Hong Kong Cemeteries | Manuel Alvarez Diestro | Via
Resembling ancient amphitheaters, this series of photographs by manuel alvarez diestro exposes the tightly packed cemeteries around hong-kong. the eerie images juxtapose the two parallel worlds of the living and the dead, and the environments in which they must co-exist. overlooking the city from different angles, the vertical structures in the background help to increase the sense of density within the two contrasting worlds. the photographs also display similarities of repetition within the built forms, helping to merge them in with the surrounding urban fabric.
Leila Alaoui: The Moroccans
The Moroccans is a photographic series of contemporary live size portraits, shot in a mobile photo studio across Morocco. Its images are an attempt to bear witness to the rich cultural and ethnic diversity of Morocco, an archival work on the aesthetics of disappearing traditions through contemporary digital photography.
In Muslim countries it is generally frowned upon to depict the human figure as per an approach called aniconism. Aside from the striking visual beauty, this belief makes French-Moroccan artist Leila Alaoui’s series of portraits The Moroccans all the more interesting and thought-provoking.

Snake Slayer
An engraved Bond Arms Snake Slayer derringer with two sets of barrels; one in .45 LC & .410, the other in .357 Magnum. According to the owner/seller, the engraving work was done by Tony Lee Frost, a well known engraver for knives and firearms. Although a derringer is generally in the $400 or less range, the spare barrel and the professional engraving helped to snag a final selling price of $1,525.00. (GRH)

Ruger Vaquero
Single-action revolver chambered in .45 Long Colt, or just Colt as some people prefer. Very simple and fun cowboy-style of firearm but heavily engraved to the point of being more of a collector’s piece than a range gun. The work was done by engravers Mike Dubber and Les Schowe with an asking price of $4,250. (GRH)
