Busenfreunde (German) — a word that literally translates to “bosom-friends.” Refers to friends that are so close to one another that they feel like they’re a part of each other’s chests
— SUMMARY. Y/N and Hyunjin have been inseparable since they were little kids. He’s always been her best friend, her protector, and the person she trusts most in this world. But somewhere along the way, amidst the late-night rides, the lingering touches, and unspoken promises, she fell hopelessly in love with him. Convinced he doesn’t feel the same way, she’s kept her feelings hidden from him for years, perfectly content with loving him silently, until she wasn’t.
Cocky, emotionally guarded, and just a little too arrogant for his own good, Hyunjin has earned a reputation as the university’s notorious fuckboy. With tattoos, emotional baggage, and enough family money to buy his way out of almost anything, he has no shortage of girls willing to throw themselves at him. But somehow, the one girl he’s never allowed himself to have is Y/N. And this year, she decides she’s going to change that.
OR, in which Hyunjin is the worst possible person to fall in love with, but Y/N has never been particularly good at knowing any better.

ᝰ TWELVE | SERIES M.LIST
Sehnsucht (German) — a term for the inconsolable longing in the human heart for what we know not
AUGUST, 2026.
August came quietly.
Y/N almost didn’t notice it at first. The summer had blurred together so badly that the dates on her phone had started feeling arbitrary. May had been Florence, June and July had supposed to be freedom. August was apparently now here, which meant the time she’d given herself to rest was over.
Yet, she had nothing to show for it. Her tan was long gone, there were no stacks of books she’d meant to read, no sense of having actually rested—just a suitcase she’d never fully unpacked because some part of her had convinced herself that she would end up going back.
Three months. It had been three months since she’d sat outside her hotel in Florence in Hyunjin’s car, crying in the oversized hoodie he had given her so she wouldn’t be cold. Three months since she’d made the worst decision of her life. Three months since she’d realized she wanted him, but had no way to tell him.
She’s tried everything that first week. She’d search his username on Instagram every single day as though the result might change if she checked it enough times. She’d restart the application, and then check again, but it was always still the same—blocked.
She’d asked Kat if she thought she could reach out to Hyunjin through Chan, but that was quickly shut down.
“He needs space.” Kat had said gently. “You both do.”
Y/N knows that, but that selfish part of her wanted to reach out, anyway.
She’d stayed home the rest of the summer, told her family and the few friends she had that she was taking the entire summer to herself. To everyone else, it sounded healthy, responsible, like she was intentionally taking time off after a demanding year. But the truth was uglier. Much uglier.
Y/N spent most mornings waking up with a heavy feeling in her chest that didn’t lift until she was distracted enough to forget about it. But then there’d be that one moment of silence, and then she’d remember. Sometimes, it came to her while she was brushing her teeth. Other times, it’d be when she caught herself reaching for her phone to tell him she missed him.
And she did miss him. She missed how he touched her like he owned her, how he laughed at something stupid he’d said, how he’d always take care of her even when she knows she didn’t deserve it. She missed him.
She missed him so much that she eventually found herself going down a rabbit hole on Stray Kids. She watched music videos, fan-cams, interviews—anything to help mend that piece of her heart that ripped in half when she walked away from him. At one point, she thought about re-activating her Bubble subscription just so she could see if he was active, just so she could hear from him and know he was okay. But she convinced herself that was unhealthy behavior, and she spent the rest of that night crying in her bed until she eventually passed out from complete exhaustion.
That was how her nights went for the first month. A constant loop of regret and broken silence.
She’d often wonder if he ever thought about her. Did he hate her? Did he move on? Did he regret everything that happened between them? He must have, otherwise he wouldn’t have blocked her and shut out the only form of contact she had with him, and that thought kills her.
She hates herself for making him feel that way. Absolutely hates herself.
One long month quickly turned into three, and Y/N thought that this would be her new life. It was a constant, at this point—wake up, wallow in her self-pity, deep-dive on social media, lay in bed all day, overthink every single life decision she’s ever made, wallow some more in her self-pity, shower on a good day, skip dinner, cry until she falls asleep, and repeat.
It’s become a norm for her. She doesn’t even remember the last time she’s left the house other than to pick up her medicine or get groceries that she barely ate to begin with. She hasn’t used her gym membership in months, hasn’t went out with her work friends, hasn’t gotten her nails done or gotten any form of self care that she swears by. She did go on a short walk yesterday with Kat, because she was practically forced to, so at least she is starting to try. She’s just so deep in this flunk of regret and longing that’s quite literally eating her from the inside out.
Y/N knows this is unhealthy behavior. The medical professional in her knows this. She knows she needs to move on, accept things how they ended, and get on with her life. Her and Hyunjin weren’t in a relationship. She shouldn’t be acting like this over someone she’s only known for such a short amount of time. She needs to suck it up and get over it. He clearly has, so she should do the same.
Which is why, right now, she’s currently doing something she hasn’t done in months—run.
Each hurried step of her feet cause another rush of adrenaline to run through her veins. Her mouth is dry, her back is pouring with sweat, and her legs are burning a little, but it feels good. It feels normal.
She has her Air Pods in, one of her workout playlists consisting of up-beat One Direction and rap songs from 2016 blaring loudly in her ears. She can feel the loud thump of her heart in her chest with every breath she exhales, and she’s this close to falling over on the sidewalk, but she likes it. It reminds her that she’s still alive and she’s still here.
Kat normally joins her on her daily runs, and she typically goes in the evening or at night when it’s not as hot and the park isn’t as crowded, but she needed this. Kat’s at work right now, and Y/N knew that if she didn’t go now, she probably wouldn’t go later.
She glances down at her Apple Watch, seeing that she’s finally made it to three miles. Granted, it took her almost an hour to get there, but she made it, and that’s all that matters. She lets out a loud breath of air, jogging over towards the grass and away from the sidewalk. She feels like she’s dying, the sun is hot and blaring on her skin, but at least she pushed herself to run three miles today.
She takes a seat on one of the benches nearby, tightening the pony tail on the her head from where it loosened up during her run, eyes dancing across the park. Central Park is always her go-to place whenever she wanted to go for a quick run or just needed to clear her head. She could sit here for hours just people watching and basking in the scenery. It’s one of her favorite things to do, especially during the fall time when the leaves change colors and paint everything in yellows and oranges.
Y/N wonders for a second if Hyunjin had ever been to Central Park before. She’s certain he’d love it, especially with it slowly transitioning to fall. Fall is his favorite season, just as it’s hers.
She can picture him perfectly, sitting beside her on this bench. Y/N would take him to Liberty Bagels first, where he could grab him a bagel with extra cream cheese and bacon, and then take him down the street to get some coffee. They would sit here, in this exact spot, eating their bagels and drinking their coffee, watching the leaves change colors. He’d probably bring his sketch book and end up drawing. Would he draw the city scape, or would he focus on the trees?
Y/N doesn’t realize her vision is starting to blur until her phone starts vibrating on her lap, knocking her out of her thoughts. She sniffles, wiping her eyes with the back of her hands before picking her phone up, seeing that Kat is calling her.
“Hey,” She breathes through the phone, trying to swallow down the lump in her throat, “Aren’t you at work? Everything okay?”
“Where are you?”
“I’m at Central Park. I just finished running,” Y/N blinks, a little taken aback by the slight panic in Kat’s voice, “Why? Is something wrong?”
“Are you about to head home?”
“I mean, I can,” Y/N replies, heart rate increasing with every word she says, “Are you going to tell me why you sound all weird? What’s going on?”
“Okay,” Kat sighs, sounding like she’s trying to choose her words carefully, “Okay… don’t freak out.”
Her stomach drops instantly, and she’s standing up and speed-walking back through the park before she can think anything of it, “What do you mean don’t freak out? Why would you say that?”
“Sorry, sorry,” Kat replies quickly, the sound of a car door slamming shut ringing through her ears, “That was probably a bad thing to say. I just… are you going home?”
“Well, yeah, I’m heading back, because you’re starting to freak me out,” Y/N pushes her way through a couple people, “Can you tell me what the fuck is going on and why you’re being so weird?”
“I think you should get home first—“
“Kat,” Y/N interrupts her sharply, feeling her pulse pounding violently in her ears, “You starting a conversation telling me not to freak out is obviously going to freak me out! Please, just tell me what’s going on!”
A shaky breath travels through the phone, and it does nothing to lessen the sick unease traveling through her body. The brief silence over the line causes her to move even faster, her legs burning violently with each step.
“There’s something online.”
She comes to an abrupt stop, her hand tightly gripping her phone, “What… what kind of something?”
“I don’t know how to explain it without making you panic.”
“Then stop beating around the bush and just tell me!”
It’s quiet for a second, and Y/N’s brain instantly goes to a dark place—accidents, traumas, death. She’d worked in the ER long enough to pick up this tone, had been in conversations between physicians and patient families telling them their loved one didn’t make it. Is it her family? Are they okay? Is it Hyunjin?
What the fuck is going on?
“It’s the pictures, Y/N,” Kat finally spits the words out, and Y/N feels her heart drop into her ass, “It’s pictures… of you and Hyunjin. Someone leaked pictures of you and Hyunjin in the elevator.”
Y/N stops breathing. For a second, she couldn’t process the words, half blaming it on being delirious from the lack of sleep she’s been getting lately and from the post-run brain fog. But then Kat’s speaking again, and reality crashes back into her at full force.
“T-the elevator?” She stutters out, interrupting Kat’s short rant.
“Yes. The elevator.”
Oh fuck.
Ohfuckohfuckohfuck.
“Did you see them?” Y/N asks, picking up her pace and quite literally zooming through the park. Why is it taking so long for her to get back to her place? She lives right by here!
“Yeah, I did,” Kat replies guiltily, and Y/N feels like she’s about to pass out.
The vivid memory of Y/N on her knees while Hyunjin fucked her face against the wall instantly comes to her mind. She was fully clothed, but Hyunjin’s dick was obviously out, and that only heightens to her brewing anxiety.
Did pictures of his dick get leaked to the entire world? All because she couldn’t wait one more minute until they had gotten safely into his hotel room?
This is all her fault. All her fault.
“What… what exactly were the pictures?” Her voice breaks as she keeps moving forward. Her and Kat’s apartment complex finally come into view, and she releases a sigh of relief as she books it into the building and heads towards the elevators.
“It wasn’t bad. It was just you two devouring each other against the wall,” She responds lightly, and Y/N winces at her choice of words, “Okay, I could’ve said that better, I’m sorry. You could definitely tell that it was him, but your face is pretty blurry. I wouldn’t have known it was you if I didn’t already know you were with him.”
“So you couldn’t see anything?”
“No. Just him swallowing your face,” Kat replies, sounding almost as out of breath as she is.
Y/N sighs in relief. Thank god his dick didn’t get leaked. She’s more relieved by that than anything else.
“So you can definitely tell it’s him? But not me?” She asks once the elevator doors close, taking her up to her floor.
“Yeah. There’s no mistaking that it’s Hwang Hyunjin. Way too fucking obvious.”
“Fuck,” She runs a hand through the top of her hair, messing up the ponytail she fixed earlier. What has she done? “Does it look bad? Is he okay?”
The elevator doors open, and Y/N basically sprints towards her apartment door and straight towards Kat, who’s currently standing at her door looking like she’d just witnessed a murder.
“I left work as soon as I saw them,” Kat breathes out loudly, throwing her phone into her work bag. She helps her unlock her front door, Y/N’s hands shaking dramatically, and once they both stumble inside, Kat’s shutting the door and slinging all her stuff onto the floor.
“Is Hyunjin okay?” Y/N asks again, more urgently. Her entire body feels like it’s overheating and she feels like she’s about to pass out on her floor, “This happened three months ago! Why are they getting leaked now? How did that even happen?”
Really, it makes zero sense. If someone had gotten pictures of them together, wouldn’t they have already posted it? And how did she not realize that there were cameras in the elevator?
Kat notices her panic, because she always does, “Okay, okay, okay. You need to sit down and drink some water before you actually pass out.”
She’s quickly leading her to the couch, and not even ten seconds later, she’s back right by her side with a water bottle she took from her fridge.
“Kat, is Hyunjin okay?”
“Drink,” Kat’s voice is stern as she shoves the water bottle in her face. Y/N glares at her, but ends up taking a couple long sips anyway. The cool water feels so nice running down her throat, but she’s not able to mask in that feeling too much before she’s shoving it on the empty spot beside her on the couch.
