i feel like a lot of eva fans really downplay / joke about how gendo treated rei. he grooms her, sexually abuses her, and neglects her just as bad as he neglects shinji.

there are multiple scenes that straight up just tell you and somehow people manage to not see it?

also they somehow come to the conclusion that he’s a sort of fatherly figure for her? um? hello? really super gross!

Trans Shinji is antithetical to the point of Shinji and is dismissive of his struggle as a young boy who doesn't fit all the masculine stereotypes he's expected to. Saying he's transfemme because he's not macho and has some effeminate qualities is actually sexist. He very clearly wants to be manly as seen when he responds to the taunting of "you're a boy, aren't you?" by Misato and Asuka.

i love kawoshin with my entire body and it was my Big Yaoi Ship and i am glad they didn't end up together in 3.0+1.0. i think shinji needed to grow beyond needing kaworu as his only source of affection and kaworu needs to be able to exercise his own free will beyond loving shinji. tbh if they had ended up together i would not have liked it it goes against the themes!! that said if 3.0+1.0 was fr they would've let shinji stay single but #whatever

unironically i'm so tired of how the fandom treats shinji. i did a whole analysis on her a while back listing what disorders and other mental health conditions/issues i suspect she has and the whole list was something like depression, anxiety, bipolar, PTSD and C-PTSD, autism, dissociative identity disorder, as well as having an anxious-disorganized attachment style, being starved for attention and affection, experiencing a significant amount of transphobia, and being actively abused/traumatized during the events of the series. i did a stupid amount of research for thay analysis and then i ran it through my therapist, who has also watched the series and has been something we discuss at legnth, and he said that analysis was accurate (he wven suggested i add a few diagnoses :/ ). but all of that seems to get ignored so much and she's dismissed as a whiny crybaby abuser. yes she has done shitty things but it's not because she's a shitty person, it's becasue of all the bullshit going on in her head. not to mention the transfem and system coding of her entire character!!!! though you can find transfem shinji content, it's really not popular and very few people take it seriously. and almost no one headcanons her as plural, despite having some of the most obvious plural coding out of any character i have ever come across. the erasure of such significant portions of her character, reducing her and the entire show to "get in the robot shinji," just feels like an exercise in whatever the opposite of using your brain is

transfeminine shinji been one of the pillars of my sanity lately tbh. here's the headcanons

- she's definitely called shinko. - maya was the first to guess and now regularly gives her fashion tips and girl advice and compliments every outfit - shinko made a joke once about borrowing rei's clothes, but she never made that joke again because the response was "oh, when do you want to have them?" - when she came out to misato, she wasn't quite sure how to support her daughter properly. so the next morning she just stole 400 vials of e from nerv's medical supply depot and dumped them in front of shinko's room. - shinko once "borrowed" asuka's antenna clips because she wanted to copy her hairstyle in front of the mirror and was too panicked to think of using her own. (asuka immediately found out) - when shinko eventually needed a new plugsuit she stood stammering in the design office for five minutes until one of the younger women correctly guessed she wanted to ask for pink highlights

I hate kaworu sooooooo much because in a series fit to burst with absolutely richly fleshed out and detailed female characters there's like 2 yuri ships and maybe 3 if you think that shinji is an egg. BUT NOBODY EVER TALKS ABOUT IT BECAUSE THE GUY WHO WAS THERE FOR 2 SECONDS MAKES EVERYONE WANNA TALK YAOIIIII
