CHILDHOOD (1992-2005)
Eunice was born to Daehyun and Eunjoo Kwon right in Roswell, New Mexico. The two of them owned a dry cleaners together, the place where young Eunice would garner her most precious memories. From her first broken bone, to her first lost tooth, even her first kiss in high school, they all happened right at Kwon’s Cleaners. This was also where she was delivered the harsh truth about her father’s health.
Her dream career as a child was to be a designer, her life for fashion shining through every outfit she’d chosen carefully for school. Her mother purchased a sewing machine for her when she was in middle school and she even took multiple successful stabs at making her own clothing.
She speaks English, Korean and Spanish fluently as a result of her father being born in Argentina. She always found his upbringing interesting, especially when she found out that Argentina had the largest Korean diaspora outside of the US.
She participated in pageants as a child due to her mother’s encouragement. She won Little Miss Roswell when she was 8 years old but never liked the trophy so has since buried it away to hopefully never be seen again.
She had an incredibly close bond with both of her parents with no direct trauma connected to how she was treated by them. She is the oldest child of four, though and her siblings are a different story.
She began playing volleyball and taking part in gymnastics during her childhood years as a way to stay fit while doing something she loved. She once dreamed of entering the rhythmic gymnastics competition in the Olympics.
TEEN YEARS (2005-2011)
When she was just 14, she unfortunately lost her father to cancer. This would make the major shift in her once rather bubbly personality. Instead of volleyball and gymnastics as something she loved and doing it for fun, she grew viciously competitive with those around her. She was once suspended from volleyball for breaking a girl’s nose when she spiked the ball in her face.
All in all, she grew distant with her large group of friends at the time. Some were understanding, others not so much. At the end of the day, she convinced herself that she didn’t care about those who couldn’t quite grasp why she was so distant suddenly.
At a young age, she decided that she would step up as the ‘man’ of the family, working any little odd job she could to help her mother make ends meet with a dead husband and four kids to take care of.
When she was eighteen, an opportunity was presented to her to join the US Army, and she did it without a second thought. She thought of this as a way to take care of her family, so she did.
When she was twenty-one, she took advantage of New Mexico having no legal age for adoption and legally adopted her younger siblings off of her mother so they were able to benefit from being dependents of her.
TRAVELING WITH WAR (2012-2015)
During her time in the air force, she was stationed in various placed, but she often talks about her time in Osan, South Korea. It was a time for her to truly get in touch with her culture as well as show a different side of herself to her buddies at the time.
Other notable stations were Landstuhl, Germany and Misawa City, Japan. She worked her way up the ranks by minimizing her social interactions and showing that she was there for one purpose and one purpose only.
Sadly, due to this, she never made any close friends while in the Air Force during her younger years. She can barely recall anything that wasn’t solely about working hard and proving something to herself as well as those around her.
RETURN TO ROSWELL (2015-PRESENT)
Upon returning to Roswell, she realized how much she missed traveling and actually actively protecting the country she grew up in.
Her siblings now fully live in her home while her mother remains across the street. They often take turns spending the night with her.
Her personality is still cold, icy and an acquired taste for money, but she’s a much nicer person than she was as a teen and young adult.