“Can you please answer my question now? Is Hyunjin okay?”
“I don’t know, Y/N,” Kat replies, frantically typing on her phone. Y/N tries to peak at what she’s doing.
“Can you find out? Is that Chan? Can you ask him?” She feels like she’s going to die if she doesn’t figure out if Hyunjin’s okay.
“Yes, I’m… I’m texting him now.”
Y/N nods, pressure building deep inside her chest. Before she can even think about it, she’s pulling her phone back out, desperately trying to steady the slight shake in her hands and control her breathing so she doesn’t end up hyperventilating. She’s in the middle of searching up “hwang hyunjin elevator incident” on Google when Kat’s voice startles her.
“Don’t look it up!”
“What?” Y/N replies, a little annoyed and very on edge, “Why are you telling me about it then if you don’t want me to look it up? I need to see it!”
“No, trust me, Y/N, you don’t want to see it,” Kat tries to grab her phone out of Y/N’s grip, but she’s quick to pull her arms back. Kat’s eyes are wide, pleading, and it only makes the pressure in her chest heavier.
“I just wanted you to hear it from me. But please, please, don’t look it up.”
“I need to see it and know what people are saying, Kat.”
“Y/N, listen to me,” Kat begs, softly grabbing ahold of her arms and pulling her towards her, “People are being horrible. They’re saying such… awful things, okay? I dont want you to see that. Please, just listen to me.”
Y/N knows she should listen to her, but she doesn’t. She’s quickly standing up, holding her phone away from Kat and in front of her face. The page loads just as quickly as she presses search. The results appear almost instantly, thousands and thousands of posts popping up. There were headlines, posts, threads, screenshots, speculation. It was so much that she immediately feels overwhelmed.
Her breath hitches in her throat when she clicks on the pictures. One of them is when Hyunjin had her cornered at the wall in the elevator, his hands all over her body. The other is of them caught in a heavy make-out session, both of them all over each other. His face was tilted as he kissed her deeply, his hands holding her possessively. And the last one is of them stumbling in the hallway towards his hotel room, his hands on her ass as he leads them towards the door. There’s no mistaking what they were about to do.
Then there were the comments. Thousands of comments.
Y/N shouldn’t read them. But once she starts, she just can’t stop.
Who is this bitch, and why is she all over my man???
How did he end up with THAT????
That dress is way too pretty to be on someone that fat lmao
Wait, wasn’t he just with that French model???
There’s comments about her weight, about her body, about her appearance. There’s people calling her names, making crude jokes about her, saying she was embarrassing. And they just keep going on and on and on.
“Y/N?” Kat’s voice sounds completely distant, the ringing in her ears growing louder with each comment she reads. Her chest feels tight, her vision blurs religiously, and before she even realizes what’s even happening, hot tears are flowing down her cheeks.
“Y/N…” Kat’s voice is closer now, gentle, “Let me… give me the phone. Please.”
She stares at one particularly cruel comment until the letters became indistinguishable, and then she’s numbly handing her phone over. Her legs feel weak, her entire body is shaking, and she’s falling down to the floor before can even attempt to hold herself up. The words keep replaying over and over in her head until it’s the only thing she can think of.
Disgusting. Desperate. Whore.
Why are people so cruel?
“Hey,” Kat’s voice is soft, familiar, like she already knew what was going through her head. She pulls her into her body, and Y/N’s clinging to her like it’s her lifeline. “You’re okay. It’s going to be okay.”
“I… I didn’t think…” Y/N trails off, trying to control her tears that just kept falling, “I didn’t think they’d…”
“I know, babe. I know. They’re just fucking idiots. All of them.”
“What about him?” Y/N’s voice cracks, thoughts of Hyunjin flooding her mind, “Is he… is Hyunjin okay?” God, she doesn’t know what she’d do if this somehow ruined every ounce of self progress he’s made.
“Can you check and see if he replied?” Y/N asks again, feeling like complete shit, “Please? Please just find out if he’s… if he’s okay. I need to know if he’s okay, Kat.”
“Yeah, I’ll check. I got it,” She tightens her grip on her body once more before pulling away completely. Her tears are still flowing down her cheeks, her throat hurts, and she feels like she’s sinking deeper and deeper into that place she was trying to get out of.
“He replied,” Kat’s voice causes her to jump slightly, and she’s crawling over to where Kat’s slouched back against the couch to glance down at her phone. Her eyes trail over the messages desperately.
Kat: hey… can you tell me if hyunjin’s okay? y/n needs to know
Chan: Physically, he’s fine. Mentally, eh.
Chan: He’ll be okay. We’re handling it
Chan: Pictures should be completely wiped within the next five minutes. I’ll keep you updated. After that, it’ll eventually die down. Not the first time this has happened with us
Chan: Don’t let her worry about him. I’ve got him.
“Handling it?” Y/N re-reads the texts frantically, feeling like her eyes are about to pop out of her skull, “What… what does that mean? What does that mean for Hyunjin?”
All she could think about was if Hyunjin was okay—if the allegations hurt him, if his company blamed him, if they punished him, if he thought about her even just a little while everything was happening. And suddenly, she feels sick to her stomach, because this is all her fault.
“I don’t… I don’t know, Y/N,” Kat replies gently, biting her bottom lip as she glances at her phone. She looks up at her, “You just need to focus on yourself right now, okay? They said they’re handling it, so it’s all going to be fine. Just… breathe. You’re gonna be okay, I promise.”
How can she focus on herself, when Hyunjin’s all she can think about?
Kat’s pulling her back into a hug before Y/N can say anything, tightening her grip around her body as she instructs her to breathe. They sit like that for a moment, and eventually, the tears stop, but the deep ache in her chest remains. It’s always there.
“Don’t look anymore, okay?” Kat mumbles quietly, “Don’t look it up. Don’t read anymore comments. Just leave it alone.”
“I will.” Her voice barely comes out in a whisper.
“You promise?”
“I promise.”
It was a lie. But she couldn’t bring herself to say anything else.
By the time Y/N finishes giving report to the night shift PA, the ER had settled into that strange rhythm that came with the late evening. The daytime rush had thinned, leaving behind the steady beeping of monitors, the occasional page, and the shuffle of nurses moving in between rooms.
She sniffles, rubbing the bridge of her nose as she glances at her Apple Watch to check the time. It’s just after eight pm, and she quite literally feels like she’s close to passing out on this dirty floor at the doctor’s station. Report had taken longer than usual, and they had just stabilized a gunshot wound to the abdomen enough to go into surgery, and she’s fucking exhausted.
Not only that, but she’s been paranoid and very, very on edge.
It’s been three days since the pictures got leaked online. True to Chan’s word, they were completely wiped from the internet shortly after they were posted. Links disappeared, posts were removed, but she knew better than to think that meant they were gone. The internet never really forgets, after all.
Every time she catches someone staring at her a little too closely, her nerve endings fire and her mind instantly goes to that dark place. Does someone recognize her? Is it the same person who degraded her numerous times online? She’s done well with separating her personal life from her work life and her patients, but whenever she gets a break and is able to take a few minutes to herself, to think back on that person who looked at her a little too long, that crippling feeling comes back ten times worse.
She admits she looked Hyunjin’s name up more times than she should. A lot of the posts were just speculation on who he was with, and if he was no longer single. The hate wasn’t directed at him—it was never directed at him. The hate was on her.
Even after three days, the posts kept popping up. People were still talking. And really, Y/N should have known that it wouldn’t completely die down in just three short days, but that didn’t stop her from hoping it would, anyway. She doesn’t regret being with him in that elevator, but she does regret not being with him.
Italy had followed her home in ways she hadn’t expected. She could still smell the ocean when she closed her eyes, still remember the warmth of Florence at night, still remember Hyunjin sketching her at that tiny café without telling her. And now, apparently, she couldn’t even think about him without worrying about whether the entire world was thinking about him too.
She slings her work bag over her shoulder, grabbing ahold of her water bottle before heading towards the employee exit. Her feet feel heavy, and her body just doesn’t feel like it’s hers. She’s been wearing one of her baggy, oversized jackets over her scrubs every shift in attempts to hide her body more. She wears a face mask at all times so people can’t look at how puffy her face is. She can’t even look at herself in the mirror anymore without seeing the comments.
She just feels so exhausted. Absolutely exhausted.
“Hey.”
Her feet come to a stop as she turns the corner, glancing up to see Minho leaning against the wall near the doors. He’s still wearing his scrubs, his backpack is slung across his shoulder, and he looks as if he’s been waiting for a while.
“Oh. Hey,” She says dumbly, instinctively pulling her jacket tighter across her torso. His gaze is dark, his eyes quickly raking over her entire body before focusing back on her face, offering her a small smile.
“You sick or something?” He gestures to the face mask she’s still wearing.
“Y-yeah. A little,” She lies, avoiding his gaze as she walks closer towards the doors. He follows her, because of course he does.
“What’s wrong?”
“Just a head cold, I think. Nothing too bad.”
He hums lowly, and Y/N gets a strong whiff of his cologne. In the past, she used to like how he smelled, of fresh cedar and pine. But now, it just feels suffocating. It feels heavy and unfamiliar.
“So I guess this means you won’t be coming over tonight?” He asks with a hint of a smirk on his lips.
Y/N glances over at him briefly, seeing that he’s already staring at her expectantly. “No. Sorry.”
She’s been regularly hooking up with Minho the past couple of months. They had been friends first, until they both got a little tipsy after a night out with their co-workers and ended up sleeping together. Ever since then, they’ve just kind of fell into a routine, using each other to get off whenever they both need to fulfill their urges. Sex with Minho was good, but it was missing the connection. It didn’t even come close to how she felt with Hyunjin. She hasn’t slept with Minho since Italy. And honestly, she doesn’t even want to. He just isn’t Hyunjin.
She honestly hasn’t even thought about another man since she saw him again. The thought of another man touching her and kissing her just doesn’t sit right with her and makes her skin crawl in the worst way.
Hyunjin’s ruined everyone for her, and he doesn’t even realize it.
“Well, if you ever change your mind, let me know,” He nods his head, holding the door open for her as they walk outside, “I’m glad your trip went well, though. The pictures you posted looked sick.”
“Yeah, it was fun. Too short, honestly.” She replies, cursing to herself once she realizes it’s currently raining. Great.
Minho takes out an umbrella from his bag, quickly opening it and holding it over both of their heads. “Luckily for you, I came prepared. You didn’t check the radar?”
“Uh, no,” Y/N replies, pulling the face mask up from where it slipped a little, “Why would I check the radar?”
“So you know when to bring an umbrella.”
Y/N rolls her eyes, elbowing him in the side. “You taking the subway?” He asks, louder now that the rain is starting to pick up.
“Yeah,” She replies, and he nods, flicking his head over towards their right.
“I’ll walk you.”
“You don’t have to do that, Minho.”
It’d be better if he doesn’t, as it will only make her feel even worse than she already does. But knowing Minho, he doesn’t like to take no for answer, especially when it comes to his friends.
“I know I don’t have to, but I’m going to. Also, you’ll get soaking wet if I don’t come with you.”
Y/N sighs, eventually letting him lead her down the stairs of the hospital and towards the crosswalk. I guess it would be nice to not have to ride the subway soaking wet.
She couldn’t help but think back to Hyunjin. Every few minutes, she finds herself wondering what was happening on the other side of the world. Did he see the comments about her? Did he agree with them? Did his manager completely freak out on him? Is he embarrassed? Angry? Hurt?
God, it’s driving her to insanity. Not being able to reach out to him herself just to see how he’s handling everything is eating her alive. Chan’s been keeping Kat updated, and he makes it seem like everything’s fine, but what if it’s not? What if this just pushed Hyunjin back into that dark place he’s been trying so hard to break free from?
They’d just stopped at the crosswalk, the pedestrian signal remaining red. Minho is still standing beside her, one hand holding the umbrella, the other tucked into his scrubs pocket. It doesn’t feel right standing here beside him when all she can even think about is him.
“You know, you don’t have to keep pretending you’re okay.”
Y/N blinks, turning her head to look at him. He’s already staring at her, in a way that tells her he just knows. “What are you talking about?”
“I can tell something’s been bothering you,” He replies quietly, smiling softly, and she tightens her hands around the jacket she’s wearing nervously. “One, you haven’t texted me back since before you left for Italy. Two, it’s pretty obvious you haven’t been yourself the past three days. And three, you know I can read you like a book. I’ve known you for three years, Y/N. We were friends before anything else. I can tell that you’re not okay.”
