Nayeon was so glad today that she only had class. She wasn’t working in the bookstore (which she did love but it wasn’t her real passion) and she wasn’t on shift as a nurse until later on in the week. It left her with not that much to do, she was still trying to work out her classes for next week so maybe she should book an appointment with an advisor - she also needed to fill in some paperwork about her specialism. She couldn’t wait to graduate and change the lives of children. But she was still being moved around and she was sure that next week she was in the ER.

She noticed a boy looking pretty lost on campus and she turned to walk over. She’d once been the new kid who didn’t know their way around, so she resolved she was going to help him and become his friend. “Hey there.” She said with a bright smile. “I’m Nayeon, are you lost? The schools kinda big.”

“Again?”  

Eunwoo’s eyes lost its usual twinkle of purity as anger and annoyance engulfed his flesh whole. The university was much too large and vast to explore without someone accompanying him, and the thought just seemed to pick at his emotions even more. Being the new kid was much harder than Eunwoo had expected it to be.

“Hm?” A small voice called out to him, sparking hope and curiosity in the pit of his stomach. Eunwoo’s face arose to find a figure a few centimeters shorter than him approach him. “Yes. And exactly. Why did they make it so hard to navigate?” Sighing, he poured his bubbled thoughts inside of him out to her as he met her eyes with a grin.

“I’m Eunwoo.” Bowing slightly, he arose with a new glimmer in his eyes. “Can you take me to my next class? It’s. . .” Eunwoo’s eyes met with his schedule again. “Chemistry.”

“Out of all the things I could’ve left behind in Baltimore, it just happened to be the Percy Jackson series.” Eunwoo sighed as he slid the last box he had to unpack across his living room floor. It was already a pain in the ass to have to replant his herb garden; he truly didn’t have the energy to buy the materials at the moment.

Inhaling the scent of chamomile tea, he exhaled in a dramatic manner before picking himself up from the hardwood planks beneath him. Eunwoo might as well do something productive before scurrying to his new university. Pacing towards his front door, he dusted off his designer top. Considering everything I own looks like it cost a fortune, I’ve got to buy clothes that are… less pricey. Sighing at the thought, he slid out of his apartment and set out for a bookstore.

“There!” he whispered in excitement, rushing towards the front door. And then a realization hit him: he’s never been inside a bookstore.

Surely there are workers that could lend me a hand… Eunwoo’s eyes skipped back and forth, attempting to locate a worker. Spotting a certain purple-haired figure, he poked her shoulder. “Excuse me, could you help me locate a book series?”

Yuki wandered around the bookstore, making sure that all the books that were sitting nicely on the shelves. After all people who come to bookstores, still treat it like a normal retail place. Leaving their books in the wrong places. Messing up the stack of books that were organized in a certain way. 

As she was fixing up the shelves, she began humming along with the song that was playing throughout the store. At least it was a slow day…kind of. As much as she loved working in a bookstore, dealing with customers can take a lot out of you. With all their complaints and not knowing the actual title of the book they’re trying to get. Hearing someone call out to her, she looked over to them, titling her head to the side. “Hm? Which book series is it?”

The dyed hair outlined her figure, and her eyes popped with her circular glasses. The look encouraged Eunwoo’s uprising love for the nerdy style. The music in the background was soon blocked out of his ear’s radius. He was convinced it was simply unnecessary background noise.

Eunwoo grinned, and responded, “Only the most astonishing book series ever made.” His eyes formed crescent moons, and his smiled brightened at her expression. “If you couldn’t guess, it’s the Percy Jackson series. I accidentally left the books in my old apartment before moving here.”

Confidence bubbled in his stomach, and he began taking the initiative of the conversation. She didn’t very much seem like a big talker, anyways. “So what’s your favorite book series? I’m sure you’ve been acquainted with a few while working here.”

A little box, purple wrapping paper with bats and a little note that says “Happy Halloween!” on your door calls your attention.

