Felt strongly that Grace telling Rocky about how he ended up in space was a missed conversation in the book. I know what the message of the book is, and the pinnacle of Grace’s character arc wasn’t about framing that, he couldn’t get external validation on what happened. He had to confront and overcome it internally.
But I just wanted to see Rocky get mad!! So I’m working on a fic right now of Grace telling Rocky about how he ended up in space. It’s kicking my ass but the story pulls at my mind. Want to see Rocky make Grace sit in the emotion rather than bottling it up and dismissing it.
getting emotional over the idea of a younger eva stratt who probably used to be hotheaded and a lot more expressive about the world she loves so dearly, but the years had taught her that the only way to save humanity is to act indifferent to it :(
the astrophage dads
Every glasses wearer's problem
grace you gotta lock in
"sending people to their death" this "suicide mission" that EVERYONE IN PETROVA TASKFORCE WERE ALREADY ON A SUICIDE MISSION. the Stratt Vat was hundreds of miles away from any shoreline in case something went Terribly Wrong with Astrophage Experiments. every single member of the crew was there, sitting on a powder barrel with a fuse in one hand and a lighter in another and nothing more but blind trust in themselves and each others to not let flames touch wooden walls. one picogram off the charts, one nanosecond off calculations, – and all hope of humanity would've perished at sea, disintegrated without even a trail of smoke. invisible scythe of the reaper was near their necks at all times. grabs you by your shoulders shakes you violently do you see the vision
im so glad this post attracted the right audience actually. shoutout all of you
Thinking about Grace hosting weekly earth culture classes for interested Eridians. Rocky and Adrian are always there (very supportive of their little human). Naturally, the Odyssey is eventually discussed. Grace probably does a dramatic reading, sharing the daring exploits of Odysseus’ on his journey home. Revealing that his wife Penelope waited 20 years for his return. Adrian can only laugh, “Only 20 earth years? Waited 3 times as long as that. 20 years on same planet is easy.” And then Rocky tackles them.

Wish you could see that wicked truth
Some behind-the-scenes process (didn't take a photo of the cutting mat bc I was freaking out over how hard the paper was to cut) Yes, I did sketch it out digitally at first for some reason...partially just thinking to myself and planning the idea in the meantime
Was suffering from cramps and thought of the universe's best heating pad
What kind of problems do you think that gun could create
Happy pride btw

It’s crazy that Ryland Grace, upon hearing that the science leads for Project Hail Mary were killed, told Stratt and the rest of the team to call in a random back up for the mission. Mind you the next person most qualified to go, was a chemist with a bachelor’s degree in Paraguay working at a brewery! With no experience whatsoever in anything remotely related to astrophage, let alone microbiology!! He was the only person on the planet with the skills to go and if he didn’t go, all he would have bought himself is an extra 20 years on earth max!!
Stratt had the absolute most valid reaction calling his shit out. She honestly held back when she confronted him and would have been hundred percent justified if she spoke harsher. He really thought they were going to delay the project to train an unqualified person for a task they didn’t remotely have the skill set for?? And he thought Stratt would be down for that???? Is he out of his fucking mind?????? Eva Stratt’s crash out is composed and elegant, I’m sure anyone else would have lost their minds during that conversation