Y/N feels her mouth go dry, awkwardly taking a step away from his body. His eyes soften as he notices that, and he moves the umbrella so it’s shielding her completely, not even seeming phased that he’s now getting soaked from the rain.
She knows he’s waiting on a response, hoping she’d finally open up and tell him what’s wrong. But what is she supposed to say? How could she explain that she’d gone to Italy expecting to spend time alone and instead had fallen back into the arms of the one person she’d spent four years trying to forget? How could she explain that she had come home with more questions than answers? And how could she possibly explain that the pictures everyone seemed to still be talking about were of her?
She opens her mouth to reply, to attempt to say something that’s not entirely the truth. But before she could answer him, something across the street catches her attention.
It’s a person, standing on the opposite side of the street, beneath the awning of a closed storefront. There were people everywhere beneath the storefront awnings, desperately trying to escape the rain. Cars moved through the intersection, headlights reflecting off the wet pavement.
But this person isn’t moving. They’re standing completely still, just watching, waiting.
Y/N’s brows pull together as she focuses on them, a strong wave of familiarity brushing through her. They’re tall, dressed completely in black from head-to-toe, the hood of the hoodie pulled over a baseball cap. The black face mask they’re wearing hides majority of their identity, almost like they’re trying very deliberately not to be recognized.
Her entire body goes still, and suddenly, it’s becoming difficult for her to breathe.
“Y/N?” She hears Minho call her name ever so faintly, but she doesn’t reply. She can’t reply.
Her eyes stay fixated on the stranger in front of her, and her heart gives one, hard, painful beat. She looks away for a split second, shutting her eyes briefly, trying to control her breathing. She’s probably hallucinating. Her mind is exhausted, her body is deprived of energy, and she’s hallucinating. That has to be it.
When she opens her eyes again, the person is still there, and the heat of their gaze is strong enough to send her mind on overdrive.
Her eyes focus on the slight curve of their shoulders beneath the oversized hoodie. The way their standing with their weight resting heavily one leg. The way their hands disappeared into the pockets of the hoodie, like they didn’t know what to do with them. The way they tilted their head just slightly while they’re focusing on someone.
Four years ago, she’d learned his face through something other than a screen. In Italy, she’d learned the rest.
How he walked when he was tired. How he leaned against doorways with his arms crossed. How he tucked his hands into the sleeves of his sweaters or hoodies. How he goes quiet when he’s thinking, but once he starts voicing his thoughts out loud, he can’t seem to stop.
And even from across a rain-soaked street in the middle of New York City, even with his face almost completely hidden, she knew with painful clarity.
Summary: Your boyfriend thirst-trapping you, because he's thirsty as hell.
a/n: Sorry not sorry 🤭
Hyunjin has been in one of his moods today. That mood.
You were sprawled on the couch, scrolling through your phone (with a pout), pretending to be engrossed in a meme when really, you were hyper-aware of Hyunjin sulking across the room.
He has been at it all day - thirst-trapping you like it was his job. It had started with him accidentally stretching in those gray sweatpants, his perfect, round ass begging for attention. He was wearing a nice short sleeved button down shirt, flexing his lean muscles while pretending to organize his art supplies.
Yeah, because organizing paint brushes needed that much flexing. Of course.
And don’t even get started on the way he bit his lip when your eyes met, smirking at you. Oh don't even go there.
But you? You’ve been dodging him, playing it cool, giving him nothing but a raised eyebrow and a sarcastic, “Nice try, Hwang.”
It was driving him up the wall, and now he was full-on tantrum mode, standing by the coffee table, hands on his hips, sweatpants slung so low and his hair a sexy little mess.
“You’re mean,” he whined, tossing a balled-up napkin at you, which bounces off your forehead with pathetic flair. “I’ve been serving looks all day, and you’re just ignoring me?! Do you know how much effort it takes to look this hot?”
You snorted, not looking up from your phone. You had put up with this the whole damn day. Your heart pounded and your traitor of a body was reacting to every little thing he did. And he didn't even touch you. You were embarrassed to say the least. Especially since you two have been together for so long. He still made your heart flutter. And stutter. And all that.
“Oh, poor baby,” you mocked, smirking. “What’s next, a striptease? Gonna dance for me?”
His eyes narrowed, a pout forming, but there was a glint in them, and he stomped closer, dramatic as ever.
“You think I won’t?” he challenged, his hands going to the hem of his shirt, but you held your hands up quickly.
“Hyunjin, stop!” you said, earning a glare from him.
“Rude!” he huffed, but he was grinning now, and you didn't have a minute to react before you were swept off the couch into Hyunjin's strong arms - his grip strong but gentle.
“Hyune, omg!!” You squealed, you ams going around his neck.
“Admit it, you’re affected by my ass! I saw you staring earlier!” he accused, as he started walking toward the bedroom.
“Never!” you gasped, but his lips were set in a smoldering smirk, and you were glaring at him (trying your best not to let that smile break in). “Hyune, put me down please-”
He kicked the bedroom door open dramatically, as he walked inside. He paused at the foot of the bed, his gaze raking over you, and with a playful, dramatic flair and he dropped you onto the mattress, letting you bounce on the soft duvet.
You laughed, propping yourself on your elbows, one of the thin straps of your top slipping off your shoulder. Hyunjin stood at the foot of the bed, towering over you, his expression pure…sex. Lips parted, heavy-lidded eyes and the way he’s gazing at you - like a predator sizing up his prey. A very adorable predator.
And then he slowly started unbuttoning his shirt, each flick of his fingers slow and deliberate as he revealed inch after inch of smooth toned skin. The dimmed lights of the room made the moment even more intimate, the soft light falling on his chest and abs, making you press your thighs together, because this was…enticing to say the least.
He was all lean muscle, sharp angles, and such raw intensity. His desire, so visible through his low slung sweats, straining against the material.
“Like what you see?” he purred, voice dripping with confidence, letting the shirt slide off his shoulders, and he tossed it across the room, only for it to land on the lamp, dimming its soft golden glow to nothing.
“Oh, great, now we’re in the dark,” you said, and he cackled, crawling over to in the darkness, his hands groping blindly, falling on your face and shoulder before finding your breasts and squeezing them over your top, making you moan through your laughter.
“Found ‘em,” he said triumphantly, lowering himself over you.
“Fuck, you’re so hot,” you breathed (well, you can’t help being shameless when you have a boyfriend that hot), and he chuckled, low and sultry, before crashing his lips into yours. The kiss was deep and hungry, his tongue tangling with yours in the most erotic dance. His hands were everywhere - groping your breasts through your top and sliding under it to pinch your nipples, making you gasp into his mouth.
And your hands have a mind of their own, migrating right back to his ass, and - fuck, it was perfect, firm and round, and you can’t help but give it a playful squeeze, which made him yelp, his eyes wide, his laughter a mix of joy and a moan.
“Fuck, I need you-” He was tugging at your top now, but in the dark, everything was a fumble.
“Oh my god, I’m stuck!” you giggled, and Hyunjin laughed, his hands moving fast to help you.
“Hold still, you dork,” he said, finally yanking it off, your hair now a wild mess. You both collapsed into giggles, the intensity dissolving into pure, silly joy.
“Smooth, Hwang,” you teased, and he grinned, his eyes sparkling with mischief as he pinned your wrists above your head.
His body pressed against yours, his cock hard through his jeans, grinding against your core.
“I’ll show you smooth,” he said, tugging your shorts off you along with your panties.
You watch as he shed his sweats and boxers, his length finally springing free, and you couldn’t help but make a grab for it, making him yelp again.
“Hey, handsy!” he laughed, tackling you back onto the bed, kissing you sloppy and sweet, your legs wrapping around his waist. “Gonna fuck you so good.”
He kissed you through your giggles as he lined himself up, his tip brushing your slick pussy, making you both moan. He pushed in, slow at first, stretching you, and you both gasped, the giggles fading for a moment as the pleasure hit.
“Fuck, you feel amazing,” he groaned, thrusting fast enough to make you whimper. He slows down for a moment, making you whine, and then speeds up again. But then you were just so wet that he slipped out of you, and it was your turn to yelp because his tip slipped right up to your clit.
Hyunjin burst out laughing, and you glared at him playfully, your hands gripping his ass to guide him.
“Oh my god, Hyune, focus!” you said, and he nodded, burying his face in your neck, kissing and nipping as he started thrusting, sloppy but eager.
It was the giggliest sex ever - every thrust interrupted by a laugh, every moan turning into a snort as he tickled your side, or you bit his earlobe because he was being a gremlin.
“You’re the worst,” he said, but he was grinning, his thrusts growing faster, deeper, as you clenched around him. You were both a mess, laughing and moaning, the bed creaking under you.
“Gonna - fuck - gonna come,” you gasped, your laughter turning into a moan as he hits the spot, his fingers finding your clit, rubbing messy circles on it.
“Me too,” he panted,“Okay, okay, serious now,”
You shuddered as your orgasm hit you first, your pussy spasming, slick gushing around his cock. He followed, his thrusts turning sloppy, as he spilled inside you, his moans making you shiver.
He collapsed over you, a sweaty mess and kissing your forehead.
“That was ridiculous,” you said, booping his nose. “Making me suffer all day so you could do this?”
“Ridiculously perfect,” he corrected you, his face nuzzling into your chest, kissing your nipple softly.
“You and your stupid thirst traps,” you teased, and he looked up, his eyes sparkling.
“Worked, didn’t it?” he said, winking, and you both dissolved into giggles again, your bodies tangled, and his perfect ass still the star of the show.

You were just finishing putting some chocolate chip cookies on a plate, before placing it on the tray with two glasses of chocolate milk when your boyfriend startled you, his arms wrapping around you.
Hyunjin nuzzled his face in your neck and closed his eyes, a small blissful smile playing on his lips.
"I told you to wait in the living room." you pouted even though your body melted back into his. "You're ruining the surprise."
"My eyes are closed." he teased, smirking against the sensitive skin on the side of your neck. You wanted to protest but any time you found yourself in his arms, you became putty. The effect he had on you couldn't be ignored.
"You're something else." you smirked and shook your head, adding the last detail on the tray, a little vase with yellow flowers in it. "Did you prepare the blankets?"
"Mhm." Hyunjin sighed, nuzzling into your hair. He was getting impatient, all he wanted was to finally have you in his arms after an exhausting week of work, to steal as many moments alone with you as he could. But, he didn't whine at you, knowing you wanted to make this evening as perfect as it could be, he knew that the little details meant a lot to you.
"Go to the living room, Jinnie." you chuckled. "I'll be right there. And no peeking."
"Alright, alright. Walking away, eyes closed." he let go of you and raised his arms in surrender.
"Be care-"
"Ow!" it was already too late for your warnings as Hyunjin bumped into the furniture, making you snicker.
"Laugh while you can!" he yelled playfully from the living room and you kept chuckling to yourself, waiting for him to finally sit down on the couch. You grabbed the tray and carefully made your way to the living room, sneaking a glance at Hyunjin and checking if he still had his eyes closed like you had asked him.
You giggled, setting the tray on the coffee table and almost melting at the anticipation written in his face and body language.
"Can I open my eyes already?" he asked impatiently and you laughed, sitting down next to him.
"Yes, you can open your eyes." you said and Hyunjin blinked a few times, his eyes widening and a gasp leaving his lips before they curled into the sweetest smile.
"You drew a heart?" he asked cutely, you wanted to make his chocomilk even sweeter by drawing a heart on the surface with cocoa powder. "And the flowers, they're for me?"
"Of course they're for you, silly." you chuckled and he laughed, wrapping his arms around you and leaning his head on your shoulder.
"You're adorable, you know that? You really spoil me with so much love." he sighed happily, relaxing against you.
"I can't help it, I like doing these things for you." you giggled as you held him, holding your entire world in your arms.
"And never stop doing them, please." he nuzzled into your neck, closing his eyes for a moment as you reached over and threw the fluffy blanket over your bodies.
"I won't, I promise." you said as you got comfortable on the couch, grabbing the remote and pressing play.
One of your favorite cartoons, Powerpuff Girls started playing and Hyunjin let out a chuckle, delighted to see your happy face while watching it. At this moment, he really didn't care what was playing on the screen as long as he got to hold you and spend time with you, it was just one of those days where he had missed you and needed you close.
