A Chance Meeting || Max & Evan
Max followed Evan, rolling his eyes at the man’s clear disinterest in what he had to say. This was the problem with the rest of the agency. No one wanted to listen and no one wanted to cooperate. If things kept up like this then their entire mission was going to flop and he couldn’t figure out why no one else seemed to see it.Â
Once he took a seat in the office he cleared his throat. “I’ve been working on a young woman in the building named Rachel Teer. I think she knows something. She had a pretty strange experience at that damned retreat we were subjected to and it seems to have spooked her. But the way she talks, I just get the impression that there’s something there that she isn’t telling, might even be afraid to tell.”Â
He paused and let that sink in. “Either she’s a Second Generation herself, or she knows about them. It’s the only real explanation for her behavior. I think it might be time that we bring her in for a formal interview. Even if she doesn’t want to give up the information I’m sure you can get your hands on something to help her loosen up her tongue and forget it ever happened after of course if it proves to be a dead end.”
At the sound of Rachel's name, Evan glanced at the man. Evan couldn't very well tell Max what he'd been thinking when it came to Rachel. There are things that he'd figured out long ago when it came to her, but that didn't mean that he had everything figured out. That was part of why he kept treating Rachel so nicely. She trusted him, thought he was a nice person, and if he could continue that reputation with her, it could possibly turn into something he could use to his advantage.
"Rachel... hmm." Evan thought about what Max had said some more and then leaned in towards him. "I'm sure that there's something that could be done about that." He replied. "All the same, I suppose that's as good a start as any. I'll take care of finding out what I can do in order to get some information from her. Maybe I could convince her to meet with me one-on-one again, as we did once before."
With that being said, his eyes glanced down to where his own hands were clasped in front of him. Surely there had to be something else, and that Max hadn't asked to speak to him because of that one thing. "Is there anything else that you have to tell me that could be equally interesting, if not moreso?"
