silent across the table, but he was here, and that was what mattered most. You wanted him to be as comfortable as he could around you, so instead of starting a conversation, you looked through the menu, which you realized probably looked ridiculous. You knew the contents of the menu—you could recite each item listed word for word, and you both knew that. But you did not want to hover over him, so you did what you could with what you had.
You could feel him staring long before he said, “You’re quiet,” but you froze anyway, which was also not the best choice on your part, you thought as you watched his face harden slightly. He looked apprehensive—like he had confirmed something you did not know about, so you smiled at him to appease him, but it faltered under his intense gaze, feeling as though he was sizing you up.
“I’m… sorry,” you responded slowly, racking your brain for the right words to say without setting him off. “I’m sorry, I just have a lot going on at the moment. I’m alright though, I promise.” You held his hand firmly over the table, giving him a wider, more confident smile.
He was quiet afterwards, his eyes still scanning your face. After what felt like forever, he finally spoke. “Care to share?” You heard the strain in his voice, but you chose not to comment on it.
“It’s nothing serious, just… we’re in the last semester of junior year,” you responded with a shrug, unconsciously fiddling with the edge of the menu. “I don’t know, I just feel pressured, I guess. We’re graduating next year, but I still feel… lost. I don’t know what I want to do after graduation, and my family’s been asking about it. I just don’t know what to tell them.”
You did not tell him how your family had also been asking about him and his future, and how you did not know what to tell them either—you did not want them bringing him down more than they already were behind his back. You wanted to protect him so badly, but you did not know how—not when he himself did not know how.
“Oh, uh…” He gently untangled his hand from yours to awkwardly rub his nape—a nervous tic of his you did not want to say anything about, not wanting to scare him off right when he was finally opening up. “What about the business?”
“I don’t know if that’s what I want to do. Business management has never exactly been my passion.” You realized how tone deaf your words sounded after you had spoken them, especially in front of a man who had been busting his ass off to secure the future he had been waiting for, but you felt it was too late to take them back, so you settled for damage control instead—
“I really don’t know what I want to do,” you said. “Maybe I’ll just stop after getting my bachelor’s degree. Maybe I’ll just live as your trophy wife.” You kept your voice light in an attempt to cut through the tension that had built in just a few minutes of conversation.
You watched as his brows furrowed and his jaw clenched, and your heart dropped. He laughed bitterly, the sound dry and humorless. “You really don’t see it, do you?” He gritted. “You don’t see how lucky you are to even have that choice?”
Your smile faltered. “Loge, it was just a joke.” You chuckled awkwardly, your chest sinking further as his eyes remained dark with anger. “I’m sorry,” you said quietly, your lower lip trembling. “I didn’t realize my joke would come across that way—I never meant to make you feel like I look down on you, and I’m sorry I made you feel like you had to raise your voice for me to hear you. You never have to—I love you, Loge, I hear you every single time.”
Your words seemed to have cut through the tension, and you saw his shoulders sag—not with relief, more of something you could not name—and the way anger left his eyes, leaving behind a pool of tears.
You watched with bated breath as his teary eyes scanned your face for several moments before he looked away completely.
“I think.” He swallowed harshly, and realization hit you like a wrecking ball, but before you could speak up, he continued, “I think we should end this.”
Despite the earlier realization, his words still left you in disbelief, and the only thing you could utter was a broken, “Logan, what?” You desperately tried to justify his decision, but you could come up with nothing, and that broke you more than the seemingly abrupt conclusion he had jumped into. You wanted nothing more than to be the shoulder he could lean on, but he wanted nothing to do with you anymore, and you did not even know why. “What are you talking about? Was it something I did? Tell me, Logan, please don’t leave me in the dark. If it’s something I did, tell me and I will do something about it.”
“Baby, it’s not you. I…” He paused, and you wanted to interrupt—to yell at him, to shake the answers out of him, but you held back. “You have loved me so well despite everything—I mean, I’ve been passed over twice in the NHL drafts. If I don’t make it to the Bruins, I’m done for, and it’s killing me. But you’re still here.”
You felt the words bubble out of your throat, eager to escape in a scream, but you swallowed them back. Instead, you only let out a quiet, “But that’s not the only shot you have.” Your hand grasped his firmly as if your tight hold would keep him from drifting away further than he already was—like you could keep him right beside you. “And I love it here, Loge, I love you. I don’t mind being anywhere as long as it’s with you.”
He was fading right in front of you, and you could not do anything about it. You would have sunk in deep with him if he would only let you.
