MOODBOARD [1/∞] → EVANS SISTERS [WENDY JOSEPHINE && SCARLETT LOUISE && LYDIA PAIGE]
“For there is no friend like a sister In calm or stormy weather; To cheer one on the tedious way, To fetch one if one goes astray, To lift one if one totters down, To strengthen whilst one stands”
― Christina Rossetti

The music for my choir’s winter concert came in today, and I must’ve stayed after work for a good two hours running through it myself before I hand it out tomorrow. It came in later than I would’ve liked, but I can already imagine how amazing it’s all going to sound once we jump into it. Christmas may still be a month away, but I think it’s safe to say that this has officially put me into the holiday spirit.
TEXT 📲 RONDY
ROBIN: Hey. I'm okay.
ROBIN: How about you? I heard from Lottie-- I'm glad your family is all okay, too.
WENDY: I'm really happy to hear that.
WENDY: I'm alright, mostly just grateful that things are returning back to normal. We're all okay, some a bit more shaken up than others but I think that's understandable. You didn't have any damages or anything like that, did you?
darbyfabray:
There’s some damage around town, if anyone needs help with anything I will be volunteering at my church to help cook meals for those in need. And if you want to help, we would love volunteers to help with anything people may need, whether it be donating goods or giving some time to help rebuild….our community needs it. The last thing I want is for any of my fellow Cotton Planters to suffer, so tomorrow my church will be working on projects, come by if you have the time.
Other than that, I do hope everyone is okay and if anyone needs a hug my arms are wide open.
My family and I all seem to be doing okay in terms of damage, which I am absolutely grateful for, but I think I’ll be stopping by to help out, if you can never have too many spare hands. I haven’t been able to sleep well knowing that not every got off as lucky as others.
Music is the cheapest and simplest cure to life’s problems.

TEXT 📲 RONDY
WENDY: Hey Robin, are you okay? I would've texted you if there was any chance it'd go through, but I really hope you were able to make it somewhere safe with this.
TEXT 📲 LENDY
WENDY: Hey, cell service is back up! I don't know if you've heard from either of them, but I'm with Lottie and Scottie. Are you still doing okay, sweetheart?
scottie-adam:
Does anyone know how to fold a napkin into a heart? I’m trying to figure out the technique, but it’s a really difficult one.
I on’t know about hearts, but I once knew how to make a pretty impressive paper crane if that helps.
scarlottieevans:
It was no secret to anyone that Lottie had been in a horrendous mood since being stuffed into the cafe, but the change in scenery, at least, boosted it incremently. Terrible as it made her feel, she only really bothered checking briefly for Lottie before slumping against a wall and staring down at her nails with a scowl. She didn’t bother to make conversation to anyone around her, wrapped up in worry for her family and friends. Consumed in her own thoughts, Lottie had only mere seconds to brace for impact before she was suddenly wrapped in her big sister.
“Wendy!” She gasped, flinging her own arms around Wendy in a tight embrace. After a moment, she pulled back to search her sister’s face for any possible signs of injury. When she noticed nothing she hugged her again, sniffling even as she pretended she wasn’t acting like a little btich. “I’m so glad you’re okay, oh my god. You’re never leaving my sight.”
Wendy had thought nothing could make her happier than hearing Lydia’s voice the day before, but actually being able to hug Lottie was quickly overtaking that. “You say that like I’ll ever let you go anywhere alone again,” she said easily, fully committed to keeping a firm grip on her sister for as long as the younger girl would let her. She wouldn’t say it out loud, but Lottie had been one of her biggest worries, afraid that the mischief maker would go out looking for trouble. Seeing that she was (at least to the naked eye) physically okay made Wendy just about cry in relief. “I can’t believe you’re here. I thought... I don’t know what I thought, but I’m just happy you’re safe. You are safe, right, you didn’t go out to suckerpunch the storm?”
CALL 📞 LENDY
LYDIA: The hours were blending together, and Lydia's already foggy brain wasn't handle this situation very well. She was in a room with some people who were near strangers to her-- her family was nowhere in sight and a single tear rolled down her cheek as she realized that Wendy was calling her, Wendy was safe. "Wendy?" Lydia asked, incredulous. "Is that really you?"
WENDY: In all her 29 years, Wendy didn't think she'd heard anything ad comforting as the sound of Lydia's voice, no matter how much it worried Wendy that she was probably terrified. Nodding, she pressed the phone closer to her ear. "It's me, sweetie, I promise. Are you okay? Please tell me you're with Mom and Dad, or... one of the boys or Lottie." It seemed futile to ask, but Wendy still had hope that her entire family was safe so that Lydia wasn't alone.
There was only so much stress that Wendy could take before she felt ready to lose it. Having been moved from Honey Buns to the hotel was putting her one step closer to that inevitable burst. Being able to talk to Lydia, no matter how brief, had set her mind at ease for a while, but there was still the fear about her parents and the rest of her siblings. How bad was the storm that people were having to be moved? Even the texts she’d received before cell service went down again hadn’t tided her over, because God only knew what could’ve transpired between now and when they were sent?
The bistro was more packed than she was comfortable with, but the added concern wasn’t doing her any favors either. It was such an uncomfortable feeling that, if she hadn’t had the thought to take another look, she would’ve completely missed the small blonde head that she’d recognize anywhere. If there was one thing Wendy prided herself on, it was differentiating between her family’s two sets of twins, and she would’ve known Lottie without a moment’s doubt. “Scarlett!” Before Wendy could stop herself, she was calling out her sister’s full name and racing towards her, pulling her into a hug within seconds.

