what is your opinion on me creating an oc just to see streber in the afterlife and to make him suffer
I'm afraid for Streber but I would also really want to see their reaction.. and why he's suffering bc of your oc 🤨
voice training
Just a couple of thoughts here - I’ll add any that you drop in our askbox to this post, if you have any ideas!
The things I know of are pretty simplistic.
Practice singing as low or high as you can go every day (although not continuously for long periods of time, especially in the low direction, to avoid damage). This is most easily achieved with a piano or some kind of piano app, singing along to it.
Warm drinks relax the vocal cords and allow lower tones, and cold ones tighten them for higher tones, if I recall this correctly.
Masculine or feminine voices aren’t just about pitch! A lot of male singers are indistinguishable from their alto female counterparts purely by pitch. Things that tend to distinguish them are tone (guys tend to be more monotonous, girls to have more fluctuation and go high when inflecting), timbre (gravelly and rough or thin and sharp), and diction (apparently there’s a difference in the way people pronounce words; don’t remember exactly what it is beyond guys slurring slightly more though.)
Some of this is a psychosomatic thing. Especially in the case of people who’ve had traumatic or stressful childhoods like I have, there’s an apparent tendency to go high when nervous or faced with difficult situations. Personally, I tend to drop from this child-like lilt when tense to a gravelly drawl when relaxed. See if you can observe any changes in your voice based on your environment. What are the emotions that make you speak in certain ways? Can you utilize that outside those situations?
Honestly, if cost isn’t an object, I’d recommend finding a vocal trainer who works with actors. They’re not likely to be fazed by a person who needs a particular type of voice, whether for an acting role or not (and you don’t have to say!), and they’ll have years of expertise to bring to use.