Eunwoo would be lying if he said he wasn’t hyped for Halloween. His apartment room was decorated from head to toe with tiny ghouls, horror manga, Halloween contraptions, black and orange, and of course, bundles of candy. Does anyone even trick or treat in Mount Phoenix? He shrugged at the thought. Might as well give it away. I don’t have anything better to do with papa’s money.

As his feet landed on the demi-gods level of the complex, Eunwoo’s eyes spotted a small present in the form of a box placed on his doormat. He reached room 1 in a bubbly manner, his stomach churning with excitement. 

Entering his apartment, he impatiently tore through the wrapping paper and his eyes lit up at the choice of present. A pumpkin.

to wheein, her job didn’t feel like work ━ not when she was surrounded by the thrumming energy of flora, air thick with the scent of damp soil and musky roots. it was complete heaven for her, looking not unlike her own apartment. she didn’t have many other coworkers in the greenhouse other than airmid ( she still wasn’t over that ), but the girl didn’t mind. it was calming to simply tend to her children and care for their growth until they grew into perfect little sprouts. wheein’s knowledge of chemistry was limited to the classes she took in university, and even then, she had a hard time paying attention. fortunately, that’s not what she was hired for.

her usual garb consisted of old and definitely worn in overalls thrown over a brightly colored t-shirt, wide-brimmed yellow sun hat that shielded her eyes from the sometimes harsh light, and of course, her coveted pink crocs. it was a distinct difference from the other workers in the labs, who wore crisp white lab coats, full of sharp edges and harsh colors. thankfully, no one mentioned much about her outfits, and wheein was left to work in peace.

she was murmuring soothing words to her blueberries, gently encouraging to send forth berries that burst with sweet juice. her back was bent, eye-level with the plant and speaking as if it was an actual human; to her, all plants had their own souls, and wheein had a special knack for staying in tune with their energy. her lips formed a bright grin as the blueberry’s aura shifted, satisfied with her work. wheein straightened her back, adjusting the sun hat and stretching out just the slightest. 

it wasn’t for a few moments before wheein noticed a new companion in her greenhouse, eyebrows raising up in surprise. ❝ oh! ❞ she turned to face him, waving cheerfully. ❝ didn’t expect to see anyone here. ❞ giggling, wheein brushed away a strand of messy blonde hair, tucking it behind her ear. ❝ who are you? ❞

I feel like she’s more of the plant whisperer of Fluer Labs than a worker in the greenhouse. Eunwoo’s eyes skimmed over the worker, and he suddenly felt that his outfit wasn’t a bad choice considering the employee’s choice of overalls and a t-shirt. I might be able to pass off as a worker here…

As the worker leaned back from the blueberries, Eunwoo mustered all of the confidence and horrid acting skills he could. Silence painted the scene as he stood like a plank, awaiting the worker’s next moves. However, his attention span that day minimized to a speck of dust, and his brown orbs caught sight of his favorite herb: basil. His nostrils longed to catch a whiff of the plant’s perfume. Yet a voice snapped Eunwoo’s train of thoughts, and he was then left to a heap of embarrassment.

His eyes connected gazes with hers, her eyes screaming trustworthy in his eardrums. A bold sense of self-esteem engulfed him whole, and as she asked about his identity, he replied,”I’m Eunwoo Moretti, official flower child of Panacea and the herb master.“ A cocky grin spread across Eunwoo’s face. ”And you are?“

Honorifics were smothered out of Eunwoo’s dialogue, and to be honest, he was pretty sure he made a horrible first impression if she was older than him.

Light’s Absence||Airmid&Eun.

The variety of herbs in such a small building awed Eunwoo. He had no regrets now that he had witnessed the glory that Miach had to offer. The owner was truly impressive to gather even some of the rarest herbs he had ever encountered (in books or from dreams, of course). 

“Oh, my...” Eunwoo’s mouth formed into a perfect oval shape, his eyes fixated on a certain bunch of yellow flowers. “Is that Snowdonia Hawkweed? I’ve never seen it in real life...” It’s supposed to be extinct, anyways. Pacing his feet towards the flowers, he inspected the rectangle-like petals. From what he’s been told, even this small batch of the plant was rare around the 1950′s, when it was proclaimed to be extinct. It must cost a fortune. 

