euxjoonwoo:
⟨ caught red handed ⟩
—————
Joonwoo went until the words died on his tongue. The girl was still soaked and Joonwoo in his tangent had finally managed to calm down enough to rein in his powers. “Let me dry you off. Might be a bit uncomfortable at first.” Concentrating, he focused on the water on and around the girl and willed it to be pulled back into the surrounding atmosphere, creating a strong humidity. “There,” he smiled, “all dry.”
It suddenly occurred to Joonwoo, now that the adrenaline had left his body, to question why he was at the training grounds talking to a girl in the middle of the night during a drakon attack. “Um, I hope you don’t mind me asking, but…why are you here? Everyone except patrol groups are supposed to be in their dorms.”
she hums, head nodding slowly as she listens to his explanation. she’s much more calm compared how she was only moments before, and this way she can let her logic rule rather than her anger. “ i see. well i suppose i should apologize for startling you so much. thanks for trying to protect me from the haystack drakon.” she jests, though her eyebrows narrow. what exactly would a flood of water surging in do to a terrifying beast like the drakon, she wonders. but she keeps this thought to herself.
sooah stays silent as he offers to dry her off. she holds her arms out in front of her, as if that would help him dry her off faster, but it’s mostly done out of her not really knowing what she should be doing in a situation like this. the sensation isn’t so much uncomfortable as it’s odd. it’s as if all the remaining warmth she had around her (despite being wet) was pulled away. but the sensation lasts for a mere seconds before it’s gone (thankfully). she inspects her arms, nodding once it’s confirmed to be fully dry. “thanks for drying me off, i appreciate it.”
now, sooah could play ignorant, or stupid depending on how you want to look at it, and pretend as if she wasn’t aware that she was supposed to be in her cabin. but she knows that it wouldn’t work on the male, that and she really didn’t want to seem stupid. she gestures at the haystack in front of her. “well, considering we’re in a training room, i was training.” and before the male can protest about how dangerous it is for her to be out here alone, because she has a feeling he will, she continues on. “i have a magical protective barrier meant to keep monsters out, so there’s no need to worry.”
despite telling the male not to worry, she does has a suspicion that he would still try to make her leave, so she claps her hands together, forcing a smile onto her face. “well, now that we’ve gotten why i’m here out of the way, i’m going to go back to practicing. if you’ll excuse me.” without waiting for him to reply, she turns her back to him and leans down to pick up her discarded sword. it’s time for her to take her anger and grief out onto the haystack.