"Don't judge me." your cheeks heated up at the sound of his chuckle.
"I'm not, I think it's adorable." he poked your side, making you squirm for a moment.
"Just drink your milk." you teased him back and he mirrored the smirk that was playing on his face.
Hyunjin reached for his glass and drank the chocolate milk, looking absolutely adorable as you stared at him with hearts in your eyes. You couldn't believe that this was the same man who was so crazy desperate for you yesterday when you got home from work that he took you right there against the wall, next to the front door. A shiver ran down your spine as you remembered the events from last night, the way his hands gripped at your hips and the way he panted against your neck, whispering how good you feel and how much he loves you.
You drank your chocomilk quickly, both of you munching on the cookies as you commented on the cartoon playing on the tv. The living room filled with laughter as you enjoyed the peaceful evening with your boyfriend, feeling completely relaxed in his arms. Knowing that the weekend was coming around and that both of you had free time gave way to so many possibilities that involved resting and spending quality time together.
As it got later and Hyunjin's body became warmer all pressed against yours, your hand which was resting on his chest started sliding down to his abs. You caressed him absentmindedly, almost missing the way his breath hitched whenever you slid your hand a little lower, fingertips dipping under the blanket. Hyunjin was starting to have trouble concentrating on the tv as the images started to blur, his mind was starting to be occupied only by your presence and your touches. It seemed as if you were unaware of what you were doing to him and it frustrated him in a way he wouldn't dare admit that he liked.
But you knew, of course you did. After all, you felt him shiver each time you dipped your hand lower and you could hear his heart racing where your ear was pressed against his chest. You were enjoying the effect you had on him just touching him over his shirt in a relaxed manner, like you weren't taking his breath away with each caress.
Your hand moved lower, now completely under the blanket as you touched his thigh, sliding your hand on the sensitive inner part. Hyunjin's breath hitched and you felt his muscles flex under your palm as you gently moved your hand up and down, coming closer to his core each time you went up.
"Y/n." he tried to chuckle but instead his voice came out unsteady, in a mix of a moan and gasp. You smirked against his chest as your palm pressed on his growing bulge and Hyunjin gripped at your arm, letting out another strained moan.
"Doll." he groaned when you palmed him slowly, feeling him twitch under your touch. You finally looked up at him and electricity rushed through you when you saw just how needy and wrecked he looked. His eyes were half lidded, full of desire for you, his cheeks were rosy and his lips parted as he stared at you.
You knew you were playing with fire now but you couldn't care less, the thought of having him in the palm of your hand literally and figuratively was making you feel excited. You squeezed him and kept touching him as he spread his legs a little and moaned, throwing his head back, letting you have your way with him. Your thighs pressed together at the sight of him falling apart for you so feeling bold, you started sliding your hand into his underwear. As soon as your fingertips reached the tip of his length, Hyunjin looked at you darkly and gripped your wrist gently.
"Tsk. Naughty girl." he smirked and just like that the tables were turned. You barely had time to gasp as he manhandled you and pinned you down on the couch, his strong arms caging you in.
"H-Hyunjin!" you whimpered, your eyes wide as another shot of electricity ran through your entire body, goosebumps rising on your skin.
"You want me to play with you a little, hm?" Hyunjin teased, the blanket thrown aside as his large hands ended up on your waist.
You opened your mouth to speak but he interrupted you.
"You could've just asked, doll. You know how crazy I am about you." he kept smirking as he leaned his face closer to yours.
Your breath hitched, anticipating his lips on yours, even though you've been with him for almost six months, you could never get enough of him. It was as if you wanted him more and more with each passing day spent with him.
Hyunjin was equally as infatuated with you, gravitating towards you as if you were pulling him in and his lips pressed against yours, creating sparks between you. Your hands instantly flew to grab at him but before you could, he grabbed a hold of your wrists and pinned them above your head.
"So needy. Couldn't even wait for us to go to our bedroom." Hyunjin smirked, teasing you by being so close but not giving you exactly what you wanted. You whined, your body arching towards him as you gave him a little smirk.
"I don't think that fucking around the apartment is foreign to us." you retorted and Hyunjin chuckled, the need in his eyes growing.
"You're right, doll. We're too horny to be all fancy about it." he grinned and crashed his lips on yours.
You gasped and his tongue immediately found its way inside your mouth, licking at you and savoring. Both of you tasted sweet, like the chocolate milk you were just drinking and the sweet taste was adding onto the excitement that was building inside you. He pressed his body against yours, caging you in completely and when his middle touch yours, you felt just how hard he got only from the little back and forth between you.
You weren't any better than him, by now your panties were almost completely soaked just because he pinned you down and had you under him. Your cheeks became red with embarrassment when you realized just how much power he had over you.
"Getting shy, doll?" Hyunjin teased as he slowly grinded against you.
"N-no." you whimpered, arching up into him immediately and Hyunjin chuckled, letting go of your hands so he could touch your heated cheeks gently, a sweet gesture amid the fire that was burning between your bodies and your hearts.
"So cute." he continued teasing you and before you could protest, he kissed you again. Your arms, now free, wrapped around his shoulders immediately and your palms ended up on the upper back muscles that just seemed to be more and more defined lately. You touched him, your nails already digging into his skin as he bit on your bottom lip, pulling it between your teeth. Hyunjin's kisses became greedy as he left them on your jaw, down your neck to your collarbone.
"You don't need this." he smirked and grabbed the hem of your shirt, lifting it up and tossing it aside. "Or these." he added, sliding your shorts down with your underwear and throwing the items somewhere behind him, leaving you completely bare before him.
Hyunjin's kisses continued down to your breasts, worshipping them as he wrapped his lips around your nipple and sucked, his hands on your inner thighs, spreading you as he moved them gently up and down on your sensitive skin. He kissed down your stomach to your core, his hands sliding up to cup your breasts and play with them.
"I love chocolate milk but you taste even sweeter." he smirked as he slid down between your legs, looking at your wet core clenching around nothing.
"You're a fool." you let out a little whine of embarrassment as he stared at you intently.
"A fool for you." his hot breath ghosted over your clit, sending tingles through you.
"And cheesy." you whined again and he laughed.
"Mhm, and you love it." he smirked again and before you could think of a comeback, his lips attached to your clit, wrapping around the sensitive nub and sucking on it gently, the tip of his tongue adding onto the feeling. Your legs trembled as he played your body with just his lips and you couldn't help but let out moans and whispers of his name. Hyunjin hummed against you, his tongue darting out to lick a stripe on your wet pussy before he pushed inside, parting your lips and tasting you.
A loud moan left your lips as your hands flew to his hair, fingers digging into his scalp as you finally had something to grip onto and pull. He's been letting his hair grow out lately and the little tufts that would stick in different directions were the cutest thing ever, seeing him all messy in the morning was a sight that warmed your heart and woke up the cuteness aggression inside you. But, what you loved especially was that now, whenever he was making a mess of you, you could make a mess of him too.
And Hyunjin enjoyed it, the feeling of your fingers tangled in his hair and the sweet pain mixed with pleasure as you pulled on it fueled his desire for you even more. He moaned into you, sending shivers up your spine as his tongue lapped at your sweet juices, swallowing everything you gave him. Your grip on his hair became harder when he slowly pushed two fingers inside you, his tongue now playing with your sensitive clit.
"Hyun-Hyunjin!" you groaned, waves of pleasure coursing through your entire body as your toes curled. He easily found the sweet spot inside you, the tips of his fingers brushing against it.
You trembled as he fucked you at a steady pace, his fingers touching all the right spots inside you, his pretty plump lips wrapped around your clit. You were already close, remembering how even the first time you fucked on the kitchen table, you came so fast that it left you deeply embarrassed.
But you didn't care in this moment while he worked hard to bring you to your release and you shamelessly came in less than a few minutes, spilling on his fingers and tongue. Hyunjin groaned, lapping it all up and licking at his fingers eagerly.
"I need you, doll." his voice was raspy as he shakily pulled at his clothes, the items joining the pile of yours on the floor.
"I need you too, Jinnie." your voice was equally as spent but you weren't even near to being done as your legs wrapped around him and brought him closer. Hyunjin slowly pushed inside you, filling you up and touching all the places that only he had the privilege to feel. Your eyes fluttered shut as you clutched onto him, letting him rock your body with his.
"So tight, always so good for me, doll." Hyunjin groaned, losing himself inside you. You could only let out a moan of pleasure as his tip kept brushing against your spot, torturing you in the sweetest way as he set a slow pace.
"Look at me." he demanded in a low voice and you let out a whimper as you opened your eyes and looked into his, noticing the desire swimming inside them. "Just like that, doll. Keep your eyes on me." He continued moving inside you, still keeping the slow and deliberate drag just to drive you completely insane, like only he knew how to.
His thrusts got deeper and harder gradually and your eyes fluttered again, the pleasure building up and becoming too much.
"Don't look away, doll." Hyunjin smirked, picking up the pace. "I want you to look at me while I make you fall apart."
A series of moans and gasps left your lips and your hands slid up from his shoulders to his hair, pulling on it again and Hyunjin snapped in that moment. His hands gripped at your thighs harshly, folding you so your knees touched your shoulders before he started fucking into you harder. You couldn't keep your eyes open when he was rocking your entire world and pulling you apart before putting you back together again.
You kept pulling on his hair, watching the way he trembled above you, his eyes completely taken over by lust as he held you down.
"Gonna cum, doll. Be a good girl and take it all." Hyunjin groaned deeply and all you could was whimper and take it as he exploded and filled you up with his warm cum. The feeling of him claiming you drove you over the edge too and your pussy clenched around him as you came, milking him completely in the process.
His eyes were the ones to roll back this time as you squeezed him, prolonging his high as much as you could. He collapsed on top of you, face tucked in your neck as a blissful smile spread on his face.
"You didn't finish your choco milk." you teased when you finally caught your breath and Hyunjin chuckled.
"I got my dose of sweetness." he looked up at you with a smirk. "For now." he added, his eyes darting between you and your bedroom door.
You gave him a look and he chuckled, holding you tighter.
"I love you. Thanks for the flowers and the choco heart." he nuzzled into you and you giggled.

a/n: i’m not sure if this is actually finished or if i’m just over working on it. 🤷🏼♀️ I hope the conclusion to this is satisfactory. i’m grateful to @jl-micasea-fics for being so encouraging. this is probably the most violent story i’ve ever written, which isn’t relevant at all, but kind of feels like some sort of accomplishment for little ole me. all that rambling to say, thank you for reading. feel free to let me know what you think. i’m not too proud to say that i most definitely need to validation. :D

“I wanna sell Circus.”
His hands freeze and already you miss the comfort. “What?”
You swallow and meet his shocked eyes head-on. “I want to sell the club.”
He lets go of you and stands, walking away.
“I have an interested buyer, but I thought you might want to buy me out before I spoke with him.” You feel like you’re rambling.
He doesn’t say anything.
“I promise this isn’t an impulsive thing…I’ve thought–”
“The club is yours.” He keeps his back to you. “More than mine.”
You sigh, wishing you could see his face so you’d have a clue as to what he’s thinking. “It’s the Syndicate’s, more than either of us.”
It goes quiet again. You notice that your leg is shaking, a sure sign of your nerves. You know this is the right decision, but telling him…you don’t know what you expect.
Perhaps you want him to fight for the club…for you.

A/N: This is a one shot of a series I did it can be read alone but would make much more sense if you read the whole series. You can find that here but it isn't essential.
After months together and your grandmother's gift to you, you have decided you are no longer afraid to let Chan mark you as his forever.
Music pumped rhythmically as you made your way into Ordinary for the first time in a long time, the décor hadn't changed and neither had the atmosphere for heavy drinking and wild dancing it seemed a strange place to be meeting for a date but Chan had assured you that it would be the perfect location and you trusted his judgement. He had long proved his sentimentality when it came to anything or anyone he treasured and, while he did have to remind you, it had been at Oddinary that you had first caught his eye. You also knew he was always incredibly romantic and very old fashioned when it came to you and your relationship. He had been cautious to move your relationship along physically after he realized your fears of him marking you, using the excuse of not wanting to lose control and do anything against your wishes, and for a while you had been content with just kisses, cuddles as sweet words but now you wanted so much more.