Frowning, Eunwoo contemplated whether he should purchase the plants when the building faded to darkness. Scratch that, the entire city faded to darkness. No no no no no, darkness is bad. Darkness is bad. Abort mission! Panic flooded Eunwoo’s body, his focus solely on getting seated. Trudging towards the seating area, he collided into a figure slightly shorter than himself. 

In the most secure voice he could muster, Eunwoo said,”I’m so sorry!”

A yawn escaped from Eunwoo’s lips, boredom sprouting in his current set of emotions. At first, he thought that his class tour of Fluer Labs would be fun and exciting. Now it just seemed extremely... uninteresting. Should have known. I’ve never liked chemistry. He nearly scoffed at the thought.

“And here we have the greenhouse, home to the plants and herbs that the scientists use for their experiments,” his teacher explained, Eunwoo’s eyes darting towards the glass building. Finally, something he wasn’t completely clueless to. As his class trudged onto the next exhibit, Eunwoo slickly slipped out of the knitted group of students to explore the greenhouse. 

His eyes flickered from side to side, inspecting his surroundings, before entering the building. Greenery spread across his vision, and he loved it. The scent of soil and mixed herbs, the sound of water trickling, and the sight of the variety of plants engulfed Eunwoo. Navigating his way around the vegetation, he spotted a worker tending to blueberries.

DEFINING FEATURES:

+ Several scars rest on his arms and legs, ranging from burns, scrapes, and cuts that were all self-inflicted.

+ If you catch a whiff of his scent, he smells like a mix of many herbs.

+ One tattoo right under his collarbone that he received after discovering his heritage (”It hurt like hell; I’m never getting a tattoo again. Ever.”)

+ Eunwoo’s eyes are a bright emerald colour, and shine brightly under the sun’s rays.

PERSONALITY: Eunwoo probably has the thickest skull you’ll ever encounter. It’s not that he’s close-minded. He’s just a little too... independent and fierce. 

He’s a very genuine and optimistic person once you get to know him, yet he bubbles all of that passion and charisma deep inside of him. While he’s not very open, he’s not shy in the slightest. He’s easy to understand, but not very much so easy to work with. The position of leader usually rests in his mind, whilst another side of him prefers independence and freedom. 

Eunwoo is extremely prideful in what he does and is another component of his constant stubborn actions. However, he tends to wear himself out by overworking himself, as he expects a lot from himself. 

HISTORY: Never in Eunwoo’s life did he and his father ever “settle down” in one place. The closest they had gone to staying longer than 2 years was in his hometown, Riposto, Italy, but they left soon after his mother had disappeared. 

So Eunwoo spent the majority of his childhood in a solitary bubble, ranging from a little to no human contact. The only people he would open up to were his teachers and his father, but communication between them was minimum, as his father was busy as a general in the military. In the end, the only way he could truly speak his mind was to plants. Now I know that sounds cheesy, but it was true. 

Over the years, he began to grow fond of the many herbs, plants, and spices the world had to offer. As he began researching the vast amount of information about them, his knowledge soon grew beyond those books and internet blogs. In fact, he began discovering more and more about these substances that scientists hadn’t even recorded before. 

That burning passion in his throat for plants and herbs grew into a lustful flame; it was at age 13 that he began “experimenting” these herbs on himself. Eunwoo would cut and scrape his skin, slicing it hard enough to be able to “test out” their abilities. What he didn’t realize, however, was the depression sprouting in his brain as he continued the constant process of loneliness and self-harm. 

It was finally when his father was killed in the military that he snapped. Eating became less important than griefing and less important than his herbs. A few months after his father’s death, he received a letter. It had been written by his father and had leaked his mother’s true identity and where to find her. So he set off to Mount Phoenix, intent on greeting his mother with either a big hug or a kick in the shin.