WENDY: could've sworn she was seeing things when her phone told her there was minimal service, but service nonetheless. Chances were her parents were together, so that at least helped stem some of her worry. Her brothers were both resourceful, Lottie was probably calling the storm a little bitch at this exact moment... there was only a few split seconds of uncertainty before Wendy made up her mind on who to check on first. She quickly pressed her youngest sister's contact information, holding her breath and listening to the sound of her own racing heart as she anxiously waited for an answer. "Please pick up..."
Although there weren’t many of them, Wendy must’ve tried every door in Honey Buns at least five times since getting stuck here and was now making her rounds for the sixth and most recent attempt. It was futile, just like the nonstop texts she’d been sending to her siblings and friends, but it seemed as though the only other option was to sit around and pray for this all to pass. She wasn’t an anxious person by nature, but the absolute uncertainty of anything was finally starting to wear at her. How her brothers and parents were holding up, if Lottie had managed to keep herself from causing too much trouble, if Lydia was coping well with all this chaos… her mind even went to her students and all the little ones at the hotel, hoping with every fiber of her being that they were safe and she’d see them first chance she could when this storm had passed. Then there was everyone else in the store with her, faces Wendy recognized but didn’t know beyond a name at best. Even so, worrying was Wendy’s natural state, and she couldn’t help but feel like there was more she had to be doing here too.
For the sixth time, she jiggled the handle of the door marked ‘Manager’, and for the sixth time she felt her heart sink when it didn’t budge. This was useless. She could hear the rain slamming down outside and the wind rushing around the building, and logically she knew she should be grateful that they were at least safe and the building was holding up, minus the lack of power. She should be grateful, but her mind and worry were in too many places to really permit that. Flashlight in hand, she turned towards one of the only other doors in the shop (if Wendy had to guess, it was probably some kind of closet), but stopped when her flashlight sputtered once, twice, three times before going completely black. Wendy had to fight back the urge to throw it in frustration. She couldn’t remember if the supply kits had batteries or not, and that was just one more thing she was unsure of on top of everything else. She should go and check on the others, look for batteries, see what she could do, but instead, all Wendy was able to do was slide down the side of the wall outside the manager’s office and sighed. “This is stupid.”
gabriellepuckerman:
So would it be stealing if I opened up a bag of donuts and a case of Pepsi? Because I’m literally starving to death.
The Mottas would probably rather you do that than risk word getting out about someone passing out from hunger during a storm in their store. And if you reimburse them somewhere down the line, it’s probably no harm, no foul.
teeny-rose:
I literally just wanted to buy a cake.. Do you think if I leave 40 dollars on the counter I can just take one and eat it?
For $40, you might actually be doing yourself a financial injustice by only taking one cake. You could probably get away with taking a cake and maybe an extra batch of cupcakes on top of it.
jasrosa:
Does anyone want to see my boobs? That would defs, like, defuse the situation and stuff, right?
I’m not sure that that’d be the most helpful thing, to be honest. Besides, with the power being out, it might only make you colder than you have to be.