Making your way through patrons that were littering the walkway by the bar you felt eyes following you, you paused once you reached the corridor leading from the main bar to the kitchen and bathrooms before venturing down the dimly lit hall until you reached the very end knocking you knuckles against the door casually. A small window in the door slid open and piercing blue eyes met your own you smiled and nodded politely waiting for him to allow you entrance.
"Good evening Miss" a gruff voice answered as the door swung open to reveal a very tall thin gentleman.
"Good evening" You nodded and smiled again passing by him easily and making your way into the basement of the establishment. Chan had previously mentioned that Oddinary had catered for both humans and Oddinaries alike but not that there had been an entirely separate bar in the basement for that reason. Entering the actual club you heard the soft sounds of piano floating gracefully through out the room, red velvet drapes and dark jewel toned leathers gave the room an old world elegance that was jarring from the upstairs neon lights and pumping noise music. A few Oddinaries were seated in booths around the edge of the room including your precious Chan. Chan stood the moment he saw you enter it was his typical gentlemanly ways coming out, and it always caused you to smile, he was always able to sweep you off your feet especially when he looked like he stepped of a movie screen in his back suit and crisp white shirt.
"You look beautiful" he smiled brightly at his eyes sparkling in the low light as he took in the navy dress you had worn for him.
"Thank you Channie, you look rather gorgeous yourself" you giggled as he kissed your cheek and guided you to your seat.
"Apparently I clean up nicely when I let Hyunjin and Jeongin dress me" he admitted smirking, as he noticed you staring at him, which had the desired effect as you felt your cheeks warm up under his heated stare.
"You never did tell me why you wanted to meet here and not just at home?" You murmured as a Nymph girl appeared at your table bringing a suspiciously familiar purple shimmering drink "Is this?"
"Yes it is and no I didn't did I?" he watched as you took a small sip from the glass his eyes burning your skin where they lingered.
"Are you going to tell me now?" you teased gently biting your lower lip as you placed the glass back on the table your fingers stroking the cold surface slowly collecting the condensation on your fingertips.
"I wanted to give the boys time to all clear out of the house" he shrugged his eyes flicking between your fingers and your face "The last thing I want is any interruptions tonight my love"
"Ever the planner" you smirked feeling a mixture of nerves and excitement light up in your blood, knowing Chan would feel it too, you were pleased when he had to stifle a groan as you pressed your thighs together to feel the tiniest amount of relief.
"And you are being a rather naughty girl tonight love" You have spent far too much time with Hyunjin and Changbin he faux scolded taking a mouthful of the gin he had left sitting in front of him.
"What time did you tell the boys they needed to be out?" your voice almost a whisper
"They should all be upstairs did you not see them as you came in?" he chuckled darkly as your eyes widened slightly "Minho will be very disappointed that you don't take your safety and surroundings seriously"
"I felt eyes, I knew they were harmless and I was distracted by this incredibly attractive Vampire I was meeting here" you pouted looking away from him.
"Well I don't like the sound of that I better get you home so you are safe" he smiled suggestively standing and reaching for your hand which you gave him automatically. "Shall we love?"
You giggled as he led you back up the stairs but instead of leaving through the front bar he led you through the rear doors and straight to his car his hands wandering your shoulders, arms and back the further from the bar you got. Opening the door for you, as always, he assisted you inside before kissing your knuckles again and making his way to the drivers side beaming as he drove the pair of you home. The tension between you only grew during the short drive, you hand resting on top of the hand he had resting on your fabric covered thigh. Pulling up to the townhouse your nervous excitement only grew, the anticipation of Chan finally touching you the way you had wanted him to for weeks was almost too much for you.
Leading you into his bedroom you dropped your bag and keys on the desk under the large window only to find yourself tugged backwards pressed against Chan's hard chest.
"You can stop me anytime you need my love" he whispered seductively kissing the shell of your ear "But from the way your heart is beating I'm going to assume you are not going to want me to"
"Chan please don't stop" you gasped his hand sliding up your body pausing to gently squeeze your breasts before making its way around your throat holding you firmly to him "want this please"
"You are perfect baby" he chuckled letting you go suddenly leaving you blinking and unbalanced "I'll give you what ever you want as long as you will be a good girl for me" he spun you around to face him claiming your lips before you had a chance to focus on his face. His kiss was all consuming as though he could steal your breath from you as his plush lips glided against your own. Kissing his way down your jaw to your neck you couldn't help letting your head fall to the opposite side.
"I'll be so good Chan" you whined while he grazed the skin on your neck and shoulder with his teeth nibbling and kissing everywhere he could reach which only made him smirk against your skin sliding the strap of your dress from your shoulder.
"Can I take this off of you?" he teased lightly pulling on the zipper at the back of your dress with one hand while the other stroked across your waist.
"Yes please" you whimpered feeling almost drunk on how intense the emotions you were feeling were becoming and the feel of his hand on you. Agonizingly slowly Chan lowered the zip slipping the fabric off your body with ease leaving you in nothing but your underwear. You could hear his breath suck in sharply as he took in your mostly naked body, instantly taking the upper hand you placed your hands on his chest carefully backing him up to the bed and gently pushing him to sit.
"Love?" he murmured lowly watching you straddle his legs your hands moving to push his jacket from his broad shoulders.
"Let me help you Channie, just want to be your good girl" you cooed looking at him with your best doe eyes, starting to unbutton the shirt he was wearing fingers stroking the skin you exposed making him groan beneath you. His hard chest was a work of art and you had a sneaking suspicion the rest of him would be too as you dragged your fingers toward the fastenings of his pants.
Chan stopped you continuing by capturing your chin between his fingers holding you in place with just enough force for you to know he meant it. Pulling you in for another passionate kiss his tongue tracing the seam of your lips asking your entrance, which you gave him easily, his tongue gliding with yours as he deepened the kiss further. Lifting you from his lap he carefully laid you on the bed hovering over you as he continued to kiss you, his hands mapping your skin and making you feel as though you were on fine. You gasped as his fingered teased the edge of your underwear hooking his forefingers in the waist band he tugged them leisurely down your legs flinging them somewhere for you to find later.
"Do you still want this?" he whispered against your lips his fingers expertly slipping between your open thighs and caressing your wet slit.
"Please, yes, please" you whimpered bucking your hips slightly towards his fingers "want you Chan, only you"
Chan growled lowly letting his fingers dip between your lips and feeling how slick with arousal you were for him easily slipped a single one inside you as his thumb began its tortuously slow pace of circling your clit. Your head was spinning, you already felt like you were on fire with how much you wanted him but now you could feel how badly he desired you and it was launching you almost over the edge without him doing anything more than tease you then he added another digit to your entrance making you arch off the bed with pleasure.
"Oh gods" you moaned loudly grasping his arms and shirt so hard you though you might tear the fabric.
"Can you feel that baby? feel what you make me feel? feel what I want to do to you?" He groaned as he felt your orgasm approaching as your walls tightened around his fingers.
"Yes.... Chan... I feel it...please I need more...please" you begged from beneath, hips cantering against his hand looking for more friction.
"Good girl baby, beg for me" he growled increasing his pace and bringing you so close to the edge you were dripping onto his hand unable to do anything but arch and moan beneath him. He pulled himself away from you leaving you dazed and confused as he rapidly undressed himself before returning to you "What do you need baby?"
"You Chan. I need you" you pleaded hands moving to cup his face "Only you Chan". You watching his eyes darken until they were almost black as he slowly leaned into to kiss you again, his hard length sliding between your folds before sheathing himself inside you making you cry out in bliss as he stretched you around him.
"You're so beautiful" he moaned pounding into you remorselessly his hips slamming against yours "All mine" you mewled helplessly letting him have you however he wanted the combined emotions of the two of you causing you to lose all self control as you came hard on his cock moaning his name loudly. He slid himself from you making you whine at the loss of the feeling of him inside you, he gently repositioned you onto your knees pushing himself back inside your swollen entrance.
"Chan" you gasped desperately feeling him even deeper inside you than before he dick perfectly rubbing against your g spot as he thrusted into you slower this time. Clawing at the sheets you almost came again when he wrapped one large hand around your throat and pulled you up against his chest. You could feel how close he was as hip hips began to stutter as he continued burying himself inside you.
"Good girl, are you ready? are you sure?" he ground out between his gritted teeth.
"Please" you whimpered again overwhelmed by what you were feeling his love for you, his lust, his need to keep you with him forever and your need to stay with him. Your heart felt like it was going to burst with how intense everything felt now that you you truly understood what it meant to be his mate. Less than a second later he tilted your head to the left and you felt a sharp pain as his teeth pierced the skin of your neck, the pain faded almost as quickly as is occurred replaced instead with intense pleasure which caused you to scream as you came so hard your vision went white causing Chan to follow you over the edge filling you with his seed into your convulsing core before everything went dim. It was like everything faded away and it was just the two of you left in the world as you opened your eyes to find Chan already tending to the wound on the bottom of your neck.
"I am so sorry my love, forgive me" he murmured sadly kissing your forehead.
"I don't understand" you croaked your voice hoarse from overuse.
"I took too much, I should have made sure that Felix or Han were home to keep you safe" his voice shook as he continued to dress the wound that you realized you would wear forever.
"I am always safe with you, Chan and I always will be" you smiled reaching for his face to get him to kiss you again.
"I hurt you though" he sadly attempted to argue.
"No you didn't I'm fine I promise" you soothed peppering his face with kisses "Now please hold me" you pouted, making him sigh in defeat and gently take you into his arms pulling you to his bare chest.
"I love you" he kissed your hair as you listened to his breathing.
"I love you to Chan, forever" you smiled knowing that this was just the start of the next part of your life together.

Free of magic you find yourself finally feeling as though you are back to yourself and can make your own decisions about Chan but how does an immortal and a human relationship actually work?
Forever, that is what Chan had said to you that night all those months ago and although at the time you had believed him when he said it you now knew unconditionally that it was truth. You had returned home to your parents and grandmother, who had been sternly reprimanded by both of them, and the life that you had always been used to. Only now there was a whole new side to the world, as you got used to not wearing the amulet you had grown to appreciate the Oddinary world so much more. The creatures you had met through the bookstore were now so much more vivid than before, so much friendlier to you, and of course more interested. Of course Chan had been beside you for all of it and had helped with how to keep yourself safe from anyone who appeared to have ulterior motives now that they could all sense you, the real you. After every day ended and you began closing up the shop either Chan or one of the others would come to wait for you, it was a luxury that you loved having, and they would walk you either back to your place or theirs making sure you were always protected. You knew eventually they would stop doing it but you enjoyed it for the time being getting to know them all so well.
Chan had also met your parents, who naturally adored the stupidly handsome Vampire, and he began seeing you properly as he called it, taking you on various dates around the city as you progressively became a very normal couple. From dinners in fancy restaurants, dinners he cooked for you, movies, picnics in the park and midnight strolls you had been thoroughly spoiled by him and what began as and intense white hot feeling had evolved into a deep love for him that you knew you would never find again. Although there were still things you needed to figure out everything had been perfect, except for the lingering voice in the back of your head that kept reminding you the Chan was immortal, he was totally ageless, and you were very much mortal.
Sitting in the parlor while Felix and Innie teased Changbin was always hilarious to you, they would imitate his workouts from somewhere upstairs loudly and he would end up chasing them until he caught at least one of them. You sat laughing on the couch while Han helped Minho with his research.
"You know it gets more ridiculous each time because you find it so funny" Minho sighed deeply as the shrieks got closer.
"Yeah I know but it will always be funny" you shrugged watching the annoyance on Minho's face. Just then Felix burst through the door followed immediately by Changbin who was red in the face and looked irritated. Felix launched himself over the couch ending up behind you clutching your shoulders
"You can't do anything now!" Felix sang sticking his tongue out like a child "Chan will be mad if she gets hurt" you rolled your eyes knowing full well that he was only saying it to make a scene.
Changbin grumbled something low in his chest which you couldn't really make out so you just cocked your head at him watching him closely as he seemed to be making a plan of what to do next.
"Innie isn't in here though" you prodded causing a wolfish grin to appear on his face as he sprinted from the room.
"Oooh Innie thinks he's the favorite too he will be devastated you sold him out" Han chuckled waiting to hear the shriek from upstairs.
"Hannie I don't have favorites you know that" you scolded playfully and Felix sat himself down and sprawled out on the couch beside you, his head falling into your lap. A high pitch shriek sounded upstairs followed by loud thumps, a slamming door and a very low rumbling growl which stopped the noise instantly.