“Come on.” He laughed humorlessly. “I’m no Garrett Graham. I’m not a hockey prodigy with a rich father—”
The rest of his words are drowned out by the growing fog in your head.
You did not want a Garrett Graham—you did not want to see a reflection of you every time you woke up. You did not want to prove your family right by ending up with someone they told you exactly who would do right by you. You did not want to lose your Logan to a Graham. You did not want to lose your Logan at all.
“—I can’t drag you down with me if I lose that spot with the Bruins. I can’t ask you to build a life around someone whose entire future depends on a single roster decision. I can’t do that to you, Y/N.” You heard the words he left unsaid—he could not do that to you and your family. The loyalty he had to your family was ironic, and it made you feel worse—he looked up to those people so much without knowing how much they looked down on people like him. “I love you, but I think it’s better if we end this before we hurt ourselves more.”
You could only look at him, the silence settling between you like an unbreakable wall. You felt the immense guilt seeping through your soul—you did not tell him about your family in an attempt to protect him, but here he was, unknowingly believing exactly what your people thought of him.
“You can’t decide that for me.” You squeezed his hand, but your heart sank further when he pulled away. “No, John, you can’t decide what’s good for me and what’s not. I love you, don’t you understand? I don’t care who you end up to be, I don’t care where life takes you in the future—I care about you. Don’t let your head get the best of who you are, Logan.”
“I’m sorry.” His face was devoid of anger—in its place was heartbreaking pain. You wanted to reach out to him, to hold him and tell him everything would be alright, but you held back. “I’m so sorry. You deserve someone better—you deserve someone who is not me. You deserve to build the life you have always wanted, and I can’t give that to you. Not when I’m drowning, not when I keep dragging you down with me.”
You watched his lips move, but you heard your father’s voice as the words came out.
“I hope that you someday find it in your heart to forgive me for doing this to you, but I’ll understand if you don’t. I’m so sorry, Y/N. I hope you have a wonderful life ahead of you, even when it’s no longer with me—especially then.”
You yearned to tell him that there was nothing to forgive, how you understood why he was doing what he was, but you did not. You realized he did not want to hear that, so you settled for a sharp, “Walk away then.”
You told me you loved me—you kept calling this love, but you never even stopped and asked what I wanted.” You continued, “You kept deciding for me without considering what I needed. You’re all I need, John—you’re all I ever needed. I don’t care about the Bruins or your mom’s garage or anything else—I care about you.”
You hoped your words would get through to him, but he turned his back to you anyway.
You could only watch as he walked away from you, from the life you had built together, and the future that could have been. You watched Logan leave, but you saw your father walk through the door.

“I had so much fun tonight,” you murmured, instinctively squeezing his hand in yours as he drove. “Thank you for that.”
“I’m glad you did.” Logan’s smile grew brighter. “I was nervous it wouldn’t end up how you liked it.”
“Are you kidding?” You let out a disbelieving laugh. “It was so much better than what I had imagined my first date was going to be, trust me.”
His hand found yours whenever he could. The comforting silence settled between you as he continued driving to your boarding house.
“Did you have fun?” You asked softly, your thumb stroking the back of his hand, and he glanced at you briefly. The grins never seemed to leave your faces.
“I really did, baby,” he replied just as softly. “Most fun I’ve had in my life.”
“Now you’re just trolling me.” You rolled your eyes affectionately.
“Baby, I’m not, I swear!” He laughed when you let go of his hand to cross your arms over your chest. “I promise. Anywhere is fun when it’s with you.”
Your arms slackened and your hands fell to your lap, a dopey smile growing on your face. You turned your head away from him as you felt your face warm.
Logan only beamed at your reaction, and there was a lull in the air as he pulled into the driveway of your off-campus boarding house.
“Well, this is me,” you said, almost shy as you unbuckled your seatbelt.
“Wait there.” He quickly unfastened his own seatbelt and got out of the car. He jogged around his truck to open your door, his hand outstretched. “My lady.”
“Such a gentleman,” you teased, taking his hand to exit the truck. “Why thank you, good sir.”
He walked you to your door, and you both lingered quietly on the porch before you spoke, “I really had fun tonight, Loge.” You ducked your head with a bashful smile. “I’ll see you tomorrow?”
“Wait!” He grasped your wrist before you could turn to unlock the front door.
“Yeah?”
He did not immediately respond—instead, his free hand came up to cup your face. “May I?” He whispered and you nodded automatically, your heartbeat quickening.
He leaned in and you met him halfway.
The kiss was nothing like the movies. There were no fireworks. The world did not stop spinning either. If anything, it was better than the movies.
