I keep saying this but no one understands😞😞😞the foundational structure of TERF rhetoric does not lie on “gender abolition” and everything they lie about espousing. The foundation of TERF rhetoric lies in the deification of the female, femininity, and the suffering and pain undergone through that.

One of chief pioneers and architects of the movements was fucking Mary Daly who was a feminist theologian, like I’m not coming out of nowhere you need to check these women and their backgrounds and then you’ll realise where they’re getting things from‼️‼️‼️‼️

Mary Daly wrote a book called gyn/ecology in which she uses her background as a feminist theologian to make the case for “female spirituality” and what not, and comes up with the concept of the “hag” as a symbol for “female liberation”. It absolutely is all about idolizing (white, cis) women and putting them on this holy pedestal, which does absolutely nothing to undermine patriarchy or patriarchal dictates. 

Also, she used nonwestern women and nonwestern religions as examples of “female oppression”, but never once did she use nonwestern female deities as examples of “female liberation/female spirituality”. Audre Lorde heavily criticized her for it, in fact, and called her out for capitalizing on Black women’s oppression for her own academic arguments. (Btw, Daly’s response to Lorde’s article was paltry at best and did nothing to properly address Lorde’s genuine criticisms of her book. Like, Daly used Lorde’s extensive work to provide fodder for her image of nonwestern women as “female victims”, and didn’t apologize for it).

YETH‼️ And another TERF extraordinaire, Germaine Greer literally came to India to tell Indian women about how to fight about liberation and how much she /liked/ the large family units in India. She also spoke about the importance of older female members especially mother in laws. When Indian women spoke about how wrong she was and how these mother-in-laws have a huge hand in the oppression of most Indian women, she flipped and told them that, and I quote, “Better the family that the Corporation. In the West the Corporations enslave women.”

Daly once compared the existence of trans women (& trans lesbians/feminists in particular) to the holocaust and like…. even if you hate trans women honestly how can you defend a take like that? its not even coherent enough to qualify as a bad analysis