"I guess that's game over then" you smirked as Felix giggled, stopping as soon as Chan entered the room, before he righted himself so he was no longer in your lap and now sitting further from you. You quirked your eye brows at Chan who shrugged taking your hand and pulling you to your feet.
"Indulge me in following me, my love" he whispered into your hair making you nod as you walked from the room and up the stairs to his study where he pulled you into his lap on one of the armchairs.
"What's wrong Chan your tense" you murmured resting your head against his hard chest.
"I wanted to talk to you about when you feel you would be ready to take another step with me" he murmured back smiling faintly although his eyes were worried.
"Like me moving in here?" you asked blinking at him like it would be obvious that you would agree to it.
"The next Oddinary step sweetheart, marking you as my mate to be precise" He almost faulted as he uttered the words his nerves obvious. Your eyes involuntarily widened as he stroked his long fingers along you arms.
"How would you mark me Chan?" your breathe hitched as you spoke feeling both nervous and excited at the idea.
"I would feed on you baby, it would leave a scar on you somewhere that was obvious if anyone looked, but where would be up to you of course" Chan soothed holding you close to him as you thought about it.
"Will it hurt a lot?" you asked pulling out of his grasp slightly and moving to straddle his legs, you wanted to look at him while you had this conversation even if it was only so you could remain calm about it. Chan cupped your face carefully his fingers moving your hair away from your face.
"It shouldn't hurt you, not really" He explained gently "I would only ever have to do this once, and I will try to make it as fast and painless for you as possible. I can mark your neck, your wrist, your shoulder it would be up to you" his reassurance helped to make you see that he was also nervous about the whole idea too.
You and Chan had not taken many steps into a physical relationship yet making out in his room when the other were out was as far as you had ever gotten, when you asked him about it he had told you he was concerned he would lose control with you and accidentally hurt you but you were unsure if that had just been an excuse at the time.
"I love you Chan" you whispered as you pressed your lips to his sweetly "I trust you to mark me wherever you want to" you smiled at him watching him mull the idea over in his head before he grinned and pulled you back against his lips. His normally soft kisses were rougher, needier this time making you gasp against his mouth which he took as his advantage to slip his tongue into your mouth dancing with your own. Moaning into his mouth you found yourself sliding further down his legs to seat yourself directly over his crotch..
"Not right now though my love" Chan groaned moving you in his lap to prevent any further friction between you both causing you to pout as him "I'll make sure the boys aren't home first" making you sigh in defeat.
"Channie what happens after you mark me? Does it change anything?"
"Other Oddinaries will know you are mine, that you are taken, it shouldn't cause you any problems humans don't normally even notice them" He explained seeming unsure of what you actually wanted to know.
"Will it change me in any way?"
"What do you mean my darling, what is it you need me to say?" his brows were now furrowed and his eyes started at you almost pleadingly.
"It's just me being confused about it that's all Chan, Oddinary things are still strange to me sometimes" you smiled hoping to cover what you actually wanted to ask feeling embarrassed about the idea of bringing up your mortality. If Chan had noticed he didn't press it instead pressing a kiss to your forehead.
That night you struggled to sleep your mind just would not shut off to allow you to relax, just circling back to the same fact that is Chan wanted to mark you it meant he wanted only you but how would your mortality make it all work. Would he stay with you until you eventually died? What would happen to him after that? Would he move on afterwards or would he just be alone from that day on? It was starting to upset you, your chest was growing tight with each cascading thought, sighing frustrated at your own mind you got up and went downstairs to make a cup of calming tea that you knew would always help you too sleep. Pottering quietly as you waited for the water to boil you distracted yourself by staring at the moon and completely missed that your grandmother had appeared in the doorway to see what you were doing at such a late time of night.
"What troubles your mind child?" She broke the silence after the kettle boiled and you still hadn't moved, you sighed lowering your head "Your secrets have always been safe with me this time is no different, I was once young too remember" she smiled wryly busying herself by making your tea for you as thought.
"I don't know how to explain it properly" you grumbled softly frowning as you tried to find an explanation she would understand.
"Follow me child, we will take tea in my room" picking up a tray of cups and the teapot she led you from the kitchen to her bedroom come workroom, gesturing for you to sit one one of the chairs by her work bench. Smiling you remembered all the times in your childhood you had sat in the same chair watching and helping as she weighed and mixed herbs for teas and herbal elixirs, always telling you about the plants and meaning behind them. You looked at her meeting her eyes and staring as she held your gaze still as steadfast as the young woman she had been all those hundreds of years before although she seemed to have become frail.
"How do I make this work?" You asked finally picking up your tea cup to take a sip.
"I assume you mean you and your paramour" she smiled her knowing eyes twinkling "Well that depends on what you want my child" placing her teacup back in its saucer she took your hands in hers "Once he had marked you as his mate you will be his until you decide otherwise I have seen how the poor boy looks at you, he will never want to let you go"
"That is the problem Grandma, I don't want to let him go either I don't think my heart would ever let me but one day I'll die wont I, what happens to Chan after that?" You're voice may have been tentative but you knew she could see how serious you were about the words you had said.
"Ah, your mortality is what is causing you pain my child. There are two options that you can take the first is to ask him to turn you, he can do this although I fear he would not like the idea as it is a risk to your life" she explained slowly letting the information sink in "The other still gives you immortality but at a cost you may not wish to pay but I would be grateful to give to you, my child".
"I don't understand Grandma" you blinked watching her closely.
"I will show you my dear" She stood slowly walking stiffly to the chest at the end of her bed as she rummaged through you notice for the first time how much older she seemed compared to before all this started. As she returned to you though you could see her holding the oldest book you had ever seen wrapped in faded and battered brown leather and held together with a piece of ribbon tied around it tightly.
"This is the original that was given to me all those years ago and if you agree it shall be yours" she placed it into your hands and you turned it over in your hands to looks at the damaged symbols that covered it. "It is the grimoire that I was given when the pact was formed and it is what I would offer to you should you wish it".
"What does that mean Grandma?" your question felt heavy on your tongue as though something in you knew but didn't want to say it out loud.
"This is the book of the Morrigan, it is what gave me my vengeance many ages ago and it is what will grant you your wish for immortality" he voice was calm as she explained what you were beginning to understand was the high cost she had mentioned "I will grant you the Morrigan, to use as you see fit, until the end of time and in exchange I will finally rest"
"You mean die Grandma? you want me to take what is keeping you alive?" you had to stop yourself yelling at how easily she spoke of her own death.
"My duty to your bloodline has been fulfilled it is only a matter of time before my body begins to fail further than it already has, the Morrigan will then be lost to this world. My oath in exchange for this power was based on justice and revenge once your oath is done the Morrigan no longer sustains immortality it seeks a new home, a new oath" Her voice wavered as she spoke but you could feel it in your blood that she was telling the truth and it caused tears to start flowing immediately
"You're already dying then?" you sobbed loudly the pain in your chest so sharp you could feel it running down your arms and into your fingers making them ache terribly. Her arms wrapped around you soothing you as best she could her soft coos barely registering in your ears before she left the room momentarily returning with more tea and Chan in tow.
"Chan?" you hiccupped as he pulled you into his chest his strong arms holding you tightly as you sobbed into his chest
"What happened?" His voice was low and agitated but you knew it was only from his worry about you.
"I offered her a gift, but she has realized the cost of that gift" your grandmother answered pouring another cup of tea for you.
"What gift would cause her this level of pain?" He growled you could feel him trying desperately not to tense too much while holding you.
"The Morrigan" was all your grandmother said before silently finishing her tea.
"What? why?" Chan's tension melted as the confusion in his voice became obvious as he just stared at your grandmother waiting for a answer.
"The child, wants immortality so that she may walk at your side" Chan's jaw dropped as he watched your grandmother speak "I am dying young Vampire, the Morrigan will be freed upon my death and I would rather gift her to my grand daughter instead of her leaving this world forever" your sobs had subsided as you listened to them talk.
"Grandma, I don't want to lose you" you sniffed
"You will never lose me my child, I will live on in you always, through this power you would have me with you for all time" she patted you hair on the side that was not pressed to Chan's chest "With your blood and this power you would never need worry again, you would remain forever, ageless and free to so as you please"
"But you have not remained ageless" you blinked at her trying to stop more tears coming.
"No I have not, to use the power of the Morrigan is to age that is why she is passed from one soul to another, I used her to keep you safe with her power, you need not do that" Now it was your turn to looked shocked unable to really reconcile the idea that she aged only to protect you and all the women in for family before you.
"So regardless of what her decision is you will still die Morrigan?" Chan asked slowly regarding her once again.
"Yes, so rather than risking her life by turning her she could have this power" the tiredness in her voice was beginning to bleed through. You pulled yourself from Chan's arms and kissed her forehead
"You need rest Grandma" seeming in a daze you started leaving the room Chan following close behind you until you made it to the kitchen and almost collapsed in his arms.
"Right, you are coming back with me and Minho is going to look you over" Chan stated before scooping you up and starting the trip home. You remembered everything the trip back to Chan's, the fuss when he came bursting through the door carrying you, him yelling to Minho and the others all rushing down to see what had happened but you couldn't even speak you were struggling to even keep your eyes open at that point.
"Why is she always fainting?" Changbin whined looking at you with with his head tilted.
"She is even more dramatic than me" Hyunjin smirked at you and you desperately wanted to flip him off but you couldn't.
"She's had a lot to deal with give her a break" Felix snapped before Chan could even begin to tell them off his voice far sharper than normal.
"What did you do this time?" Minho sighed looking at your eyes.
"I didn't do anything" Chan groaned.
"So this isn't from blood loss?" Minho huffed sending out a small blueish spell around your body. The snarl that ripped from Chan's throat sucked the air out of the room leaving even you slightly wary in your own hazy way.
"Morrigan told her that she is dying, offered her to become the next Morrigan to give her immortality. She was in so much fucking pain and then she just collapsed" Chan ground out his jaw still clenched angry that most of them were not taking this seriously
"I'm sorry what?" Seungmin faulted frowning deeply. Minho recovered quickly from the information and sent out a few different spells to get you to come round faster while you lazily blinked up at him from where you laid on the couch.
"Blinking is good right?" Felix whispered taking the hand that wasn't in Chan's and instantly going wide eyed and stricken. "Han...help" Han vaulted the table he was standing behind and took your forearm in his hand while next to Felix. Between the two of them influencing you, Chan's grounding you and Minho's magic you started to feel better but only marginally.
"Sleep please" you moan quietly shutting your eyes fully. Chan scooped you up with immense care and took you upstairs the others all following suit watching as Chan placed you on his bed and put a blanket over you. Chan ushered everyone into Minho's study at the further down the landing leaving you in silence to sleep.
"What exactly did Morrigan say?" Minho quizzed searching his shelves rapidly
"She is dying" Chan sighed rubbing his face and flopping down into Minho's chair "she used up all the power that the Morrigan gave her if she dies before she passes it on it disappears but if she passes it on then that person becomes immortal as long as they don't use the power. She wants her to have it so she can become immortal rather than the other option she has"
"Morrigan doesn't want you to turn her then?" Hyunjin nodded understanding at least some of what Chan said
"I had no intention of turning her" Chan sighed "But I also didn't realize how big of a deal she was making about the whole mortal, immortal thing either she never mentioned it"
"Or you just didn't catch it" Seungmin added looking at Chan pointedly.
"Does she want you to turn her?" Jeongin squeaked feeling stressed about what that would do to you.
"No I don't think so, she's already nervous about me marking her" Chan looked to Minho who was now flicking furiously through an ancient looking book.
"You haven't marked her at all?" Hyunjin chocked on his own breath "It's been months Chan"
"Why do you think one of us gets her from work every day?" Changbin glared smacking Hyunjin on the back of his head "If she's scared of it why would he?" The others turned to look at Changbin surprised who jut shrugged like it was obvious.
"She should take the power" Minho interrupted looking at Chan who raised his eyebrows waiting for a further explanation "If what Morrigan says is true, and I assume it is, it would give her more power than any of us will ever have which keeps her safe and in theory us safe too"
"How would it keep us safe?" Felix inquired
"All Oddinaries can sense power, you can tell Chan is more powerful than other Vampires in a moment, combine her blood with the Morrigan and she would be one of the most powerful Oddinaries in the world" Minho elaborated like it was obvious and they were all dim witted causing nearly all their eyes to widen.
