Starting some new pieces. Early stages always seem to look like those old paint by numbers projects

Hello, it's been some time!
I took a bit of a break over these last few months - both from social media and from painting. During this time I've experienced the worst art block I've ever had. For probably multiple reasons I won't fully get into, I felt completely stagnant as an artist and nothing I seemed to do would pull me out from that feeling.
Something about the recent work I was making felt rote, like going through the motions without fully experiencing the painting. It all felt very staged and planned out, leaving little room for energy and improvisation.
So I finally made a decision.
I wouldn't fret over detail and planning. Instead I would find a way to finish a piece in one sitting, with no sketch or forethought, and just a vague idea of the animal I wanted to depict.
So this is what you see here. I don't know if it's successful. I don't know if I will continue with this kind of work, or do more experimental stuff, maybe delving into abstraction or something. But for now it's enough to pull me out of the rut and try something a bit new.
The subject matter will remain the same, but my approach will now be different.