"Would you be happy to speak to Morrigan about how safe this will be?" Chan slowly asked watching Minho who nodded "I'm going back in to watch her"
You had slept for two days only waking to eat and use the bathroom as the boys each took turns either watching you or bringing you food. Chan was with you most of the time but occasionally he would be out and you would find Felix, Jeongin or Seungmin in his place. On the morning of the third day you awoke to the sound of your grandmother's voice as she softly lectured someone just outside the open doorway.
"I know you care for her little one, she will be fine once she wakes you will see her return to normal" she almost cooed
"But she's my friend and I'm worried" you heard Innie whimper
"We all worry Innie" Chan reassured him quietly "But she is safe with us"
"That is what I am depending on" your grandmother replied before bustling into the room with a tray "Good my child, you are awake"
"Am I?" you muttered skeptically "why are you in Chan's house?" at the sound of your words Chan and Innie came into the room and you could hear thundering steps from outside
"Your paramour worries child, as does his family" she smiled coyly smoothing you hair and handing you a drink
"Chan worries about me on the daily that doesn't explain it" your groaned snidely "What are you hiding?" without turning you could hear Innie and Felix giggle softly "Grandma!"
"The time has come my dear one" she sighed deeply "A choice must be made for my time is running out and I would see you become the new Morrigan before my last breath" a sad smile graced her face as you flung yourself into her arms
"I don't want you to die Grandma, what will I do without you?" you sniffed as tears fell rapidly down your cheeks and onto her blouse
"If you accept my gift you will never be without me, I will remain with you" she soothed softly while you continued to cry into her shoulder "my life will end regardless of this offer my child, accept it and you will be happy with your paramour, the way I once was in ages gone by"
You held onto her for what seemed like hours but no one seemed to mind, you knew she was right, you knew that there was nothing you could do to stop it and at least if you accepted her gift she would be happy before she left. When you eventually sat back up you steeled yourself for what you had decided to do
"What do I need to do Grandma to become the next Morrigan?" you whispered feeling distraught but also determined.
"There is very little you need do, you are already strong and you have proved that many times over. There is little risk to you" she smiled sagely "As you do not seek vengeance or blood the Morrigan should lie calm within you. Not all of us who receive her have needed to use her for that"
"When will this happen?" you swallowed hard knowing the answer was likely to be very soon.
"The new moon is tonight it would be better for you if complete it tonight" she rose from the bed slowly her leg shaking slightly under her as you moved quickly to stabilize her.
"How long have you put off telling me about all of this?" you questioned knowingly.
"Since the first night you came here" she smiled as you helped her towards the bedroom door "Since the young warlock broke the oath spell I began to wither" You escorted her slowly down the first flight of stairs meeting Hyunjin on the landing.
"If I may, my lady" he smiled bowing his head to your grandmother who shook her head exasperatedly.
"Very well, little demon" she sighed letting go of your hand and taking a step towards Hyunjin who promptly swept her off her feet and began down the stairs towards the parlor. You followed in stunned silence as he deposited her in front of the large arm chairs by the fire letting her get herself comfortable.
"Grandma how have you managed to charm an entire house of creatures you previously insulted?" your bewildered expression making her laugh as you took a seat on the floor at her feet.
"Easy my child, I'm dying and we found common ground between us" she chucked
"What common ground?"
"Our love for you, child" she rolled her eyes like it was the most obvious thing in the world "But they do fuss more than is needed". You narrowed your eyes skeptically at her but said nothing further as Minho appeared with Chan the former carrying a mug of hot tea which he gave to your grandmother with a warm smile. Chan just looked at you before he dropped a kiss to the crown of your head and left again presumably to prepare for what was coming.
"Lady Morrigan, would you like anything else?" Minho inquired genially
"No thank you young one" she beamed taking a sip of the hot tea he had given her.
"Where will this whole thing happen?" you asked looking at her wistfully knowing that every second with her mattered.
"We will need to be in the moonlight so young Minho has suggested the roof of the house, however I would prefer the little island in the lake of the park, it holds great power that place many of the elder magic users have traveled there to perform more difficult magic" she explained "I will need assistance to get there but it is the best place for the ritual"
"All the kids want to come with you so you will have all of us to assist you my lady" Chan added as he walked back in with a tray of various biscuits and cakes with Felix and the others hovering close behind.
"I am grateful to leave her with you, she has found a greater home here than I could have ever believed her to find. That is why I have fought for her, protected her, she is a rarity among humans" her hand reached out to you and you took it kissing her palm tenderly as you blinked back tears.
"Grandma, tell me about your husband?" you whispered clearing your throat you needed to hear her voice for as long as you could as you looked at her pleadingly.
"My Edwin, he was but a wisp of a boy when we first met, tall and blonde, he worked as a stable hand at the inn caring for horses was the one thing besides out daughter that made him truly happy" she exhaled her eyes crinkling as she spoke "By the time we were wed he had become a strapping man shoulders as wide as a doorway and almost as tall as one, kind and strong and honest he was a good man until the end" she trailed of softly looking fondly at you. Your could feel the woman you saw in front of you fading and as much as it broke your heart you also could see she was ready for it to end after all this time.
"Do you think you will see him again?" you knew it was a foolish question but you wanted to say something anything to bring you some comfort and to ensure that she was happy, that she was content to leave you and this life.
"I would like to hope I so, my darling girl" she breathed out tiredly her breathing seeming slightly more labored. "We should begin out journey before I loose anymore strength" slowly she attempted to pull herself up only the have Felix interceded and help her up.
"We will ensure we get there my lady" he smiled helping her towards the front door, Chan took your hands in his pulling you to your feet and wrapping his arms around you helping to keep you as calm as he could.
"We are all coming baby, you will not be alone through this" he murmured into your ear. Nodding you allowed him to walk you from the house and towards Minho's car with your grandmother already seated in the front you climbed in behind her your hands remaining on her shoulders as you made your way to the the island in the lake.
Parking at the nearest entrance Minho quickly moved to help your grandmother from the car while Chan continued to lead you along watching, and feeling, as your nerves and pain started to climb within you, it was Seungmin and Jeongin who met the two of you at the bank on the lake Seungmin moving to assist your grandmother and Jeongin turning to face you.
"Want to see something cool" He grinned toothily at you as you nodded wide eyed at him, turning back to the water he crouched down and softly sang the most beautiful song you had ever heard. The water swelled slightly and as he stepped forward it moved away forming a totally dry section of land that seemed to intuitively move as he did.
"What is that" you gasped watching in wonder as he took another step forward making the new path longer.
"I'm a Siren, the water and I are part of each other I can ask it to help us get across. Cool huh?" He looked so excited to show you something unique to him and you were in complete awe of it.
"I am honored you would assist me young one after all I have done" your grandmother bowed her head to Seungmin breaking the silence you had been bathed in "You are far greater a creature than I"
"My lady, you are my friends grandmother, the woman who has chosen to give her a gift that will make her and my brother happy, it would be remiss of me to not be here to assist you" Seungmin replied formally showing his pleasure in how pleased your grandmother looked at his words.
"We must make haste now I will not be able to go much farther" she almost whimpered as she made to step forward only to be stopped and lifted effortlessly by Seungmin as Chan shepherded you onto the dry patch on land beside Jeongin.
The walk across the lake took almost no time with your grandmother being carried by Seungmin and once across the weight of what was about to happen hit you like a ton of bricks but there was no way to change things now your grandmother had been so very happy that you were going to accept this last piece of her help. You saw Minho standing in a small stone circle using a spell to light a fire in the center, the circle seemed to be surrounded on all sides by century old trees slightly gnarled in their old age, stepping closer you could feel the power that lie in the circle it almost pulsed with its own heart beat.
"We must stand together in the circle, my child you on one side of the flame from me hold my right arm in yours and repeat everything I tell you too" Your grandmother's voice had grown stronger as Seungmin placed her in the circle and you nodded and followed her request.
The wind picked up slightly as you grasped her right forearm your hand clasped firmly by her elbow and her hand clasped around yours she began to chant softly at first as each of the boys stepped back from you almost to the line of the trees. Her chanting grew louder and her grip stronger her fingers feeling as though they were trying to pierce your skin it was uncomfortable but you didn't dare move or look away from her. The wind blew harder still and the flame between you hotter and brighter after a few minutes of this finally she stopped.
"Repeat after me, child, I make this bond, I make my oath, I give you blood, I give you flesh, I will carry this blessing, I will carry this right" she instructed intently
"I make this bond, I make this oath, I give you blood, I give you flesh, I will carry this blessing, I will carry this right"
"O Morrigan I bind you to me, I bind your soul to me, I bind your power to me" Her voice grew desperate as she continued
"O Morrigan I bind you to me, I bind your soul to me, I bind your power to me"
"Keep repeating it child" she gasped her grip now growing weaker "When I let go you may stop"
"I make this bond, I make this oath, I give you blood, I give you flesh, I will carry this blessing, I will carry this right, O Morrigan I bind you to me, I bind your soul to me, I bind your power to me" you repeated the chant a half dozen timed before your grandmother's hand let go of your arm and she sunk to her knees weakly but smiling triumphantly. You gasped as you felt as if you had been embraced too tightly but lovingly as you heard a voice from somewhere in the back of your head telling you it was done you were one and hundreds of images danced behind your eyes of all the lives that had come before you.
"It has worked" she croaked her voice beginning to fail
"Grandma!" you rushed to her side helping her to a more comfortable position half laying in your arms "I love you, thank you for everything, I love you" You muttered into her hair in between kisses as tears once again fell down your cheeks.
"I am happy for you my dearest girl, you were all I could have hoped for" she whispered before her breathing began to fail, you held her for the last few moments giving her all the comfort you could as your heart shattered you at last lowered her to the ground her eyes now lifeless. Chan approached you slowly along with the other boys unsure of what was going to happen or how you were going to react. You stood gracefully stepping out of the circle as you heard her in the back of your mind whispering to you "I am always with you, child". You watched on as she began to turn to ash crumbling to the ground and blowing away softly in the breeze. Turning to Chan you smiled sadly before the boys came in one by one to hug you giving you their care and comfort.
"How did it feel to absorb that kind of power?" Minho asked cautiously "As a human you did exceptionally well"
"Strange it was like being hugged too tightly, then I saw too many things to comprehend of all the ones who came before me, then the first Morrigan spoke to me and it was done. I honestly thought it was going to hurt" you inhaled deeply before letting the air out slowly feeling quite unusual.
"We should get you home then" Chan interrupted before you could get too carried away "It has been a very intense day love" You nodded allowing him to pick you up to carry you back across the lake even though you didn't actually need his help you were drained emotionally but physically you felt more alive than you ever had. They all followed Jeongin and Chan back across the lake making jokes and lighthearted comments to make you smile.
"You know I owe Hyunjin money now" Changbin nudged your shoulder playfully after Chan lowered you back to the ground. "I was sure our little human was going to faint again"
"I'm sure your little human would have fainted" you giggled turning to look at them all lovingly "How much did you lose?"
"$100 and what do you mean 'would of'?" Hyunjin blinked raising his eyebrow "I was sure you would be fine by the way" you laughed properly at his confusion.
"Boys I'm not a human any more I'm now no different from you" you explained easily watching as some of them instantly got your meaning while some didn't "I'm an Oddinary now".
Fin.

"I'm sorry, what?" Seungmin looks over at you like you're the non-human. You point at his phone.
"I turned on your location so I know where you are. You, sir, have not been at home when you tell me that's where you're going."
"And you're what? My mother? My girlfriend? Gross," he says with a grimace as he slips his laptop into his bag.
"Mildly paranoid about your safety."
"You gonna hold that over my head for eternity?"
"Yes."
He can't help the grin in response to your adamant reply.
"Look. We might not be partners anymore, but I still worry." You'd gotten a promotion to Associate Editor and it meant you weren't out searching stories as much, but Seungmin was still your colleague. Maybe it's because neither of you had a family to miss you if you disappeared.
Maybe it was that one time he disappeared.
"Okay okay." He loops the bag over his shoulder. "I meet with others like me."
"Like you?" You want to say something petty, but then you realize… "Oh."
"Those who…chose to live separately. New people need to assimilate so…"
"Like a support group?"
"Exactly."
You want to ask. About him. Has Seungmin heard anything? Do they keep in touch?
Is he okay?
"That makes sense."
He watches you for a few seconds, as though gauging. "I won't turn it off."
"Huh?"
"The location thing. I won't turn it off. It's nice to know someone's looking out for me." He bumps shoulders with you as he heads out for the night. "Have fun!" It's mocking, how he teases you for those extra responsibilities your promotion includes.
You watch him go, the questions still forefront in your mind.
Is it devious of you? Absolutely, but he didn't tell you not to. You didn't promise not to.
Was it a bit murky? Yes. To follow his location when he went to the 'support group' and sit in your car across the road from the building.
Hella murky.
Seungmin doesn't look 'other' to you. At all. Some of it is familiarity, even the most beautiful of people probably look less stunning on repeat views, but you think he also dulls down that part of himself. He has to, after all. He works alongside people in a curious field. People who seek truth.
Most of the time.
You forget that he isn't what he appears to be. It's been months and months since you've known and for whole days you forget about what he actually is.
But you don't forget Hyunjin.
Even without realizing it, something of him pops into your mind daily. His voice, his laugh, his eyes.
It's alarming, but it's normal now. In these months and months, Hyunjin lives in your memories.
You're glad you have that of him.
You want to see more half-fae, that's all. A reminder that they do exist. That it's not your imagination, or delusional twist of memories.
You won't confront anyone, or even take pictures or video.
God, you're justifying your creepy behaviour to an absent jury.
You see Seungmin coming out of the very nondescript building. In your years of being a journalist, you've learned that buildings and even people can look too average, too unnoticeable, which makes them noticeable. This building fits.
You doubt that Seungmin can see you, so far across the street, but you slump down in the driver's seat anyway. Habit and instinct. He's talking with a couple someones, no one that you recognize from your vantage point. Should you have brought your binoculars? Yes, but this reconnaissance was last minute. Your phone had notified you about Seungmin and his weekly 'not going home' and you finished the dregs of your tea and threw on something other than your pajamas (yay Saturdays), and driven to this nondescript building.
The someones and Seungmin seem to be having pleasant conversation before bidding each other goodbye. Seungmin and one man (you assume from the near buzz-cut hair and clothing choices) talk for a little longer, not unpleasant it looks like, but more serious. You know what Seungmin looks like when he's very into what he's saying and the need for whoever he's speaking with to also agree with him. There are more hand gestures than normal.
They part ways and you intend to follow Seungmin, but the moment the other man starts to walk, you can't look away.
You know that gait.
It's a gut reaction, and it takes several seconds for your brain to put two and two together as to why you are so focused on this random stranger.
You know that gait.
He gets into an unfamiliar car, but you follow despite all the things that aren't correct: the hair, the car, the mere fact that this 'stranger' is on this side of town, in plain view and not sequestered at some hidden club.
You give a good five car lengths between you, even letting another car in. It's easy to see the beat-up station wagon—it does look like a seventies model, and that is very like his other car—even with the buffer car between you. You follow for a time on the city's surface streets, only separating once because of a stoplight.
It's been a bit since you were in the field like this, and it's not even an assignment.
After the stoplight there are two cars between you and him. But you're good at this, or you used to be.
Is it him? What will you say when you catch up? Will you even confront?
You have a dozen possible scenarios playing out simultaneously in your head when you watch as one buffer car turns left then the other moves to park against the curb. You realize you're coming into the older part of the city, technically downtown, but not the visited by tourists or the general population part of downtown. You are in the majority, and haven't spent much time there, but you aren't worried.
Not really.
You watch as the car carefully goes over a set of train tracks. You're still a few car-lengths behind him, and that is your downfall.
The lights at the tracks start blinking red, mocking you and the black and white barrier comes down right before you can decide if you're going to gun it or not.
Not. Apparently.
It's not a long set of train carriages, but the damage is done. Once you can safely drive to the other side, that car is gone. You spend a half hour looking down side streets and farther along the main thoroughfare, but no sighting of that car.
And you're stupid to have not recorded that license plate.
When you go home, you think you'll just let it go. It's not him.
There's no way.
Just let it go and get back to your work, as there is plenty of it.
Like you ever listen to yourself.
You don't talk to Seungmin about it. You want to, but he probably doesn't need to know how badly you are violating his privacy. You don't want him to turn off his location.
Just the thought of it still makes your heart freeze.
So the next week, you go again. However, this time you park yourself near the train tracks. You're going to feel really really stupid if that path he took last week was a one-off and he never comes this way again.
But something, that infamous gut of yours, tells you you'll see him.
Your gut is usually right.
And it is this time.
The car comes by and you shoot out (covertly) to follow it. You make it across the tracks this time and into the old downtown roads with crumbling and charming buildings. There's a lot of streetlights, but it's no problem to keep up. You remember to take a voice recording on your phone of the license plate, which serves you as you have to pull to the side when you hear sirens just as the car turns down a road. Once the ambulance is past you, you take that road, but again
AGAIN
You've lost him.
After cursing whoever needed an ambulance, then promptly begging the universe for forgiveness because that is awful of you, you go to your phone and call in the license plate number to one of the local cops who might still have a crush on you. You don't think so anymore, but you aren't the kind of person who won't use that in your favor.
They're married now, you find out over the phone, but apparently there aren't any hard feelings because the results are being sent to your personal email right now.
You never learned his last name (do they, when they live in such ephemeral planes of reality, need surnames?), so when you get information on one Sam Hwang, you are stumped.
Mostly.
The lack of information is suspicious. No photos that you can find searching that name—that's not true but you're convinced he's not looking like he's seventy-something even if he's in witness-protection, although how old is he, do fae age?—and there's no social media attached to that name, no misdemeanors…basically nothing that proves he exists beyond that car.
It's very little, but you aren't in journalism because you give up easily.
So the next week, you go again. This time, you go to where you know you last saw the car, an intersection in not too shady part of the area. And you wait.
You have been waiting for forever regarding him, it feels like.
When the car passes, you follow at your usual distance, but without meaning to, you get closer and closer.
Then the car pulls down an alleyway, the type of street that runs behind businesses so shipments can be dropped off. You follow, slow as you can, and see the car pull into a tiny lot, barely enough for three cars before turning off and the driver's door opening. You can't stop and hide, so you keep driving, trying to look forward like you have a clue what you're doing.
It's annoying because you can see this person out of the corner of your eye, but you can't look, because what if he's looking and you give yourself away or even like, get the cops called on you for stalking (no comment on that previous occurrence—for work). You can kind of see that this person is walking up the outside stairs to a second story of the building he's parked behind.
And that's all you can gather unless you crane your neck so badly you'll be in pain for months. When you come back to the main street, you make a quick circle—square, half of one— so you can see the front of the building you're nearly sure is the one he parked and went in.
Levanter.
You note the street and number on the door, but it's a Saturday evening and it's closed, as most normal businesses would be.
Which means you still don't know.
Monday is a day of meetings and assignment-delegating, so you can't get away. You've looked up the shop, as it is a shop, on the interwebs (incognito, just in case). It's one of those places that always intrigues you; full of incense, and crystals, dragon figurines, and books that speak of learning the unknown or the future.
There are two names on their webpage, one is Sam Hwang, Herbalist.
It's as good as you're going to get.
They're open on Tuesday. You can't get out of the newspaper office until after lunch due to your position responsibilities. You're beginning to envy the freedom Seungmin has, that you used to have.
"You're jumpy."
You prove his point by jumping at his voice. Seungmin raises an eyebrow and you close your laptop in at attempt to look nonchalant.
"Lots to do."
His lips twist, his obvious disbelief apparent in just how he's standing.
"Sure." He tugs on the strap of his bag before slipping on a hat. "Have fun with all that." He starts toward the doors, off on his assignment to cover something at the city council that you can't recall right at this moment. He pauses several meters away and looks back. "Just so you know, I have your location turned on too." He smiles, winsome and devious all at once before he walks out the doors without giving you a second to ask him—
To ask him everything.
You don't have time. You don't have time to figure out exactly what he means, if he knows what you've been up to for three weeks now.
Lunch is what you get, an extended lunch, you tell your immediate editor. You get into your car and drive toward that far more familiar part of the city.
To Levanter.
You park along the curb across from it, and you pull down the sun visor mirror before scolding yourself for caring what you look like halfway through the work day.
You cross the street and open the store's front door. Some chime, much like wind chimes sound as you enter.
"Greetings! I'll be with you in just a moment." The person who the voice belongs to isn't anywhere in your purview, but it's a female voice and you nod anyway, like they can see you.
Security cameras?
Your heart is pounding. More than pounding, whatever that word would be.
The place smells good. Not half-fae club good, whatever that was, you can vaguely remember. But good. Homey but otherworldly.
You walk along the shelves, past crystals, both polished and rough, vibrant and pastel colors. You pause at a dragon figurine that looks more like a puppy than a fierce mythological creature, a smile forming on your lips at its cuteness. You carefully life it up to check the price.
He might look good on your desk.
"Sweet, isn't he?"
You jump (fortunately, not with the dragon still in hand) before turning to the owner of the welcoming voice.
She's pretty, but you aren't sure if it's normal human pretty, or half-fae pretty toned down.
They do make it hard.
"He is. I was thinking he might like to guard my desk at work."
She laughs, like the tinkling of bells. Again, you think, possibly fae. But you can't be sure.
"I'm Lucy Hwang, this is my shop."
You know this, you saw her name in your minimal research. But the fact that her name is the same as the one you pursue does give you pause.
They might belong to each other. If it's even him.
"Nice to meet you. It's lovely. I was looking at your website, and was taken by, well everything." Your laugh is a little too happy, but she doesn't know you, so she shouldn't be able to tell.
That you're pretending.
"We love to hear that. Are you looking for something in particular? Other than a brave guard for your desk?"
You laugh again. "Not really, though I saw, on your website, that you have um, herbal remedies?"
"We do, come this way."
As you follow her, and her long gorgeous red hair, you note how she speaks in the plural.
They belong to each other.
It pricks at your heart.
She takes you to a section farther from the front door, past the counter for the checkout. There's a door behind that counter, most likely leading to the employees-only part of the building. Perhaps inside stairs to the second floor.
How are you going to get in there? Without being arrested or hexed?
She brings you to a dark, nearly black, wood cabinet filled with jars and bottles, labeled with a pretty scroll and handwriting.
"What sort of concerns are you having? That you'd be looking at herbal remedies?"
You remember that she's there, your attention still on that door.
"You don't know?" You smile to show you aren't trying to be rude, and gesture to the tarot card decks a few feet away. There's at least two clear glass orbs that could be the quintessential crystal ball.
Her smile turns more knowing. "Maybe I do, just wanting to see if you might be honest with me."
Shit. Can she tell?
Is she one of them?
"Oh, um, trouble sleeping? Nothing is really working." This isn't a total lie. In your years reporting, any cover story worked if it was almost true, or had some truth in it.
You aren't a great sleeper generally, but especially since…well, since.
"Bad dreams?"
Trust your gut—she's fae.
"Some."
"Trauma?"
"I mean, no one lives long without some of that, right?"
Her eyes stay on you and you force yourself not to look away, though you do wonder if you're about to be glamoured or whatever.
"I have a few things that could help." She turns away to grab two jars and a dropper bottle. "Magnesium is the base for all three."
"I did try taking that."
"This is more natural, not man-made or synthetic. Should do its thing more readily and effective than what you were taking."
"You make these? From plants and such?"
Her smirk tells you that she knows where you're going with this.
"He's an herbalist. He's not much help in the shop, with customers." She opens the jar, a tester of lotion. "There is lavender and clary sage in this as well." She lifts it so I can smell it.
I hope it doesn't work like chloroform in the movies.
"Oh that's nice. This place does smell so good."
"Thank you." She puts a dab of the lotion on my wrist. I freeze, waiting for…something. "You want me to get him for you?"
If she can't hear your heart…
"Yes." No need to be coy.
She nods and waltzes by you toward the door. The door. Opening it, she calls.
"Sam! Customer has some questions."
It takes a couple seconds. "And you can't answer?"
"It's pretty niche." She turns back to smile at you. "Be nice. I think she's going to buy something."
You feel your heart in your throat when the footsteps sound, not heavy, but over hollow wooden floors, even an angel would make noise.
He fills the doorway, taller than she is. Hair shaved, with only an inch or two of growth. It's jet-black. He wears a pair of sweatpants, and a thread-bare green t-shirt, giving more 'struggling' than 'sexy.'
